So, why did the Secret Service have a tap on this guy's line? Or was the tap on Digimarc?
Short apparently couldn't stop thinking about it, as he broke down and called Digimarc for support--twice--a couple of days later asking whether he would be able to obtain printer drivers. Secret Service Special Agent John Bush told IDG that he recognized Short's voice on the recording from another, unrelated investigation and that the phone number that Short had provided matched up to another identity theft case. Here's another tip for thieves: don't use your regular phone number for all of your crimes. Get a business line or something.
Did anyone else notice the Javascript in the second link using https to report home ever 10 seconds or so?
I didn't bother to go to far into disecting it, but I do find it amusing that it's obviously up to something on the page with an article about spyware.
I haven't owned a television in nearly 10 years. I left mine with my X and have never felt the need to replace it. There is truly nothing on the brain-eraser that I consider even remotely intelligent. BTW, that's a full 2 years before I discovered the Internet.
What is truly amazing is that every time I see a TV there's like a 50% chance that I've seen what's on it before!!
I am embarrassed for my peers when I see what many can't seem to get enough of.
IIRC several recent worms have left backdoors on the victim computers.
Does anyone know where a person could get accurate information requied to say, identify infected machines on a network with nmap or somehting similar? The published information from the AV vendors seems a littly "fluffy" in this respect, they would obviously rather sell me something.
I'm in a school setting and am not the Admin so I don't have full control our computers, thought I am trusted and given liberal leeway. I would like to be able to scan for computers that have had their AV software disabled and/or are infected.
From page 2:
But even after the bubble burst, spam was handsomely profitable. ''I cleared $130,000 in 10 months,'' Colbert says, ''the best money I've ever made.''
From page 4:
''It's a Dell Pentium 233,'' he says. ''I got it for $15, plus $23.95 shipping.'' A cloud of smoke fills the side room of the single-wide.
I hope if I ever make $110k in 10 months, I have a little more to show for my labor than a P233 and a single-wide in a park! Sounds like he's scratching to come up with that.
Perhaps Marcy Playground has some insight:
And all the whores on Blecker Street
They wear the blissful grin
Caused by the drugs they take
To relieve them of their sins
My web host won't give me SSH for SFTP or provide secure POP. Nothing like handing your passwords out all day long. So if you can snort me and deface my web page, am I now a cracked server statistic?

But I would vote for the Camelbak
In a sense this is still good because it contributes to the erosion of their customer base.

I remember that one of the p2p apps was doing this to steal the advertising revenue from sites.
You know the funny thing... I would happily install something that substitutes simple targeted ads for the flashing moving crap.
Suppose I'm on to something? I bet there's a business model that fits this...
That rocks.
A true hack.
Thanks!

Are we sure that these people aren't lined up for new batteries?

Which is unfortunate because I prefer their products.
I've been waiting for a 10 week rebate from them since December.
Doesn't it?
It's the PCI slots that made me think so.
Do they plan to torch to their data drive?
