    It has nothing to do with Gateway/AmigaInc anymore so I guess the icon is wrong.

    QNX has done a deal with Phase5 http://www.phase5.de ( Makers of G4 cards, Gfx cards etc for Amiga and Mac platform) to supply QNX with the PPC cards for Amigas and also for the Amirage computer, sounds like pretty cool hardware.

    Sounds like a very cool machine, just hope it doen`t turn out to be A mirage:)

    Runs QNX, provides compatibility with Amiga software, should run linux PPC I guess. Dont know if you could run macOS on it though.

    Amstrad had a PC that didn`t use a fan around ten years ago and they couldn`t sell it, the media didn`t beleive it didn`t need one so wrote about suspect reliability in the reveiws.

    In the end Alan Sugar had them fitted with fans just to shut up the sceptics, when asked why he did this he said "I`ll paint them pink with polka dots if it makes them sell better"(probaly not his exact words but near enough).

    IIRC after he said this they painted their building pink with black polka dots.

    My local Video Library stocks DVD for rent.
    Almost all the stores that sell VHS also sell DVD.

    You seem to think DVD is only used on PCs, You can buy stand alone players that plug into your TV.

    All three sites back up your statement about ROBBERY. However if you look at the murder rates quoted :

    No one is trying to say that there is no crime in the UK, there is, mainly theft related. Car crime nearly doubled between 85 and 92, this hardly compares with being killed.
    I guess it all boils down to whether you would rather be murdered or robbed/assualted etc.

    At what stage would it be ok for Armed teachers to shoot a child? Before they pull a gun? After X number of pupils have been Killed?

    I can just imagine the outcry after a teacher blows away a child who was playing up, only to find it was a Mars Bar in his hand!!

    If I remeber correctly Sony fought the case until the very end to prevent a dangerous precedent being set. Once they won the case they realised he wouldn`t ever release anything so they let him buy himself out of the deal for a very large sum of money.

    Arent you the former Amiga Engineer who knew all the nitty gritty about the NG but were bound by the NDA ?

    I guess this press release means you can tell all now :) as they are no longer in the hardware business.

    As a user of Amiga forever I couldnt agree more with your post. Its more compatible than my A1200 was. I played Robocop for the first time in about 8 years the other day.

    I have to agree with you. As an amiga user for more than ten years I probably shouldnt however, all this constant changing directions, changing leadership, changing Kernel etc etc just makes them look mickey mouse. Better to keep quiet until they actually produce something than to be written off before anthing is released.

    Or you could buy the Amiga Forever CD and get UAE and all the ROMs from I think 1.2 to 3.1( the online edition now comes with 1.3,3.0 and 3.1).

    Didnt the U originally stand for Unusable ?

    These don't, thats the innovative thing. Still it must be the only truly innovative thing they have done.

    One of the truly amazing things to come out of the DOJ case is MSloths claim that they can only innovate if there is a monopoly, and to think I thought it was competition that promotes true innovation.

    This may be the case, but then why would they be hiring all these highly educated proffesionals? just to sit on their backsides?
    Yes we should wait for the products before we get excited, if its going to be as good as they say for the price they are saying I`ll be the first in line, if its half as good and twice the price that they say then I wont.

    How can they? most of the components do go into production until the end of the year. If they demonstrated a rough prototype with boards hanging out of the side and a half done OS that crashed frequently would that Impress you? I don`t think so.

    Thats funny, the last official hardware for amiga came out in `92 this hardly qualifies as lemming behaviour.

    I guess we could go out and buy a pc sound or video card but they wouldn`t fit.

    As the PPC add on boards are almost as expensive as a budget PC I can't quite see how they can make an entire computer to this spec for as cheap as they seem to be implying.

    Compared to the US it probably is. Compared to the UK it is a lot cheaper. I lived in OZ between '75 and '86 and I still find it incredible that you could talk to someone all day for 20c (at the time ).

    Delphi and CBuilder have always supported MFC but the main framework is their VCL. What that last story meant was that borland products will support the most up to date MFC. In the past the MFC supplied hasn`t always been current so MS products appeared better.

    I think this is unlikely as their are a number of fetures that integrate the editor and the forms, for example you click on a menu item on a form the ide takes you to the relevent place in the code, I can`t see how they could implement this with a third party editor.
