People who are born into wealth likely have a higher probabality of being wastrels. People born into poverty are likely to bust their hump harder. Wealth *can* be a positive feedback loop and poverty *can* be a negative, but they don't have to be. A few million illegal immigrants have figured out a way to start their way out of poverty.

In the FairTax proposal, rebates are monthly. And the only paperwork you need to fill out is a change of address form if you move (or if you have a kid).
It's a friggin sales tax. Why would you need to keep receipts or records? The only people that would have to deal with the taxman would be the business owners.
And you don't need a checking or savings account to cash a check from the government. People getting welfare manage somehow.
Personally, *I* think the way to run the Treasury is to not have tax withholding. Make people send a check every month, just like rent or electric bill. Make people realize just how much of their money goes to the government.

If somebody noticed that a million digits into pi there was a long sequence of 0's and 1's that turned out to be an ASCII dump of the King Jame's Bible, I'd probably start thinking there's something to this Jesus thing. And yes, I've read "Contact" (that would have been cool if they'd put that part in the movie).
The Marshall Plan was created to build up Germany and Japan so they would be effective buffers against the USSR. I suppose you think the US went to the moon to do scientific research, too?:)

The MPAA is probably not paying them to monitor World Of Warcraft content torrents. They are probably collecting IP's on, say, torrents of copyrighted movies.
What? The day it came out on the net, four guys I worked with were playing multiplayer deathmatch on the corporate LAN after work. id used broadcast mode, though, and they got busted when an IT guy from another site twenty miles away drove over to see what the hell was messing with the network.

The reason they wanted to secede was because changing demographics (North growing in population much faster than South) meant that slavery was going to become illegal. Read Texas' Articles Of Secession. It becomes pretty flippin obvious why they wanted out of the Union.

Since it could be in the deep ocean instead of on the continental shelf, that carbon would be pretty much permanently removed. Maybe use the excess electricity to make nitrate fertilizer and inject it in the water.
It doesn't say anything about funding interstate highways, either. What's your point? The phrase "provide for the general welfare" can cover a lot of ground.
