Hey, If the software publishers are able to push questionable DRM onto my personal machine after buying a game (or a license to use) it should be illegal for the said publisher to stop providing the services for using the game unless a refund or rebate is given.
Either that or clients are given free and only monthly charges occur! You pay while you play. Actually buying a client that then gets "switched off" effectively means you are purchasing a temporary game.

I would have to agree with the majority of the comments on here, this is a bad idea. I have seen companies where consoles are in the lunchroom, untouched...A rather well-known British brand at that...
Having said that, I have also worked at a company that had a games room. In it was a pool table, a vending machine, and 2 arcade machines, Gauntlet and Street Fighter...Both better played with colleagues/friends. Yes we used them, mostly after work and sometimes at lunchtimes...And the pool table was used by FAR more often than any game machine.
However, the most exciting place here was the stairwell where a large group of 20 or so smokers would congregate to discuss ideas...and this was a Games company...
I would look at getting a pool table...Or even better (and here is a spark of genius), a membership to a local sports centre where you can go swim, pull weights, play squash/tennis/badmington etc. By far the best would be to give them once a week 1.5 hours for lunch and they can go trash out their frustrations in their given sport...And being developers...well, you know...
And worse, it's not just for getting into America...If you visit Disney World or Sea World you will need to be fingerprinted again...Nice way for the US government to keep track of your movements!!!
If I purchased more than 1 game every 6 months or so I would be castrated.
If I purchase music CDs more than twice every 6 months, I would be castrated.
If I went to the movies to see every film that looks cool in the adverts on my television, I would be castrated (twice).
A game either becomes finished or boring within a 2-3 month period (bar a few). 2-3 month wait avoiding castration.
I listen to music quite rarely so to warrant CD purchases requires me to REALLY like the music...
Films, far too many look cool, end up being rubbish...Waste of money, get castrated for paying for film that is deemed "Rubbish".
Moral: RIAA should be campaigning against marriage. CD, Movies and Games are bought by those that need it most and not by those that will be castrated should they dare buy anything "entertainment" related unless it includes a 3-course dinner, roses, candle lights, bath salts, oil etc.
Unfortunately the kernel module build bombs when compiling. Something to do with the header file and the installed kernel not being the exact same version...This is Suse specific and when I get time I will trawl the forums for people who got this working.
Find the torrent, download...Anyone asks, you copied it from your CD before it got scratched to hell. I doubt if you will be got after as you have paid the rights for the music...although current day USA legistlation may make this a very grey area.
When I got my work laptop back in january I struggled for about a month with Windows XP (let alone Vista) SP3 before installing Suse Linux. My productivity has gone up, my boot-up time is not longer than my morning shower, and I just find it so easy to use.
I of course have a couple of niggles but that is due to hardware and their drivers not 4 Linux kind of situation (my printer)...
Having said that, I wouldn't have enough space here to list my issues with Windows.
I do use Vista (and like it) on my family home PC. Good for games, browsing (no better than Linux) and using my printer...
I use a Windows VPC in my Windows Vista for doing specific test cases for my work (I have still to figure out vmware with Suse 11) but other than that I am Linux all there way...
So, I as a consumer for my business laptop will, from now, be asking for linux pre-installed. It is by far the most convenient O/S to date for my business needs...no doubt in my mind.

Actually, I used to work with a guy who has some "friends" in certain departments in the US that have informed him that indeed the use of cellphones can cause cancer and that the use of the earpiece does get around the issue. It has just been kept under wraps for risk of upsetting the telcoms companies
Take it at face value, this is the info gained over a cold drink in the kitchen at lunchtime...
Just think, the next astronaut could order their Dominos Pizza from the moon, browse porn, download music (doubt is BMA and RIAA will come get you on the moon)...
Just use ssh with X forwarding through to your box with an XMING (if using windows, or any linux bbox can do this) windows server running on your workstation. Advantage: no xserver running on your crunch machine, good security, simple setup.putty -http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

I am sorry, I can not believe this utter rubbish. The US and UK governments can shutdown international bank accounts, can trace mobile phones, phones, internet connections. They can track the electricity usage of areas, they can use electro magnetic weaponry to take out computers, they can use heat source signature to identify target computers. In other words, if they use computer attached equipment, they know where you are and what you do. This story stinks, and so does the current US administration.
They will replace them for free? Hell, there is most likely a market for people WANTING to buy a plate with WTF in it...along with FFS, PIG, TIT, TOS, FUK, FUC, URF etc...
For instance, did you know that according to the supreme court there is NO expectation of protection against crimes by the police? They are there to maintain the peace, not to protect you. That's your responsibility. This is the stupidest sentance I have read all day. No protection from the police but I can't use my gun to defend myself from the police...I really don't get this!
Essentially, the idea is that a democracy puts power in the hands of the people. Ask any political scientist about the political uses of lethal force. To have political power one must ultimately be willing to wield lethal force.
In short, yes, the point of all those guns is so crowds of angry citizens can overthrow their corrupt leaders. Whenever they want.
So let me get this straight...You think that by having an armed population that the whole population will unite and overthrow the Government? Dream on...What will happen will be similar to what is happening in Zimbabwe as I type this...A tyrannical leader with high friends in the military and police will give arms to their supporters to go out and create havoc. The ONLY things that maintaining public access to guns will achieve is crime, civil war and misery.
I have an ultimate solution however. Keeping with your second amendments, let the people have their guns...I actually have no issue with people owning guns...Now bullets, that's where my issue lies...Ban the Bullets...nothing in the second amendment about that huh! You have arms (not that you can use them)...Karem
The title is so completely wrong that it is actually a lie. The UK can not hold people without charge for 42 days. It remains 28 days. The vote in the commons has taken place on the bill. This is the first step. In now needs to go through the house of lords where, if there is any sense there, it will be thrown own and never make it onto the statute books.
In addition to all the hype surrounding this, at least there is a legal framework. Bear in mind that the US uses its Guantanamo Bay as a jail for indefinite detention with no access to a lawyer. I kind of prefer the UK version, no?
Excuse me for point out the blatantly (to me) obvious statement here:
The deal, brokered by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, occurred after Cuomo's office threatened the ISPs with fraud charges I read this as to get the ISP to do what the Attorney General wanted, the Attorney General will withold prosecuting the ISP for fraud. To me this is a green light to the ISP (Worldcom/MCI remember) to commit fraud in return for blocking child porn sites. Indeed, the way it is written suggests these companies have already committed fraud and will be prosecuted unless they do as the Attorney General states. Does anyone else have the word 'blackmail' on their lips? Or even the fact that your Attorney General is knowingly allowed fraud to occur, with your money?
Not sure if it's different in the US, but in the UK I have yet to buy, or hear of anyone buying, a machine that doesn't come with a physical copy of Windows (XP or Vista).
Some, like Dell, put their stickers on the machines prior to shipping so you can't exchange them, but the CD comes shrinkwrapped with the T&C's...
Out of curiosity, where does this stop? Are we (or at least citizens of the US) allowed to sell our copies of Windows XP/Vista that came with our new machine (that we don't want or need)?
That kind of depends on which axis your time scale is on doesn't it?

If I had just been buggered/raped by a 6ft taliban, the last thing I would want is to relive it in minute detail...
gamers reported more cases of depression and substance abuse than their compatriots
This is flawed, gamers just misunderstood the question about coke...

What about protected PDF file then?
Well, why stop there? Print it on toilet roll paper and then feed it through their letter box so they have to spend 10 years just picking it up!
Seriously though, have you not thought why the US (and others) are looking to return to the moon by 2012? Used all these resources, move on...
