    I've always been able to play all of my games even when the steam connection is down. Regardless of that, I think we passed the point of being dependent on an internet connection a long time ago.

    Fast hashing has its uses as well. Such as verifying data transmissions. Passwords aren't the only things that we hash.

    Sensationalism indeed. Small 10-30 minute Steam downtimes have happened before. Really not a big deal. Steam consistently has such absurdly good prices and (imo) a great service, that I reall don't mind if there are a few hiccups.

    The Mayans did not predict a doomsday. This is simply the reset of their calendar. Of course: intelligence is relative. I'm not really sure what the point of asserting that an ancient civilization knew less then a modern one would be.

    From what I remember, I compiled the engine and then tried to tinker with it. I wanted to try to do things, like add a weapon bar or ammo counter, so I would search the forums and community resources http://www.garagegames.com/community/resources to find tutorials about how to modify the code. Most people on the forums were happy to chat about adding features and many of the resource tutorial developers would provide help with the code they provided.

    I learned a lot tinkering with one of the older Torque engines when I was young. The community was very helpful and accepting of those with little to no programming experience. This should be a great addition to open resources.

    I never said it was a good definition. I only meant to explain that it is defined in a way where you are clearly in operation of the vehicle when pulled over. I completely agree this definition has many downfalls, like the one you suggest.

    Except it's not ambiguous. Most definitions of operating a motor vehicle include doing anything that is any part of a sequence of using the motive power of the vehicle, or being in a position to operate the controls. Simply sitting behind the wheel, even with the engine off, usually qualifies for operating a motor vehicle.

    That problem isn't really an issue with the manual window management concept, but more the fact that Unity is terrible.

    Have you used Windows 8 metro? I think you'll find that this does not solve the window management problem at all. It leaves me wondering half the time how I am going to get back to a window I just had open a moment ago. At least manual window management, as you call it, I always had the confidence that I wasn't going to lose windows want. Certainly, things could be much better, but this is a step backwards.

    Like I said, I have a hard time believing it was the freezer that did it, mostly because I don't know what mechanism would be fixed by being chilled for a while. Point is, I got 10 minutes of read time after putting it in a freezer for an hour in a ziplock bag, instead of the 30 seconds I was getting letting it rest at room temperature. Call my real-life experience a fairy tale if you like. If I had a failed drive and needed to copy data, I'd do it again it as a last shot.
