hmmm, in response to your good things (refer to parent):

    1) Can I PLEASE have an real english speaker, not American english. One could argue that the constant interruption (please prepare to turn left in 700 yards...please turn left in 200 yards...please turn left now...you have turned left, well done...continue on this road for 1.6 miles.) a bit annoying and hence distracting (or headache inducing anyway).
    2) Lesson...Stop...Check POI, program, drive...Yes, and I can't wait to see McDonalds arches on MY Sat Nav (maybe it will bring the price down having POI adverts).
    3) Lesson...Stop...Check Map...Drive. (Whatever you do, DO NOT RELY ON WIFE IN PASSENGER SEAT!) Constantly flicking eyes to the map on your dashboard could be construed as similar, however you don't have to keep finding yourself on a large map.
    4) Slow down then.
    5) Radio...well, when it works...Usually end up hearing it on the entry sliproad to the motorway (freeway for US folk).
    6) Like my milkman, large tractors hogging the road at 8h30 in the morning just in rush hour traffic. cool.
    7) I do like my Sat Nav, but use it wisely. (like speed camera locations ;) )

All-in-all I believe that my Radio/CD player is WORSE than my Sat Nav for me while driving...Trying to switch off TPA or change channel while driving...

Actually, the US had a maximum of 40-bit encryption for export limit on. this was then increased to 56-bit under the condition that the first 16 bits were the US governments 16-bit public encryption key, hence keeping the limit to 40-bits for all intents and purposes.

I have no idea if this has now increased to 128-bit (it wouldn't surprise me as SSL is 128-bit now and there are many SSL pages originating from the US, not to mention that oracle exports SSL and 128-bit encryption).

In fact, I believe that there is just a limit on the countries now, such as cuba, iran, syria and a few others. To be brutaly frank, my wife is unable to install an oracle installation otherwise she (and hence I) could be in breach of US laws...in the UK! pfft.

This tactic is underhanded and one of the reasons why I never recommend Intel processors (apart from their power consumption, heat generation etc. etc. etc.)

I would suggest AMD contact microsoft and attempt to make them limit the number of connections to their server to 5 for Intel chips...See how they like that (not that MS would ever do that considering their allegiance).

I apologise, I didn't mean to generalise the American population, merely pointing out that if enough people request something, government will do something about it, or lose. Problem is that US politics is more about capitalism and money than about the people and their needs. Shame really, I am sure your founding fathers never envisaged the situation your are in now .Americans faught a war against us (the brits) to lay down your own rights (rightly so) and now you are slowly draining those rights to a niche few who are lawyers and IP holders. I have yet to see in America, or any where else, a group create a movement large enough to disrupt government. I guess the days of free speech are really over (look at the muslim cartoons now). I'm sorry, this has turned into a rant and completely off-topic.

At the end of the day, if people boycott the company (nvidia/ati) until they replace existing users cards and release new cards which include the right components. Get a couple of million US people to agree to that and then send ATI/Nvidia/Government the results of your petition...See how they react. In fact, lobby...then you can become one with the rest of the industry lobbies...groan...going off-topic again...STOP

  12. Re:Hmmmm... on The Great HDCP Fiasco · · Score: 4, Interesting
We have laws in the UK which stipulate that the product sold must be able to do what the advertising (or box) says that it will. If the box says that it does HDCP then the manufacturer is obliged to provide a card that does so. If the packaging/advertising does not mention HDCP then they have no requirements to provide this functionality. In the case of Nvidia, they can say their chip supports HDCP without problems. However if board manufacturers use this statement in their marketing and don't provide the actual hardware to support this then under UK law you can demand a replacement that does or your money back.

If you don't have laws like this in the US then you're mugs. Tell you what, I'll sell you a ham sandwich which includes two slices of bread. You got a sandwich, what more do you want?

On another note, if US do have this rule, isn't it interesting that ATI and Nvidia board manufacturers haven't started provided full HDCP compliance? It seems to indicate that HDCP requirements won't be necessary for another year yet...Delayed Vista? Maybe...

This is a great time to buy...The buying company agrees to pay off the lawsuits (explaining that new management would be part of the deal) for Take Two (who may not have the cash) and take over Take Two at a reduced price for bailing Take Two out. Thereby closing the lawsuits and Take Two board keeping their jobs (for the time being) or being paid off. The buying company therefore makes a clean break, keeps the GTA name alive and rakes in profit from Bethesda's Oblivion and continuation of GTA (and other titles).

Good time to act is now, and it would increase the share value of the buying company (and therefore, invariably, that of Take Two under the guise of the new company).

We may be influenced by what we play, but to compare that to bringing wrath into the real world is simplifying the issue.
