Yeah, but if the BBC was distributing this file would as many people have downloaded it? I downloaded because it was "leaked" and I am sure many others are in the same boat as me.

I was thinking the same thing. We have a system at work that has a X800 installed in it, we got it 6 months ago. Also we just got three X800 XTs in the middle of december. I don't see how these cards can be considered vapourware.

Also, we didn't jump through any special hops to get these cards, we just placed an order with a local computer store, like any Joe Blow is able to do.

The ironic thing about the article is it recommends DC field a basketball team.

  6. How to Check on Phish Scams Fooling 28% of Users · · Score: 1

Some of the emails were obvious scams, but some weren't. Also, as has been mentioned before, you can't see the links with Firefox and since I didn't want to open up IE I did the test without being able to see the links. I still got 10/10.

What I did for some of the not so obvious emails was do a search on google for the scam. Most of the emails were legitmate scams (oxymoron?) that were well documented by the internet community. At first I wasn't going to use google becuase I figured it was cheating but that is exactly how I would approach an email that I receive that I don't think is a scam but want to make sure. It is always better to be safe then sorry and with the internet being a great resource for finding out about scams, why not use it?

My brother works at a call centre and they are always being lectured on how they have to pay attention and stay focused on the customer.

I can see it now, every call centre gets rid of the cubicles and installs giant swimming pools, people leaving work looking like giant raisins. They wouldn't even have to leave their phone to take a pee, as long as the water doesn't contain the stuff that turns purple if someone pees.

  9. Re:And about loading times on Game Pacing Pitfalls Discussed · · Score: 2, Insightful

The N64 was the first thing I thought about when I read the load time complaint. I loved and still love my N64, I remember either going to a friends house to play some new PS or PS2 game or borrowing their systems for the weekend. The thing that always annoyed me the most was the load times, I think that was the best feature of my N64. I could pop in a cartridge and play the game without watching the stupid loading screen.

I expect when I play games on a gaming console to not have to wait, it is a dedicated gaming system. The hardware and software should be designed so they work together in a way that load times cannot be noticed by the user. When playing PC games I can understand and forgive load times since my PC is not primarily designed or used for gaming (although I know people who think that is what PCs are for). What is the point of better graphics if it means I have to spend time looking at a load screen everytime I start a level, or enter into a different part of the game.

I think this article helps to show that some game developers focus too much on things like graphics and not enough on gameplay. I love great graphics as much as the next person but if I had to choose between a game that looked good to a game that was fun to play, I would obviously choose the game that was fun to play. For example, I still own my old NES and I often find myself playing Punchout, Excitebike or one of the SMB series. I know that some of the reason for this is nostalgia but those games are still a lot of fun to play, even after I have finished some of them several times.

Don't think I am making a blanket statement that games these days are all show with no substance, there are those games that have both killer graphics with excellent gameplay. I am always glad to see those games come out on market.

I know this is just a rant and contains no real substance but I felt like ranting, so I did.

Just kidding, I would say that these would obviously share a lot of similar technology. It would be stupid of Sony to throw out the technology from the TiVo. Just like a lot of things, this is an improvement on things learned from past products.

What about when sporting events are on like the Olympics, world cup or (insert sporting event that spans multiple days)? With work and school I can't be expected to just stay up 24/7 and watch, but I think it would be a really cool feature to be able to record all the televised events so you can have the opportunity to watch them later.

It is all well and good to let users download the songs, but I am not going to be willing to pay to download something that sounds like crap.

One of the reasons I don't download from Kazaa is because the quality is poor. (I also think it is stealing)

How much time and effort is EMI going to put into putting the songs into a format that is actual CD quality and not the fake "CD Quality" that WM9 claims to have.

Take Note: This site is teaching kids Judeo-Christian Values. From the site:

"We knew we wanted to build a kids' site that parents can trust, where they know that their kids are getting positive messages and Judeo-Christian values along with their action games, brain-bending puzzlers and interactive stories."

So if you feel that you don't want your cousins being exposed to this then don't point them in this direction.
