The legal situation depends on the kind of footpath we're talking about. A Public Footpath is a specific kind of path that pedestrians have a legally enforcable right to use. It is not a criminal offence to cycle on a public footpath, but it is a civil offence against the landowner (i.e. the landowner can require you to leave, and pay for any damage you cause).
Normally it's a criminal offence to cycle on pavements ("sidewalks" to leftpondians) adjacent to roads, but not elsewhere. However it's fairly unenforced and in fact the Royal Mail more or less depend on postmen cycling on pavements to deliver the post.
I remember when the web started to take off, everyone said that would kill the internet. How could we possibly have enough bandwidth to cope with web pages and even (shock horror) images!
I don't have a hostile attitude to management - I've been a manager of teams of programmers.
I have a sceptical attitude to a lot of the guff that comes under the umbrella of Project Management these days - especially as it's applied to programming.
Everything needs managing in some sense (although for small software projects often this management is best done by the people doing the programming too). But that doesn't mean that a gannt chart helps you in the slightest.
Project management is a way for middle management who know nothing about programming to make themselves feel useful and screw up your programming project....
So does this mean that anyone who bought a Dell with one of these screens during that period paid more than they should have done? If so then presumably they'd have a legitimate claim against Dell and/or Hitachi?
Certainly there are some kinds of information that are exempt, but that's only reasonable - you wouldn't want everyone to get hold of you bank account details, full address, value of your properties, etc. etc. from your local authority would you?
The FoIA is not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction. There's a huge amount of stuff that public bodies are now required to make available to anyone who asks, and people are frequently making good use of this.
Me too, I courageously decided to install the firefox plugin when asked. It restarted firefox... then muttered about installing some codecs, which I also permitted, it then claimed to be restarting firefox again, but apparently just closed it.
I restarted firefox manually, tried once again to view the link, and was prompted to upgrade my version of silverlight. At this point I gave up...

Your crystal ball is broken :)

There are plenty of female heroin addicts and alcoholics...

Internet advertising is practically worthless...
Has anyone told Google?
3d images at 2,048x1,080 pixels. So... what about the third dimension?

... but my policy with my own machine is that if I don't know what something does, it doesn't run on my computer ...
So... you know exactly what windows does then?
Good programmers are cheap, bad ones are expensive.
The difference in value between good and bad programmers is seldom fully reflected in what they get paid.
Everybody thinks they're a good programmer...
"Masterminded" makes it sound like they're some evil villain from a Bond movie. Isn't this what businesses do all the time?
