For the record, I do not approve of the RIAA's behavior in general.
That being said, it appears to me (per the footnote on the last page) that the RIAA was not maliciously contacting the employer, but rather using it as a last resort to serve legal papers, which is legal and a common practice for elusive defendants. They tried to serve the documents numerous times at the defendant's home, but he or someone he knows lied and pretended to be a deceased father or estranged brother to tell the people serving the papers that the defendant had moved. One sleazy move, in my opinion, does not merit another.
It does appear that they did serve the papers to the right person at the right employer with no malicious intent. It is critical that, in trying to persuade or as necessary force a change in the law, we do not demonize those who disagree with us; they have reasons of their own, and understanding them can only help us in our cause.
I applaud this guy's efforts, and his courage. He's broken a couple of high-profile propritary systems in a short period of time - wonder how long before he has more lawyers on him than dogs have hairs.
I think this is a great opportunity for the Open-Source Community to try to jump the gun on our proprietary counterparts. If we came up with a standard, got some big names to back it (as we do have several big names interested in us now), and copylefted or GNUd it, we could guarantee it stays open and standard. If we do it first or immeadietly after, it can make first revisions of 3D software as an alternative to the proprietary "standard"!
Darn it, my parent got modded negative, I'm seperated from my parent, and my negative one on BSD got posted at the same time as a dozen others... Karma Gods, please have mercy on me...
I'm sorry, you must mean 36 MB of pr0n you got off the internet and then claimed to be your date. Claiming they were dates plural really makes it apparent you are lying.
It's ENGLAND, man. First of all, they drive on the left, not on the right, as the idiot below me posted. Second of all, european cars have the driver side on the right side of the car. Oh wait, you're one of the slashdotters who just look at the pretty pictures and don't actually READ THE FRIGGIN ARTICLE!
There's a little clause on the Mandrake page that says something to the effect of, "These are the available servers, more may be overloaded right now, but available later."
What they are doing is checking the servers before they send users to them, to save our time. It seems that the mighty Mandrake servers were pre-emptively/.ed after their press announcement, but before it made it to these postings.
After all, what does it matter to you? Do you have a 64-bit processor right now? I thought not. So be patient, the nerds that beat you have really gained nothing.
Darn, this probably won't be seen by many, but here goes...
I myself use the aforementioned software. It is actually very effective, does not rely on the history, and even tracks Netscape and Mozilla and Opera seamlessly (believe me, I've tried to get around it). The only thing that it cannot effectively monitor is P2P sharing, and this even is identifiable by the long strings of IP addresses.
As to how addictive porn is: you will be astounded. Try going without it for, say, two weeks. Or how about this; track the time you waste on it. Or the money you spend. Or the SPAM that you subject yourself to. And what do you gain? A pleasent burning in your groin, and a rush of chemicals to your brain.
Compare this to any addictive drug. You can't quit it. It produces only a quick chemical response, nothing more. All because you don't have the guts to actually go after a girl. Get a life, and try building some healthy relationships instead of just concentrating on the body.
This accountability system has done wonders for me. Really, it deserves some looking into. Just remember it when you want to kick the habit...
Try Tiny Linux (http://tiny.seul.org/en/). It sounds like exactly what you need, and should support the basics such as abiword and a basic spreadsheet program.
I dunno, though, you may be donating a curse to some of these people...

The glass on the fluorescent bulbs is so you can see the light - granted, glass may be needed for reactivity issues, but it need not be exposed.
Then again, you would have people removing the protection to see the plasma - heck, I know I would...
Yeah, but editing those config files is a b*tch if you don't have XPCREATE.

doesn't disabling Install-On-Demand (in tools->Internet Options->Advanced) disable those nags?
wow, this is really, well, don't want this to turn into flamebait, so i'll leave the descriptor out...
Please tell me you are joking...

Try tiny linux (http://tiny.seul.org/en/). It should be able to run something like abiword, and some other basic free office tools.
