My martial arts teacher just broke his foot. His gait altered significantly. What's the backup to the gait detection? A password? Another biometric? Lockout if you fail? Or do you have to call up the cell phone company and give them more personal information?
And what happens when the power goes out, praytell?
Keys are used almost everywhere for the simple reason that they work. They don't require power, transmissions or anything else. Just insert and turn.
I'm just graduating from a master program in information systems, and we interact a lot with the accoutants. The interesting part is that the systems people earn about $10,000 more per year than the accountants (and I'm at a top school for accounting). So yeah, there are rules, and it's a system, but it doesn't pay as well as tech.
Have some, they're not terribly effective (but I bought the under $100 ones). They do reduce sound a lot better than normal headphones, but not enough to warrent the additional cost, at least to me. They also require additional power (batteries). I'm assuming that the $300+ varieties are significantly better.
Not just ancient Greek. One of the reasons that Thomas Aquinus (1225-1274) was considered for sainthood was that he could read without speaking. It was common then (in any language) to write with no spaces, ALL CAPS (miniscule letters didn't exist, and there was no punctuation.

I have mine on my keychain since that's something reasonably large, and I'm not going to forget it anywhere without noticing the weight missing from my pocket. Hasn't died from 1+ year of being there. If wearing it around your neck works for you, great.
I have no problem with individualization. I've seen some people sticker their computer, sticker their car, I just hadn't figured on people sticker-izing their usb drive.
I've seen both. Just spent a summer in the South (I know Arkansas isn't considered the South by some, but that's irrelevant). I'm a Yank, and found the pronuciations as endearing as the hospitality.
Recently covered these things in a class. Apparently after a few thousand writes they fail rather magnificently. The drive has to keep track of where it's written, and try to write uniformly over the less-used sectors. Learning that made me a little more cautious about how often I use mine (I know it won't make a real difference, but still). Guess that and the speed difference compared to a hard disk (which is MUCH faster) means we won't see these revolutionizing large (GB) data storage nor replacing hard drives.
Admittedly most of the brazilian engines were hybrids, for running either alcohol or gasoline. However even those that were strictly alcohol had issues starting in the winter.
Well, temperature, for one thing.
I've been in Brazil where they use alcohol (or at least fuel of which a high percentage is alcohol). Once you get below about 50 F, the car just won't start.
One local gas station in MA tried to use higher than legal percentages of alcohol in the gas, and wondered why they were inspected. Most of their regular users' cars wouldn't start on a cold winter morning (~20 F).
I would state that it's the judicial recently that's gotten out of control. 4 judges in MA recently MADE law, which is the legislation's perogative. That's been happening for the past 50 years. Judges no longer rule on law and precident, but on their private agenda of what they think the law "should be". This puts way too much power in the judicial, as the only control over them is that they'll eventually die off.
You mean all of "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" (Heinlein) took place in Mickey Mouse type voices? How am I going to get that image out of my head the next time I read that?
Mod parent up.
The woman in my life is quite well educated in her field (we're both master's students). I don't know as much about civil engineering as she does, nor mechanics for that matter. If we were to go buy a car, she's the one who'd be looking under the hood. I'm the one who builds the computers. This works out well for both of us.
Were a salesdroid to insult her, I'd be down on his manager so fast to fire someone who's removing his customer base, besides boycotting that store, and recommending the same to my friends.
I am a manager's worst nightmare, the 1 person out of the 27 that have a problem who speaks up, and won't shut up. The fact that I know that, and use it gives me lots of leverage when I do encounter a problem.
We covered the article in an IT strategy class. Basic conclusion. Only if it's your core strategy. Only if what you do and who you are depends on it, and you continue to invest in IT. Otherwise, second place is good enough (Try telling K-Mart that about Wal-Mart though).
Just remembered two Terry Pratchett quotes (unfortunatly I don't have Feet of Clay or Guards Guards with me so they're not word for word). First is that the size ratio means that short people earn equivalently more money (food and drinks go further). Second, when their waist is as high as your head, your teeth are at an inconvient height for them... and their knees are at the right height to chop off.

Any I've attempted have worked so far (minor issues possible with uhci-usb and usbcore on some installations).

Hain't never seen nobody wear one around their neck. Generally on keychains, but even then, I've NEVER seen one with stickers. What, why, huh, WHO?

Ummm... no. Spoke to a novell rep last week (I'm in provo) and they've converted completely (she was complaining that she couldn't use visio anymore).

Asimov, from the cases of the black widowers. Now, I am saddest ;)
