    Am I the only person who is amazed by the obvious stupidity of writing a law that makes some forms of payment illegal *for something which is illegal in the first place* (specifically selling stolen goods).

    All you're doing is classifying people as criminals who are otherwise innocent of any obvious wrongdoing.

    And SOMEHOW you think this will make hunting down *people who have done something wrong* easier/simpler/faster/cheaper.

    I for one applaud the Government educating our children on the techniques and technologies required to circumvent finger-print scanners, I'm sure such skills will be much sought-after in the future.

    OF course, don't you know this is actually a part of the deliberate manipulation of society by The FBI/CIA/DHS/DEA/(insert-other-acronym-here). If every child in the country ias to swipe an appendage against the same physical location *and then are unable to suitably clean their hands* I'm sure the next news will be the FBI "discovering" that terrorists are plotting to bio-infect school scanners to kill off our children. Or more likely it will be that an entire town has been infected with an unknown virulent pathogen and The President has authorised the use of nuclear weapons in the interest of National Security.

    Insert DHS field-day here, Rights- what rights? You Have The Right To Remain Patriotic - what MORE could anyone want?

    After approximately 19.2 yrs of 15-mins-a-day (everyday) you will have successfully *spent* those "extra three years" doing exercise.

    The real questions needing to be answered are
    • after 15 mins a day does your quality of life improve or are you just likely to live slightly longer
    • 15-mins-a-day for a couple of months, or for the rest of my life
    • and if I live more than 20 yrs, do I get more than just three years (because it rapidly becomes a loss not a gain)

    Just to be clear, *NOBODY* claims this behaviour is true of *ALL* P2P filesharers.

    However all the studies (other thn marketing propaganda by The **AA) clearly show that *OVERWHELMINGLY* most filesharers end up actually *BUYING* significantly more music.

    And by MORE I do mean
    • more than before they were filesharing
    • more than they "pirate"
    • collectively MORE is being purchased than pirated, ie there is SALES GROWTH AS A DIRECT RESULT OF FILESHARING

    Like the federal funding for those businesses considered "too big to fail" , it's not about HOW you SCREWUP but the SCALE that matters.

    Killing scattered individuals by the many tens of thousands (annually) is insignificant compared to the ~3000 killed in the (single incident) 9/11 attack.

    Seriously folks, if you cant to talk about "the bazillions killed annually" why not badger the government to do something about the destruction of society caused by smokers/cigarettes/tobacco.

    History shows clearly that somehow we always manage to vote in a pack of incompetent ,corrupt and/or morally bankrupt thugs who have their own private agenda and do not actually (collectively) care about managing the nation well.

    They have almost literally zero integrity.

    They're almost always full of promises beforehand and full of broken promises afterwards.

    I realize that is an inherent feature of the job (as opposed to a personal failing on their part), at least in our current/modern democratic society.

    The system as it stands is badly broken, unfortunately I for one have no suggestions on how to fix it.

    Que? From what I heard, the people who were running this scam (the bankers, etc) *knew* exactly how crap their debt was, and they *deliberately* "re-packaged" it so that it did not look like a turd. Oh Sure what they did was *very* carefully within the letter of the law, but THEY KNEW PERFECTLY WELL they were fucking the system hard against a wall.

    They just honestly believed they would not get caught because they believed "things would not go pear-shaped".

    If this was caused by "people mistakes" there's not much we can really do, nobody gets punished, and nobody is held accountable.

    If this was caused by industry-wide systemic faults within the financial trading systems (programs etc) then *someone* somewhere would be held accountable, made to pay restitution, and actual changes would be implemented.

    I for one am not even slightly surprised to hear this announcement today.
