For my next lesson, we'll learn about varios modifiers to hit due to varions situations and weather and such.

First, since the grass is wet ans slippery, making dodgeing hard, you suhbtract -1 from thac0, then you have to calculate if the sun is in their eyes, the formula for this is pi * the speed of an african swallow divided by the half life of bannaium, a radioactive metal often found on the planet blargh. After that you add George Bush's IQ to the total number of cheeto stains on your DM's shirt and divide by the number of stars in the cosmos. After that, you say screw this game and go hit a bar instead.

  4. Re:Imagine that.. on How D&D Shaped the Modern Videogame · · Score: 1

thac0 is easy as pie to figure out.

Take your character's thac0, subtract target's AC, that is the number you need to roll to hit (Note, 20 always hits)

So for example, someone has a thac0 of 20 and attacks something with an AC of 6. 20-6=14
    or someone with a thac0 of 9 attacks something with an AC of -3, 9 - -3 = 12

It'd be freaking 2nd grade math if it wasn't fior the negatives (which isn't exactly a difficult concept)

You don't need to beat Warcraft 3 to unlock God mode, so why mention it at all? And god mode even after you've beaten a game can be fun just for the sake of screwing around. My cousin, for example, is a huge Resident Evil 4 fan and has unlocked everything, but he still plays with the uber weapons you unlock because you can still have fun with mindless destruction without worrying about life or ammo or whatever.

Uhm..... F-Zero GX has 3 difficulty levels (4 with unlocks) on the standard cup race, which is the main focus of the game. Two of those difficulties are really easy, even for a beginner. You may be talking about Mission mode which only has Normal and Hard, both of which are really difficult, but they seem to be intended for people who have beaten the Master difficulty based on the kind of stuff the unlock (Secret racers and top end parts for custom vehicles)

Anyawy, I think i'm gonna go dust off my cube and play some F-Zero, I haven't touched it in awhile.

I can't say I fully agree about the jump from PS1-PS2. Sure, the PS1 did 3d graphics but for a lot of games(not all) they were terribly ugly (Xenogears, and FF7 for a couple quick titles). For the most part I find that PS1's graphics aged terribly. It's too early to tell just how much of a graphics jump we will see for the PS2 and PS3 seeing as it isn't even out yet. The first couple generations of games for a system NEVER look nearly as good as the system is capable of.

Personally, i'm hoping we see more AA in next-gen titles, there is something about jaggies that just drives me crazy, and so many console games have them.
