But then if you believe that afghanistan was instantly a successfull war and that its all over now, Im guessing your reading a bit too much into fox news in general.

Nonsense, its because of GP that people even know what these people get up to. And the congressmen, or in the current case, the president himself are so far in the pockets of the oil companies they dont need any persuasion.
You might prefer that greens sit at home and write angry letters to those congressmen, which will then get binned. Newsflash for you -> publicity stunts work, they raise awareness. Thats why people in the media use them. If you show me a TV station that gives non violent, quiet and unphotogenic protests any enws coverage, then Ill agree with you, but they dont. Publicity stunts get the right issues discussed on the news.

If you would rather events like the exxon valdez disaster or bhopal just got quietly ignored as they would be without GP, then thats a matter for your conscience. As far as I know Exxon mobil havent paid a single dollar in compensation for that valdez shipwreck, and thats even after GPS campaigns. So yes, musicians are getting screwed by their publishers. But self-funded game developers get screwed even worse, and in many cases the 'portal' wont even mention the name of the developer. Thats like saying theres a new song called 'Billie Jean' made by Sony Records, and not mentioning michael jackson.

Once cars are electric, you can use any system you want (such as solar) to initially generate that power source. Oil-powered cars require oil, its a transport system with zero flexibility. If we find a way to extract energy from internet flamewars in the future, electric cars can switch to that power without modification.
So its a step in the right direction.

good questions, but lets ask those same questions about normal gas cars that most people use now. Especially as the trend in the US is for those cars to get bigger and LESS fuel efficient, rather than the more sensible direction towards greater fuel efficiency.
Any new system will have problems, but this sounds like a step in the right direction.
Sadly, its always the extreme versions like this that get the PR. I wouldnt have bought a C5, and I wouldnt drive this, or even a Smart Car, but given a choice between 5 or 6 hatchbacks in my price range, I'll certainly be attracted to the one with better fuel economy. Its about time car companies started boasting about the fuel economy in their ads, rather than still trying to imply we will get more sex in their brand of car ;(

If you really want to make a difference with this, you need to vote with your wallet and just not buy a game thats packed with ads. It annoys me that reviewers dont mention the number of unskippable ads or product placements in games. I wouldnt be surprised if 'review copies' didnt have any in though.
Its another good reason to buy indie games though, Im so annoyed by ads I place the pledge that my games are ad-free right on the top of my homepage.

If what you do is produce information, it doesnt matter how widely you become 'known' for giving away free information, that will not pay the rent. We already have a free market system for people increasing their value, its called free demos, free services, ad-supported services. Google gives you a search engine for free, but it charges for the ads. Thats fine.
If the web truly makes copying media ubiquitous and free, then the content providers either literally starve to death, or they go out and become lumberjacks. Or failing that, all digital content becomes the work of part-time hobbyists.
None of these situations is desirable. If not being able to copy my Star Wars DVD is the price of ensuring that such products continue to be made, then thats fine with me. I draw the line at Rootkits and phoning home, but to brand all DRM the same is just wrong.

Maybe im missing something, but im damned SURE we arent running out of tides or sun or wind. All 3 technologies are 100% safe, and here in the UK, the tidal and wind energy potential is huge. This also makes for a much more decentralised and distributed system, resistant to mass failure / attack.
Sure these energy sources are expensive, but recent quotes put the decommissioning costs for our current nukes at 70 billion pounds , thats around 120 billion dollars. When we are talking sums like that, I cant help thinking we could build a serious amount of large offshore wind and tidal barrages and get the same power.
Given that the safety record of nuclear stations in the UK is disgracefull, id prefer to have penny pinching companies cut safety corners on wind turbines than reactor cooling systems.

That way only poor people pay taxes that pay for defence, roads and other local services, and you get a rise in your standard of living.
