Matrix Online Voice Talent Locked In
Gamespot has a piece discussing the signing of the original Matrix cast members for voice roles in the MMOG. Actors returning to their trilogy roles include Lawrence Fishburne, Monica Bellucci, Mary Alice, Lambert Wilson, Harold Perrineau Jr., Harry Lennix, Nona Gaye, Collin Chou, and Tanveer Atwal.
Where'd Keanu Reeves? I don't remember him doing any voice acting in any matrix franchises, which is interesting. Perhaps the level of tolerance required for him to be taken seriously is too high when his voice is transferred to a video game.
Oh well. Hopefully TMO will still be 'most excellent' without him.
What, no "I know kung-fu" audio macros being played repeatedly by characters called "T3H 0|\|3"?
What game? In order to play the game, you must remember, there is no game.
Hrrm... I usually just sign my name.
They should get a jar-jar-binks character. It would be tons of fun to pump a machine gun full of bullets into that chump.
A Multiplayer Strategy Game for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux
I am (or at least recently was) a Matrix freak. I think Matrix 1 is the coolest movie ever made, and I even liked 2 and 3.
I am also a MMORPG addict... having paid for many combined years of a few MMORPGs.
But, I have absolutely zero interest in this game. And, if I'm not the absolute prime target demographic for this game, I have no idea who is. And, it really makes me worry for this game's future--as I have no intention of ever playing it. I plan to be fully addicted to WoW by the time this comes out.
Anyone holding their breath for this game? And, do voice actors make a damn difference?

Ok so let me get this straight, your going to make "The Matrix" into a video game that takes place after the truce, after Neo's "death" and the defeat of agent Smith. So what exactly are you battling? Defective accounting programs? Rebellious AIs that don't want to ally with the humans? Michevious programming mistakes that cause the Matrix to blue screen?
Hmmm...
Boring?
Yeah that sounds about right...

You know, I can't think of any other character someone would want to play besides Neo. I mean, really: how about security guard who gets shot to pieces number 23? Or Tryke: Dozer and Tank's dwarf amputee cousin? I'd love to be Agent Smith, but I don't think killing that drippy little wanna-be messiah would be too satisfying after the first two or three thousand times.

I really wanna see how well Laurence Fishburn can do as The Oracle.
What character did he play? I don't remember seeing or hearing him anywhere.
If you don't know who Lennix is, go to a movie store and rent the coolest adaptation ever of Shakespeare's bloodiest play ever.

that is the correct reason
there's no Neo (atleast for now) in TMO
The Matrix 2 & 3 sucked so badly, who is excited about this game?
Now a MMORPG based on Gigli... that would rock.

It's quite possible this will make you feel like a complete idiot... but if you just click on the guys name in the IMDB link you so handilly provided, it will reveal to you his past credits. Including his role in the Matrix as... *drumroll*... Commander Lock. ;)
Sorry to be the one to point that out. The irony IS kind of amusing though. Well, at least I thought it was funny
D'oh!
I must have read right past his name about twenty times. You're right, it does make me feel like a complete idiot. :-) Also I don't know how my comment got posted twice... clearly a bad browsing day for me.

I would be cool if game moderators showed up as agents. I still remember those guards appearing out of nowhere in UO when it first came out, and most of the time it was a special moderator of some sort (you could tell by the armor). But there isn't too many agents, and I think it would be a nice experience if you knew every agent had a human player behind them that you had to be careful of. I would be interested in this game purely because it is not fantasy nor SWG. When is Shadowrun MMORPG coming out anyway?
She has a voice? I remember her from the movies, but I didn't hear a thing she said.

The Matrix Online will be free and supported by in-game ads? My friend told me this and at the time I thought it was very clever and progressive, but the more I think of it, the more I remember how tightly controlled advertising tie-ins for the other movies were, and how there were no in-movie ads that I noticed. So I'm guessing it's not true and my friend just switched to a new type of crack that day.
