    Yes, it is very funny how the dems like to "have it both ways" on almost every controversial issue.

    yeah, kinda like campaigning for a smaller government and then increasing spending for Nat'l drug council, defense, police, Coporate bailouts, CAPPS, TIA, etc, etc, etc.

    disclaimer: like a lot of the posters here I think both parties are (almost) equally corrupt and hypocritical.

    Any economist will tell you that deficit spending is a standard prctice for the govt. to get out of a recession. It worked for Reagan and looks like it's working for Bush as well.

    1: Universities are not-for-profit organizations (in general) The vast majority of Universities are state funded endeavors.

    2: there are provisions in fair use doctrine that SPECIFICALLY support copyright "infringement" for use in an educational setting. I dont know about you, but my university had this one department called the MUSIC department. We could argue all day about whether Britteny is actually music, but i bet a court would side with me.

    It is quite easy, really. Linux supporters like things that help linux and don't like things that hurt linux. I am not really sure how that counts as hypocrasy..

    You have to put a DVD/CD to play your PS2 or Xbox. What is the difference here?

    Because, I have about 20-30 games for ps1 and ps2 and I have about 300 cd's for my PC. I really don't want to have to go through all 6 spindles to find the damn quake3 cd!

    I saw a show on discovery or something about how birds can learn stuff from other birds. And some species in England learned how to drop nuts or something on pavement to crack the shells from some imported birds (maybe of the same species?).

    Maybe you could find examples of groups that had figured out how to avoid the propellers and sort of cross breed them.

    I bet there are all sorts of rodents and stuff in there that have already figured out the corollary

    thats a pretty good idea. Or better yet co-op speed limits.

    A display that shows how fast everyone else is going instead of some arbitrary sign. It is relatively well documented that more accidents happen where people are all driving different speeds than when all the people are speeding.

    Actually, Microsoft has historically treated programmers pretty well. The whole reason most of the software on the planet is for Windows is because of this.

    Anybody who says that raw c++ is easier than VB is on crack! Microsofts whole business model is based on making it easy for people to build software for the platform.

    I write business apps in Python (and VB) using COM and I have to say that it is actually pretty neat as long as your company is already willing to pay the MS Office tax.

    Hmm... do you really think that this will do anything to Echelon other than use more compute cycles? Do you really doubt that the operators of Echelon have enough compute cycles to crack SSL encrypted emails?

    ah the eternal debate...

    yeah, but if everyone was using them then it would raise the total computing power exponentially, hopefully making it too expensive to monitor everybody. Obviously, if the feds already have their eyes on you they can break you encryption like nothing.

    Californians will have the option of buying them out-of-state, but it's way too much of a hassle IMHO just to have a few glowing fish.

    I heard of this really cool thing called the internet. It's great, you can go to websites and order stuff, and they ship it right to your house!
