    What sort of speaker and amplifier hardware is required to reproduce FLAC such that you can actually notice a difference?

    You can easily notice a visual difference of 480i -> 4K on a 4K monitory. Short of certain audiophile setups how many end users are going to actually notice FLAC vs other lossy options on their laptop speakers, headphones, etc?

    I don't think "How are the vacation and health care policies" are questions most Europeans think of when they go to interview for a new job.

    The Pro line is probably one of the last things Jobs had a hand in making. It just passed 3 years old.
    They dropped their 17" line.
    The 15" line was neutered.

    Perhaps they should concentrate on making *hardware* if they want to sell it.

    What makes Amazon Studios think they can do better than the existing studios?

    The old media companies let their guard down. If Apple started producing content that the old Discovery or TLC channel would have made they should do fine.

    The comment I replied to said "still have no idea what these companies produce".

    There's a difference between "I've never used Atlassian's Git server however I've setup my own GitLab/Hub/Gogs server. And I have not use Trello specifically but I am familiar with use of Kanban boards in the development process".

    The comment I replied to showed complete ignorance to both companies listed and the "why I should care" tells me that they have no interest in learning.

    I could see getting a bit nervous if they have not used git, but even then if they'd used any version control software, I wouldn't be too bothered.

    That's just asking for trouble. Especially for an apparent 'software' developer.

    Don't confuse quiet or content with satisfied.

    I moved all of my "This has to run when I press power" systems to FreeBSD. I still bit the bullet and run Ubuntu w/systemd the same as I run Windows 7 because that's the tool that is needed to get some jobs done. When systemd goes sideways it's easier for me to just re-install Ubuntu than deal with debugging systemd.

    It's a tough problem.

    Perhaps one that deserves some funding and thought into how it should work. Not something slapped together by a 30 year old that couldn't have had more than 10 years experience.

    Firewire was much better than USB of the day. The iPod also functioned as an external hard drive. I remember installing OS X on it and booting off of it when fixing my main drive.

    CDL isn't a bad thing to have with a technical degree.

    When I worked doing experimental on highway trucks companies almost always preferred to send an engineer with a CDL over a CDL driver AND an engineer. If something goes wrong it's easier to diagnose something you helped work.

    In the next ~5 years these trucks are going to need a lot of validation hours and tests. A CS major with a CDL would be a prime candidate to run validation tests.

    I'm sure you can put a few dollars and bright minds on a system that works reliably. The last thing I want my embedded system to do is get hung up on an init failure.

    Where? Where does he ever say that in the one line he stated? He doesn't ever mention a gender.
