"Surf to google. Seems easy enough, but of the family member I support 3 out of 5 would be stumped here."
How the heck do they use google now? I installed firefox on my mom's computer months ago and I think she still just types google.com into her address bar rather than use the search box. If they don't know how to get to google they'd be using MSN anyway since it's the default homepage of IE6 already. Whatever means they use to get to google now they'll keep using it.
Voice actors can make a lot of difference, not so much who they are but their ability. I haven't played the other Matrix game so I don't know if these people are any good, but if they are it will add quite a bit to the game.
Personally I'm interested in the game, but I figure I'll wait a few months for the bugs to get worked out and for the 17 million Neo clones to go away. Also since the Matrix was a movie rather than gaming phenomenon there's a good chance that they're hoping to attract a lot of non-gamers, so you might not exactly be the target.
I have The Sims 2 and I also have both Nero and Clone CD installed. I haven't had any problems. As far as I'm aware there's nothing special about my copies of those programs, I wonder what's different.
The Profile 4 isn't being made, that's because the Profile 5 series is around now. That would be a more useful comparison. That doesn't change your point (which I agree with) since the specs are nearly identical, just some info.
Raise your hand if you are. Anyone? Anyone? You, you're raising your hand, why? Oh, you couldn't hear. You're not surprised either.
Slightly more seriously, the whole purpose behind these campaigns is to scare people so why should they bother getting it right? That would require both effort and some comprehension of technology.
I'm surprised they didn't mention Fallout 2 considering what you could do in that game; get a job as a porn star (or a fluffer if you lacked the looks), use sex to solve quests and even get a girl pregnant.
"Starcraft is an odd game, it attempts to combine story, action and strategy. The problem is that it fails to be as good at any of them as things devoted to a single element.
Story
You can do far better in a book or a movie since telling a story is the entire point of those.
Strategy
Many turn based games provide far deeper strategy and will provide you the time to truly plan your actions. The best strategy is of course running a large real life nation, so if you want strategy I suggest you start running for president.
Action
The pace of the action can't begin to compare to the likes of Quake 3 or Half Life. The requirement that you have to build your units and the whole strategy elements to the game really slow the action down."
As cloudless said, it's the integration of elements that makes RPGs fun. To claim that the games are no good because you can do better elsewhere in a single part of them shows a total lack of understanding.
I worked in the Network Control Center of a military base and when it came to user requests all we did was shuffle some paper. The USAF has a giant list of all authorized software; you want that you just ask us for permission and go mess with it yourself we didn't do much application support. But say you wanted to set up a system at the golf course to allow people to check availability and reserve a Tee time from off base? (Actual issue that had to be dealt with) First you contact your system administrator, he'll write up your request and e-mail it to us. We'll tell you no since that's unsecured as all hell. Then you'll complain to your squadron commander who will complain to ours and we'll have to do it. Then we have to get permission from a private firm in Hawaii who will tell us no because it's unsecure as hell. Several months of playing middleman later the private contractors will say ok and then we'll figure out how. Well now it's time for our firewall expert to write up all the changes that would have to be made to move the golf course computer outside the firewall and we'd look into setting up a second dedicated circuit so that the golf course can have both inside and outside access without touching. Then our firewall guy will walk the contractors through the process since they don't actually know the system yet. Then our firewall guy will put them on hold and swear a blue streak into his desk in an effort to prevent the lieutenant down the hall from hearing him. After that's done, we find out that a lot of the copper went bad and there are no wires for the golf course to have a second line from us out there. Then the golf course gets DSL from AT&T and doesn't need to use the military network anymore. Request complete, time: 4 months.
Not sure if that answered anything, but that whole fiasco had really ticked me off.
Had mozilla crash twice on me surfing over there, ten times tonight, something is definitely wrong with my system. I wonder if Norton AV would pick up the Smith virus...
I can see your point. When record stores forced me to buy all those overpriced CDs I felt truly robbed. Oh wait, I wasn't forced to buy anything. I thought they were overpriced so I didn't buy them. Capitalism my friend, if people will pay it, that's what they'll sell it for. They make it, you buy it or you don't. It's called economics, not stealing.
You're right about that, "Police think that there were a whole lot of 1s and 0s" just doesn't grab headlines. But even if the numbers are total BS (and I expect they are) there is the underlying understandable concern that music swapping eats into sales. I purchased 80+ CDs before Napster, 3 since and I'd be curious if other people have done the same. If you've got to complain to the judge that people are costing you money you might as well go in with the highest number you can get away with.
That being said I also think that the fact that the price of CDs and quality of the music would have me paying $10 per song I want is a factor.
And the way you propose to help speed the fall is by being rude to the cashier? Boardrooms everywhere quake.
That makes it sound like they were doing something wrong. Who cares what case it was in if the hardware was the real deal?

When M$ sit on top of the world by themselves, they really don't give 2 shits about quality or you as a customer.
You mean just like every other company in existance?
Ding dong Morpheus is dead...
nah, doesn't really flow right.
I wouldn't really call that "backwards compatible", more like "not backwards compatible".
I'd assumed that since White Wolf was publishing it it was using their system. But I checked into it and you are quite correct. Damnit.
That should read "paved in 10-sided dice and character sheets" since I believe that's what the Everquest pen and paper games uses.
Go Red Dwarf quote! I love that show (and use that line myself).
From the article: "Article score: 65% - whiney"
If I'd looked ahead I could have skipped it instead of wishing I had 3 minutes back.

Now we just need a way to stop the judges from doing something stupid in gymnastics and we'll be set.

Great. No idea what happened to the formatting. I Might as well hold up a flashing sign that says "Hi, I'm a n00b"

RvB is one of the few times I've had a legitimate used for a P2P app. All the episodes are out there.

Don't worry. I've got the real person, but I'd never heard of him so in the spirit of the quote...
Too much information about other countries! My american brain can't take it!
