  1. Re:Flight issues at small scale? on World's Smallest Homebrew RC Unit · · Score: 2, Interesting

    Its all about Mass.

a full scale (real) heli in a hover is easier to control due to the mass of the aircraft. wind and turbulance have much less effect on it and the craft as a whole reacts "slower".

when you get down to the .60 size choppers slight winds and such that wouldnt be even felt with a full scale start to buffet the chopper requiring more input . it also reacts quicker then the fullscale due to less mass being thrown around.

when you get to something like the pixel sized... a small fan can be catostrophic.

same with airplanes. a 1/2A scale plane (.049 sized engine) is a whole lot harder to fly then a 40% giant.... but a lot cheaper.

  2. too expensive. on New Draganflyer Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle · · Score: 1

even with the radio gear that price is way over what I would pay for an electric RC just to get myself thrown in jail.

for that money I can probably set up a larger glow fuel powered version out of foam or balsa.

hell for a few bucks more I might be able to get the stuff to construct a fiberglass version (would have to learn how to glass first)

Dragan's stuff is neat but overpriced.

    better yet.

get control of the "shutdown" station. then at a predetermined spot. shut a truck down. take out the driver. back up a non "shutdown" tractor to it.. and away you go.

makes setting up an ambush for those pesky trucks doing 70MPH alot easier for those that want it.

I like the smiley face jolly roger from defcon better. but then again this is from someone that wanted to take that logo and sail around on a 14' sailboat in the local resevoir and raid partyboats looking for "loot" (sandwiches, beer, etc.....hey... when your the pirates of a lake you gotta take what you can get).

this is total BS according to Lackey.

havenco did not have a "sealed oxegen free room" it had 5 lan racks with about 15 servers on there.... thats it.

apparently they spent more money on getting a flakey wireless link up then they did on servers.

also in the talks he said that sealand has like 2 people residing there now.... and he said that a armed takeover would take about 10 minutes..... so anyone have a chopper I can borrow?

There already has talk about this on http://www.rcuniverse.com about the effects of the homeland security and the genral paranoia of the public.

the main concern is someone attaching some kind of payload to a RC plane and flying it over a large gathering of people.

if they start cracking down on RC then I'm moving.
