With the airlines tightening down on baggage limits, why should anyone be bringing a 12-pack of cola with them on a plane? Dose anyone here regularly carry 12-pack boxes of cola on flights? If so, why?
You can still be slim even if you eat greasy, calorie-filled fast food if you excercise enough (to a point). My guess is that if they are sitting infront of the TV, they are stilling infront of a computer playing games or surfing the net, which really isn't much better than watching TV for most people.
Besides, why would mega corps spend billions on TV ads if no one watches them?
If people are watching less TV, then why are they still getting fatter?
Personally, I disagree that more regulations are needed. Rather, I think that we Americans need to get off of our fat asses and start looking for alternate news sources other than Fox News or CNN. A simple Google search shows more than enough alternate views and stories than what the main stream medias show.
Do you really want tigher FCC control of the TV and Radio after what happend to the Superbowl half time show and Howard Stern?
I guess we should start banning fast food resturants since they are responsible for the people becoming fat I had my share of credit cards. And guess what? No one pointed a gun to my head and told me that I had to use them. Instead of bitching, I did some research and found that you can actually deprive those greed credit card companies by playing the balance transfer game.
If you think that MS EULA's evil, try reading the terms put out by those credit card companies. If you don't bother to read the terms and use the cards nevertheless, YOU are the ignorant fool.
Really, are those fast computers such a necessity that you have to sell your soul (and future paychecks) to the credit card compaines?
Geeks will never end up controlling the government because geeks are willing to spend months playing upcoming games like Doom 3 and Half Life 2 but are unwilling to spend a couple of hours waiting in line to vote.
You're forgetting that this is Slashdot. The normal protocal is to use credit cards for buying computers/gadgets worth thusands of dollars and then blame the evil greedy credit card companies for getting them into debt.
I believe that large corporations donate to both Republican and Democrat parties. Those corporations know that it's important to diversify their investments.
Didn't you notice that Saudi Arabia and Kuwait always among the first ones to boost their oil output when the gas prices in the U.S. becomes to excessive? Oil is a big part of U.S. economy and that's why U.S. has military bases over there. I doubt that Kerry will pull all the soldiers out of the middle east if he gets elected because a lot of people will be pissed if the gas price suddenly doubled.
I'm in the Army Reserves and I had a chance to talk to many soldiers just came back from Iraq during my active duty training. Most of them enjoyed their tour and told me that most Iraqis they met where greatful that they were there because they were building schools and hospitals (not to mention that they weren't fans of Saddam).
One of the reasons given by France for staying out of the war is that going to war will make them a target for terrorists. Then they turned around and banned religious clothing in schools (which means no headscarfs for Muslim women). That cause Muslim militants to vow terrorist acts against France. Face it, those militants are type of people who'll blow your car up if you take too long to change lanes.
So you are saying that the end justifies the means? Moore could have easily proved that Bush's a lier without having to use more lies and half-truths (which I consider to be even more worse than lies). I've watched Moore's movies in the past and I find them entertaining and I'll most likely watch F9/11 as well. However, I find it quite that there are people to watch his movies for educational reasons.
My bad, I didn't get to see the parent post as it was deleted. I'm taking back my statement about you having a supersized ego.
As for Kerry, I would have considered voting for him if McCain joined his ticket. I supported him (McCain) during his bid for the past nomination as he's known to not to blindly agree with the party leaders.
It's quite sad when people start to think that they can learn everything that they need to learn about politics from a movie. No wonder why candidates have to rely on big corporate donations to run expensive TV ads because the voters are too fat and lazy to do their own research.
Do you know that's ruining this country? It's people who live above their means, run up debit, file mass bankruptcies, and driving the economy down during the long run.
As far as I'm concerned, Bush and Kerry are the same and I will not vote for any of them (but I will vote).
Talking about brainwashing, just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them brainwashed even though your extra large ego may tell you otherwise.
Can it see through clothing, and will they have a version that will look like normal pair glasses? I'll only be using it for educational purposes, of course.

But many of us here on slashdot uses the downloaded version of Linux (Slackware 10.0 on my case). How is Gartner supposed to track that?

Most people on /. think that rich=right-wing.
They should just set up a special "Hello Kitty" tax. It should solve their debt problems in no time.
I know that Korea had TV taxes, at least then I lived there.

Don't worry, all that crap in the US will eventually get imported over to Europe.

An excellent speech Mr. Castro!
But you forgot to post the part where it shows that their site is hosted in Germany.
To show the world that by starving their people, North Korea is achieving the well-being of the people by avoiding obesity.

Buying motherboards made by PC-Chips. I learned that you can easily crash Linux systems if you have hardware that is crappy enough.

Many slashdotter consider the rich to be evil but consider Moore and Kerry to be their heros.
FYI, Moore is a multi-millionaire lives in a quite nice house. Besides, if Moore interviewed Linux...
Moore: Is it true that you used Minux to create Linux?
Linus: Yes I did, but the code is all original.
Now if Moore just included "Yes I did" statement while leaving out the rest, would it still be considered the truth?

I don't think that average Joe user would know how to set up a proxy server or disable ActiveX.
