What sort of speaker and amplifier hardware is required to reproduce FLAC such that you can actually notice a difference?
You can easily notice a visual difference of 480i -> 4K on a 4K monitory. Short of certain audiophile setups how many end users are going to actually notice FLAC vs other lossy options on their laptop speakers, headphones, etc?
Nigel Tufnel: The performance numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most OSs go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's faster? Is it any faster?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one faster, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your Grand Theft Auto. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One faster..
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten faster and make ten be the top number and make that a little faster?
A company has finally made a Mini sided competitor, the NUC. The Pro line is probably one of the last things Jobs had a hand in making. It just passed 3 years old. They dropped their 17" line. The 15" line was neutered.
Perhaps they should concentrate on making *hardware* if they want to sell it.
What makes Netflix think they can do better than the existing studios? What makes Amazon Studios think they can do better than the existing studios?
The old media companies let their guard down. If Apple started producing content that the old Discovery or TLC channel would have made they should do fine.
The comment I replied to said "still have no idea what these companies produce".
There's a difference between "I've never used Atlassian's Git server however I've setup my own GitLab/Hub/Gogs server. And I have not use Trello specifically but I am familiar with use of Kanban boards in the development process".
The comment I replied to showed complete ignorance to both companies listed and the "why I should care" tells me that they have no interest in learning.
I could see getting a bit nervous if they have not used git, but even then if they'd used any version control software, I wouldn't be too bothered.
That's just asking for trouble. Especially for an apparent 'software' developer.
I moved all of my "This has to run when I press power" systems to FreeBSD. I still bit the bullet and run Ubuntu w/systemd the same as I run Windows 7 because that's the tool that is needed to get some jobs done. When systemd goes sideways it's easier for me to just re-install Ubuntu than deal with debugging systemd.
Perhaps one that deserves some funding and thought into how it should work. Not something slapped together by a 30 year old that couldn't have had more than 10 years experience.
Firewire was much better than USB of the day. The iPod also functioned as an external hard drive. I remember installing OS X on it and booting off of it when fixing my main drive.
CDL isn't a bad thing to have with a technical degree.
When I worked doing experimental on highway trucks companies almost always preferred to send an engineer with a CDL over a CDL driver AND an engineer. If something goes wrong it's easier to diagnose something you helped work.
In the next ~5 years these trucks are going to need a lot of validation hours and tests. A CS major with a CDL would be a prime candidate to run validation tests.
Once you are no longer an emacs Virgin you are in the church of emacs. Therefore you can have a female taking the virginity of a emacs virgin. There is nothing in any of his statements that says a member of the church of emacs is male only.
And a follow up, why not spend some of RedHat's money on a sane init system?
I'm sure you can put a few dollars and bright minds on a system that works reliably. The last thing I want my embedded system to do is get hung up on an init failure.
Can you do it with a programmable remote from the kitchen when your hands are covered in meat juice? (With out having to decontaminate the remote after?)

Still $55/pop. I would have gone with 'cheaper'. "Super Cheap" is a bit of hyperbole.
FYI: Epinephrine is $4.79/vial.
Which is why I have a whole house DNS server that redirects to a catchall Nginx server that returns a 204.
Someone that has advanced personal knowledge of this should definitely chime in about the glories of the HOSTS file over all other options.

I don't think "How are the vacation and health care policies" are questions most Europeans think of when they go to interview for a new job.

And in the same breath Slashdotters will whine that they have relevant skillsets and that it's because of their age they can't get hired.

No, that is a rule on an emacs VIRGIN.
Once you are no longer an emacs Virgin you are in the church of emacs. Therefore you can have a female taking the virginity of a emacs virgin. There is nothing in any of his statements that says a member of the church of emacs is male only.

But I repeat myself. Where does it say anything about it having to be a male to cause her to 'lose it'?
And in the church of emacs we believe that taking her emacs virginity away is a blessed act."
Does the Church of emacs have a gender rule? Is there a reason Women can't be in the Church of emacs? Your quote expanded on nothing.
His statement implies that men are supposed to have sex with virgin women, and that women only lose their virginity to men.
Where? Where does he ever say that in the one line he stated? He doesn't ever mention a gender.
Additionally the dictionary has multiple definitions of Virgin.

2. an unmarried girl or woman.
3. Ecclesiastical. an unmarried, religious woman, especially a saint.

He's still a virgin as far as hard work is concerned.
6. a female animal that has never copulated.
7. an unfertilized insect.
8. (initial capital letter) Astronomy, Astrology. the constellation or sign of Virgo.
Adjective:
9. being a virgin:
a virgin martyr.
10. of, relating to, or characteristic of a virgin:
virgin modesty.
