Their pop-up/under ads are exactly why I have never been to their web site nor will ever use it. Even their TV commercials were annoying. I guess this latest "policy" sounds like business as usual.
I have had DSL for 3.5 years. I'm still at 1 meg down 128k up, and I really have never felt like I was too slow. I can't really bitch or expect our Coop to spend the money to change their equipment though. The town is only 1500 people, so I am fortunate to have broadband anyway.
Come up with a new thing to wardrive for. Use a short range antenna to look for outgoing GPS datastreams. Instead of Geocaching, play hunt the transmitting GPS.
Also, I would guess because of the ruling,Police would have no problem with a FOIA request for any GPS data they have aquired. Or with someone following them around and reporting their data real time.. etc etc etc.
Back when my dad used to fly for Sheaffer Pen back in the '60s, he had the windshield of the Beech Queen Air break out due to static electricity in a storm. He was able land without further incident.
So yes, they would most likely get by unless debris hit and injured the pilot.
Tech Source is the company that supplies cards for our Solaris workstations. The driver quality is pretty decent, but we are only doing 2d. I would guess that they are fully capable of doing a good 3d card though. My only qustion would be price, as I think we paid $300 for our last Tech Source card, and it was a 64meg card.
By contrast, Java (the only real code Firefox can excute) is much more paranoid than IE - that is, I've seen it throw security exceptions. You'd have to not only find a way to get root privs, but get past Java as well.
November 23, 2004 (1:39 PM EST) Java Bug Makes IE, Firefox Vulnerable
By TechWeb News
A flaw in Sun's Java Virtual Machine can open up the two most popular browsers, Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox, to attack, security researchers said Tuesday.
I payed $10 to play Tribes: Vengeance at the local lan gaming center. I did that as a try before you buy, even though I was in the beta for Tribes: Vengeance before release. After playing it for 4 hours there I decided it wasn't better enough over Tribes 1 and 2 to be worth purchase.
Obviously not an option for everyone, but it is something I do if I have a doubt about a game.
What's the joke? It runs fine on my son's K7S5A 1.0 Mobo, 512mb pc3200 with a radeon 9700 pro. And it ran ok, but slow when he had 512 pc133 sdram and a 8500le before he upgraded.
There were 2 buttons, a green on saying search, and right next to it is a blue one saying near me. I tried enableing cookies and editing the settings page to the city nearest me, but it keeps changing back to denver. I guess it's a default for a feature that is not fully implemented yet.

I aprecciate the heads up. I did various searches with other engines and they showed the information without fault. I used to be a die hard altavista user until google came along.
Google is no longer my default search engine, and with GW having 4 more years, I am sure glad I don't use G-Mail.
I guess that's why it looks so unappealing to me. My first thought was that it looked poorly rendered and generaly dorky. Every time I see a commercial it re-enforces that fact.
True.. sort of.. I only rent a couple of DVD's a month and only on Wednesdays when they are.99. Even with that limited amount, 99 percent of the movies are crap, or I already saw them in the theater.
Maybe the drive wheel that was stuck freed up and and lowered the load. Or, more likely, a lucky gusty of wind cleaned some of the dust off the solar cells.

You obviously have never tried to configure a radeon 8500. It works fine in 2d, but is pretty near impossible to get working under opengl.
I'm sure they work great "IF" you can get hardware accelerated open GL support to work properly.

Agreed on the computer side. I have a 21" Compaq V1000 CRT. Blows anything in the LCD world away, and you can pick one up on the used market for $100.
Also, I use an old Commodore Color monitor for a TV using an old VCR as a tuner. Outstanding quality picture!

I figured they would look at your IP address, check the dns for location and then use that to find near me..

Excellent analogy! They are creepy looking, especially the Tom Hanks character, but I just couldn't put my finger on it.

Or you can do what I do, buy used CD's and movies. MPAA and RIAA arent getting any money from me, and I get legal, cheap media.

Exactly! Remove the GF4MX cards from the mix and you have what most real gamers are running.
Our LAN gaming group is about ATI 3 to 1 over NVIDIA. It used to be NVIDIA 4 to 1 over anything else, and prior to that was mostly Voodoo.
With the things that x.org and friends are doing, is there some technical hurdle that opengl et al cannot compete on?
ATI Radeon cards are the most popular with gamers. ATI support in linux sucks. Without good driver support, gaming in linux is dead.
