I had found that I could play video through iTunes via Pod cast quite a while back. Slashdot didnt care to hear about it.
ARS talks it up and slashdot gets giddy.
All it would have taken is slashdot trying it for themselve JULY 6th.
ha.
I have been messing around with HandBreak http://handbrake.m0k.org/ and have been able to use that snazzy new H.264 codec and compressed NapoleonDynomite to 652mb with no noticable quality loss at all. My 60 gig iPod should hold at least 60 movies and still a bit of music.
Small screen? Sure its small. But as said elsewhere in this thread, plug it into your tv. Bam. portable movies.
Sync it with your new Apple DVR system and... oh wait. not yet.
Not without a lot of time and effort. Different weather, land color tones and cameras all play into it. Imagine working with massive 100gig images in photoshop. Not going to work. Companies out there will spend time doing it, but you pay for it. A lot of imagary is free from the government. But doing something with it is where the effort comes in.
I understand exactly what they are saying. Believe what you will, but I have always felt the same way about hard-core-freak-out-smash-secular-cds-in-your-gara ge Christians who give the rest of us bad names.
Believe and love what you want, but dont ruin it for the rest of us.
http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2002/jul/17isync.h tml Cingular and Apple are already buddies. With Moto's exclusive offering of the new RAZR phone with Cingular, perhaps are budding relationship will truly blossom with an iPhone to tie it all together.
this being said, in a world where people are used to not being able to own anything, it is nice to be able to own something. my music is a good place to start.
I thought a fun way to piss them off would be to offer up TONS of mp3s labeled "50 cent: in da club" or "metalica: one" and all sorts of big name artists/titles and have the mp3s audio simply contain "RIAA thank you for downloading this MP3" over and over again. ha
The folks at C&G ( http://thinksecret.com/news/wsjcasadygreene.html ) developed soundjam, which rocked. I actually bought it! Apple liked it and brought it into the fold and made iTunes. Thats what third party developers should be doing.
Just wait... you know Apple has a Photoshop killer in queue and will drop that bomb on Adobe when the time is right. Probably about the time the new suite off "office" apps come out, iWorks or whatever it will be called.
Apple's stuff rocks because they are OS and hardware. So why not apps? How would you like to be able to preview and buy apps right from.Mac? They are going to do it with fonts with FontBook.
The one bad thing I see if Apple does its iPhotoShop product, is that Adobe will only make PS for MSFT and the brand name of Photoshop will send people to windows.
AppleBC is way more likely with ties to Disney.

The major plus of the H.264 codec is that it scales from HD to web phone.

heck, I am from seattle. what I say about starbucks MUST be the truth.
Peet's was founded by the same crew that founded Starbucks.
Hasn't Michael Jackson been quoted saying that Apple is doing it right with the iTunes music store?
