In the summer in seattle it's as dry as anywhere I've ever lived (dallas, oklahoma, iowa) There's very little humidity and it just doesn't rain. Plus it doesn't really get hot. They'll be a handful of days in the mid 80's, one or two days in the 90's, and about 100+ days of 75 and sunny.
This means that you can have no snow at your house and still be skiing on over 100 inches in less than 20 minutes. It is also nice in the summer since it is cooler in the mountains, sort of like a really long spring.
That's exactly how it is here. The closest ski area is 20 miles from here. They get 400+ in of snow, I get probably an average of 1 or 2.
Finally in Utah there is this odd thing that happens summer, spring, winter and fall: Sunshine. Try saying THAT about Seattle.:)
It's very sunny here in the summer and fall (at least till november. The winters can be a little dull, but rain in the city means snow in the mountains. And the summer weather more than makes up for it.
well it's hotter in utah in the summer... and it's colder in the winter... and they get lots more snow. Sure it is a little rainy here from november to may, but it's not as bad as people seem to think.
I prefer seattle. We've got all the outdoor activities; easy access to 3 great cities (portland, seattle, vancouver); we're closer to the ocean; and our weather is better.
You're thinking about this in the wrong way. When they say 3d accelerated they don't necessairly mean that the desktop is in 3d. What they mean is they are going to use features of the video card to make things render faster. For example if one window hides another the video card will know from it's z-buffer that it doesn't need to render the window on bottom.
Well the idea of the 3d accelerated desktop is that your video card will be able to do all the work. Considering how simple the graphics are on a 2d desktop (versus something like doom 3) i imagine almost any mediocre graphics card will speed things up immensly.
I'll give you the shoveling snow, excercising, etc. Of course that's whay my nomad II is for. But as to controlling the thing in your backpack, that's why you get a wired remote. Did the nomad jukebox not have one? That's something that's really impressed me about my iRiver player. It's got a great remote so that I can keep the thing in my backpack.
you're a college student and you're worried about the bulk of your nomad? When I was in college I carried my backpack everywhere I went. Size would have been a non-issue. Even now that's mainly the case, I carry a man bag everywhere i go.
The quality of the beer has nothing to do with it's alchohol content. Most stouts and porters have contents in the 4.5-5.5% range, and are pretty good.
because it held up to shipping long distances. at the turn of the century getting beer from point a to point b wasn't easy and it often went bad. The beers were formulated to last longer. The same can be said of IPAs. They were designed to travel from england to india. Some like bud, some like IPA's. Taste is subjective.
I just posted about this higher up. It's now available in full force in seattle. If they're pushing here in a big way, I imagine it's everywhere. The beer market here is tough with all the local breweries and if they think they can move in here, I'm confident they'll be in all major markets soon.
On a completly unrelated side note... here in seattle I have just noticed large shiner bock displays in all the local grocery stores. Being from texas, I noticed right away. I don't believe shiner was even available here until recently. It seems that they are starting to branch out. It reminds me of when they started brewing an oklahoma version of their beer so that it could be sold at grocery stores and not just liquor stores.
I have to agree with this. I rarely drink new castle (even though I love it) or pilsner urquell (my favorite of the lagers) unless I'm in a bar that has them on tap. The pilsner urquell in the bottle is skunky 9 times out of 10 and the newcastle is skunky 3 or 4 times. I guess some people like the skunky taste.
Some people actually like the taste of that style of beer. I believe Sapporo also uses rice, and they are able to charge a premium. It takes all kinds I guess. I much prefer ales to lagers myself. But I know many people who love lagers and pilsners.
try offering to pay cash instead of using a card next time you have a large purchase somewhere. Chances are you can get them to knock a few % of the cost. If you know what the processing fees are, you can really use this to your advantage.
exactly how do you design an OS to stop users from clicking on an executable file that runs malicious code? 90% of the viruses I see are installed that way. Microsoft can't just make all their users stop being dumb.
This kind of use of a song is most likely covered by one of the many compulsory licenses. Music is used all the time in adds on TV, Radio and so on... it woudl be silly if you had to get permission every time.
I guess the world is silly then because you do.
You don't need permission to record a cover version of a song you just have to pay the appropriate licensing fee.
This is true, but to use that cover version in an advertisement you do need permission of the publisher of said song.
You can't selectively say this artist deserves protection and this one doesn't. If this had been (insert indie rock band here), I imagine they'd be pissed. The difference is that eminem actually has the finacial ability to fight back.
Apple hasn't made the smartest decisions when it comes to using music in commercials. Remember the VW/iPod commercial? It featured the polyphonic spree, right after the iTMS music store came out. The commercial even told you what the song was. I wonder how many people went directly to the music store only to find out that it wasn't there.
this has happened to me twice. Both times I filed a claim with my insurance company and they re-imbursed me $15/disc. I doubt they'd be so kind with files on my computer.
It looks more like the san fransisco giants font. Which just leads me to believe it would be in san fransisco.
Gran Turismo. And it would be worth it to buy a PS2 simply for this series.

they catch people doing things like putting down chantrel mushrooms, but putting in the code for iceberg lettuce.

It would have been propert to say Budwiser is to pilsners as Guiness is to stouts.

Close but no cigar. That refers to performing a cover or recording a cover. This case is different because they used a cover to sell something.

I would wager that some advisor of his told him to go by eminem instead of M&M at some point. Does anyone remeber green jello?
I pretty much slept through thermodynamics, but I can't imagine that all that extra heat being transfered to the atmospehere is a good thing.
