That was the incident that started it all. Later they discovered that wasn't from an airplane. In a month 5-10 ice blocks like this fall from the sky. Some of them were pure hoax (you know, in Spain we have a wicked sense of humour), but the rest were very dificult to explain.
It was a strange thing that occuped Spanish TVs for 2 weeks, every day discovering other strange ice block somewhere.
I suppose that article is the result of later investigations.

  5. Ready to fly in Spain on Broadband via Power Cables trials in Scotland · · Score: 2, Informative

In Spain this technology are taking off. The most important power corporation here (Endesa) are doing the "Massive Test" since february in Zaragoza, (Medium/Big city with about 600,000 hab) with about 2000 test users. Before, more simple experiences taked place in Barcelona and Sevilla.
They use two technologies one with 2/3 Mb/sec (ASCOM) and another with 6/11 Mb/sec (DS2). I personaly used one of this stations and worked pretty well. The big problem at first was that "Modems" were huge (I saw it, huge an heavy), but last time a talked with one of the technicians said they can reduce it now to a DSL modem size.
Seems to work well if they take that big and expensive test.

    What would you do then?
All countries will have a new terrorism in their countries that we never had... In fact we are trying hard to integrate this people only because we don't want this things happen.
You will go to Spain (In my case) and clean all by yourselves?. Then in France? in Germany?
We are trying hard to integrate our inmigrants, fighting racism, controlling their number, and now that things are beginnig to go well, you came with all this shit....
We have a lot of victims of our own terrorism, (only about 1000 sorry) and never wanted to implicate other countries in our things.
I know you will do wathever you want, afterall, the rest of the world doesn't exists for the most of you.

I think it's a plain "money" talk, don't bother the death has occurred or will happen in the future. They will use the kind of war that would spent the most high-tech expensive weapons he can, only to fill the weaponry industries.
Now it's time for make money dudes.... You can't make money from peace, it only take a few meetings and being positive. This is clear plain the only war politics of the states years ago.
All your government its just calling your proud for fill their pockets, and you can't note this if you're from the states.

  14. I've done it with Java/samba combo. CVS planned on Ask Slashdot: Heterogeneous Network Backups w/Linux? · · Score: 1

I has this problem in my workplace. Some WinNTWS machines needed to be 24x7 running (Oh my...!!) and must be replaced in minutes if(when) something goes wrong. I've made a Java Server that makes copies of some shares through sambatar to a Linux machine every X minutes. When we replace the HD of the failed machine with a fresh copy of an empty WinNT, we touch a "token" file in the shares of the PC and the server restores the information automatically with the latest Copy. It works fairly well.
Ah!! I have another question, is possible to use CVS as a backup server? I think it could be amazing. Someone tried this?
