Yeah...go give away $19million in tax breaks to a multi-billion dollar company, for 100 jobs. Yeah, really brilliant!
If you think VA is only getting 100 jobs, then you missed the fact that $1B is being spent. Where do you think that money going?...how many workers is that going to employ and how long? How many small businesses spawn off of 100 new jobs...who feeds all those people, and their families? It's not as simple as 100 jobs at $190k a piece.
No, the shooter had bump stocks which are legal, though that won't last long now that even the NRA has come out in favor of doing something about them. Fully automatic weapons are also not illegal, you simply need a license. You can shoot one any day of the week at many locations across the country.
Rules are made all the time that affect innocents because of criminals or idiots. We wouldn't have speed limits, TSA, or employers monitoring our surfing at work, if it wasn't for the idiocy of a few.
So, which makes more sense and is less costly? Patting down every grandma in a wheelchair, and every five year old's teddy coming through an airport, or focusing the efforts on a demographic with a history of that? Yes, it's not fair, and neither is life...I've personally been profiled more than once (airports and local cops), and it sucked, and was inconvenient, but whatever.
No, he had semi-automatic weapons. Not a single one was fully automatic (machine gun). Machine guns are not illegal, they are licensed, and in fact you can go shot one any day of the week in Las Vegas...it's advertised frequently. What the shooter did have were bump stocks, which subvert the spirit of the law on automatic weapons, and I hope that Congress bans them.
If Trump can call anything terrorism without waiting for any facts showing it to be so, why can't we?
You do realize that the countries listed in Trump's original proposal were listed by Obama's administration. He's still a moron, but maybe you could deal with facts instead of agenda.
The sole purpose of a gun is to kill and maim. It has no other purpose
As a gun owner for over forty years, I've put thousands of rounds through them, and never killed nor maimed. Clearly, they have no other purpose in your eyes. That said, if someone were to threaten me or my family, I wouldn't hesitate to use them to defend us. If that isn't justifiable to you, then I can't help you, and am simply glad that you aren't king.
There would have been plenty of muzzle flash to easily identify what room the shooter was firing from. The estimates I've seen put him at about 1100 feet from the crowd. That's easily within range for a marksman with a decent rifle.
I haven't tried to find the answers to this yet, but have read that police first arrived at the room door 12 minutes after the start of the shooting, and yet didn't breech the door for nearly 75 minutes. Why was that?...had he already shot himself?...had the shooting stopped?...were they waiting to clear adjacent rooms? As with many investigations, we'll learn more as all of this unfolds, but in the meantime we'll hear lots of speculation from the media to keep the revenue stream hot.
The damned credit agencies can't even get my address right. I've ran 3 agency checks several times over the last few years, and found multiple errors, and yet the government wants to rely on these jackasses? They should be sued into oblivion for not getting their shit straight. I'm currently fighting with one of them over a phony bill from MCI...yes, MCI. I had used them at an old address that I moved away from back in '02, and yet MCI posted that I owe them about $50 as of 2013...eleven years after I no longer had an account with them. I could easily pay off MCI, but am fighting it on principle.
I've lived in the area since '82 as well. You might want to check your history on NOVA voting though. For example Fairfax county went Red for governor in '93, '97 and as recently as '09, and Senate in 2000. Six of the Nine Loudoun Co. board of supervisors are Republican, and two of their four state representatives. Prior to '08, Loudoun had a long history of straight Red presidential vote majorities, dating back to 1912 according to their wiki page.
Additionally, you might want to look at the Richmond and VA Beach areas, which have become much more blue.
For a fair comparison, you need to include the fact that a small airplane can fly faster, higher, and with more duration than most drones. Thus, covering much more space in the same amount of time. So, maybe a cost to cover a square mile might be better.
Any company that has money just "lying around" is run by morons who will eventually be replaced by people who actually know how to run a business. Money is applied to projects or investments in order to provide a ROI. Possibly, these companies are privately owned, or have some kind of government protection against competition, otherwise they're simply being inefficient.
If an eagle is destroying your drones, protections do not apply. Any law that claims otherwise is unjust and corrupt.
If your drone is invading or disturbing a protected species, then your drone and you both deserve corrective action. It's completely just and to say otherwise is idiotic.
I was raised Christian, but stopped following over forty years ago, though I still try to be respectful of others beliefs.
As for your example, I haven't read the article, or know enough about the Hawaiian's beliefs to know if that's a similar case. I did raise a somewhat similar question in another post here regarding how we would treat it if taken over and someone wanted to put up something on Arlington cemetery. Yes, I could certainly understand the outrage in either case, though I just don't know enough. Hopefully the TMT can find a suitable home in any case.
I'm sorry, who exactly is saying the bugger off line? Oh, you made that shit up didn't you...got it. As a person who left religion behind when I left my parents home 40+ years ago, I've never met a Christian that used his/her religion to slight anyone, much less minorities. Clearly there's plenty of history of that happening, but within the last few decades, and you give examples? Sorry, nobody alive should be held responsible for crap that happened centuries ago.
While I agree with much of your commentary, I'd just like to toss out some general food for discussion, not necessarily directed at the parent.
Suppose the U.S. was taken over, and that our new overlords decided that the perfect place for their new teleporter was legitimately on the grounds of Arlington cemetery. How would the majority of Americans react?
"Frankly I've no interest in 'mastering my culture' when it's filled with charlatans and hypocrites. Western society is shit."
No doubt, most of the world is and has been full of charlatans and hypocrites. But laying the blame on Western society is illogical. You've given no evidence to link Western society to being the cause of that, any more or less than other societies. Maybe you'd like to point to your manifesto on what the utopian society would be. I don't believe that the planet has yet seen one.

If 20 people a week drove their car like that and were declared blameless, there would be riots.
You're clearly unaware of actual accident statistics. Try looking them up before making baseless comments.

This comment makes me want to subscribe to Jesus' blog, and I'm not even religious. Bravo sir.
Solution: Find a flying creature they don't attack - Most likely a vulture
But how are we going to simulate a lawyer flying?
Never thought that birds could be more effective than shotguns...
Your move, NRA card-holding privacy conscious anti-environmentalists.
Your move...
As a NRA card-holding privacy conscious environmentalists, I'm rooting for the eagles.
Google the cost of a used Cessna 152...they're much cheaper than you'd think. It's really the cost of maintenance and insurance that drives the TOC.

There's plenty of historical evidence pointing to unintended consequences of importing predators to deal with pests. Be careful what you wish for.
The cost of the sat link alone would bankrupt most people.

Huh ? Jesus is the guy who does my trees. There's a RELIGION based on him ??? ;)
I thought that was a different religion. I keep hearing people yelling "hey Zeus!".
I predict these comments will be buried.
On a volcano, that would be cremated.
