I am of the opinion that until I know everything I need to know the instant I need to know it then communication and information retrieval can improve. But as you say, you are happy with your rate of information absorption, so I guess ignorance is bliss. And oh, by the way, I am sorry that I didn't read all the other responses to your signature, I really should have known that many other people had found it just as dorky as I did and made fun of you for it. My mistake.
the problem with having everything separate is that relevant communications cannot get to you fast enough. you may forget to check your email, or your voicemail, or not log into aim. I think you don't want it because you haven't seen it work well, or to your benefit.
oh yeah, is the girl that would be upset with you your mom?
what about the 45 minutes it took me to get the darn password? even if it had come out ok with the time thing, i agree with the other guy, it was one hell of a frustrating experience
so your lesson is to...believe the opposite of what the white house tells us? Or to just not trust anything they say? Since you obviously have the facts correct because you are just that smart, please tell us how exactly you came to the conclusion that they do not have nukes. Because you can't see them? Because you can't see them and because you don't like dubya? Does it really make sense to just assume that they do not have nukes? I don't think so, and I am sure that even if there are people that "know" they don't have nukes, there are enough people that are unsure enough to tell them to shut the hell up because the consequences of assuming they have none are far worse than assuming they do. The fact is that they claim to have nukes. If there is a bomb thread in a building, you evacuate the building. It's that simple. It doesn't matter that 9999 times out of 10,000 the threat is false, you don't take the chance. And of course I understand that we can't take everyone seriously with this type of threat, but this is not just some high school bully. So before you condescend to people "beneath" you, and then make a lame apology (wow, trying to put yourself on the intellectual AND moral high ground in one response, how noble), please stick your foot in your mouth because that fungus on the end of your toes could probably construct more logical thoughts than you.

obviously they are trying to make money. one way they can do this is offering a product that people will like and therefore buy. this product is great because everyone gets what they want, except blockbuster, netflix, and ppv that is. people get the benefits of dvd without the full price of a dvd, the hassle of returning stuff to blockbuster, waiting days to get movies from netflix, or the crappy quality of ppv. sounds like a homerun to me. if they are priced too high then people won't buy them. you aren't paranoid, you are just stupid.
unfortunately it seems like they don't have much of a choice but to get "creative" with how they can bring in money (for printers anyways). They aren't going to make it selling printers for under $50, the market is just too competitive. There are plenty of other products that are engineered to last a certain amount of time, HP just chose a really stupid way of doing it. They could have instead used an ink that degrades rapidly past a certain point or something and that would have been more legit. On one hand I hate the fact that stuff like this goes on, but you have to understand that they have to make money somehow. Unless someone can figure out how open source hardware can make money...
there is already a very cheap solid state mpeg4 camcorder released by Panasonic a few months ago. Apparently it kind of sucks, but considering how cheap it is I think it's a great start.
I have seen it as cheap as $250.

holy jesus, i can't believe we forgot directv and dish and every cable system compatibility. it would kind of suck to have all that other stuff and not be able to get any shows
is a Tivo that can record to dvd, play ps2 and xbox and gamecube and windows and linux pc games, has access to kazaa and gnutella and every other p2p network, wifi, a pda/remote that can control it from anywhere in the world as well as instantly alert me to new shows that I might like, and a menu system that doesn't pause for 3-30 seconds everytime i issue a new command (damn you hughes). Did I mention it has to be HDTV and pal and ntsc and dolby digital and dts and divx and ogg vorbis compatible. And thx certified. And cool looking. And noiseless. And upgradable in case I forgot anything. Then if it could just watch all the tv and movies and play the games by itself I could just sleep all day and know that I wasn't missing anything.
I heard this info probably 4 or 5 years ago, my uncle knew several higher-ups at Dartmouth and they said they spent every penny that was donated and still if you walked like 20 feet you would change zones and be dropped instantly. I heard they didn't know what to do and they basically thought that every penny invested was completely wasted. Maybe they had another $20 million invested over the next 2 years and then got it right, but I don't consider that a great success. And of course it was treated as a success by Dartmouth, since the equipment and a lot of money was donated by cisco people, this was basically just a big showcase for their stuff so they could get publicity out of it. Did you think they were going to let people know that their equipment didn't work? use thy brain

Dartmouth tried to go wireless before the technology was ready and it turned out to be a disaster. The founder of Cisco donated a buttload of money to get them going (he went there i think) but when they set the whole thing up it just plain didn't work. I didn't hear much about it after that, but they were talking about scrapping the entire thing. I bet he is at it again. I have family that grew up there and know the town fairly well, I bet the townspeople will not pay $40/month for this.
and still Northpoint DSL went out of business and Covad is sucking wind hardcore. Doesn't seem like to me they are gouging prices...Smaller close-knit countries with uniform telecom systems have a much better chance of providing broadband to more people. In the US it's too spread out, the type of DSL and cable broadband systems vary from region to region. I have had 7 different locations dsl lines in the last 5 years and have required 6 different hardware devices because they were almost all unique systems. (even though 3 of them were verizon)

does he think that he won't be arrested for building a weapon like this?
oops, that was supposed to be "" (that will teach me to not preview)
you don't even need most of that, I tried it with a document that simply had "" (without the quotes of course) and that was enough to crash it for me
