Exactly. Better yet, Palm got their start developing software for Newton. While we're at it, wasn't Office first developed on the Mac because Windows was crap or non-existent at the time? Screw it, can't we just get along and enjoy all this great technology rather than have a pissing contest about who-did-what-first?

  3. I read that as stating that QC4 is a proper superset of USB-PD, and the chargers and devices would work w/ normal USB-PD chargers and devices, while adding some other silly features on when a QC4 charger and device are used together. But you're right that the wording is vague. If I'm mistaken then I take back my kudos.

    USB-PD compatability? Nope? Nevermind, then.

I came hear to bash Qualcomm too, but amazingly enough they seem to have done something right for once according to TFA:

USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery (USB PD) compliant. By incorporating these technologies, Qualcomm Technologies standardizes the capabilities of Quick Charge 4 adapters, to help ensure that a single accessory supports multiple charging implementations and mobile devices, and that there is consistent performance when faced with the myriad of available charging solutions.

Came here to say what the parent said better than I could. Forcing manufacturers to sell replacement parts is a great idea, but don't let this idealistic crusade take down features of the product as collateral damage. Biometrics are for from perfect and if they are an unacceptable risk in your threat model then by all means don't use them, but shitting on the whole idea isn't constructive. I'm glad that using TouchID makes it practical for me to use much longer and more secure passwords and still have a useable phone.

No, the first number is the rating for solid intrusion and the second is for liquid intrusion. Notably, the two numbers are on totally different scales with 6 being the max for the first number but not the second. Both IP67 and IP68 are equally "dust proof", but the IP67 is a relatively poor water resistance rating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

  8. As I deal with the constant issues with Android (late/missing OS updates, poor software availability, inconsistent mess of an interface) I keep trying to remember why I ever dumped iOS. Then Apple pulls shit like refusing to ship a codec that every other browser supports. I don't care at all about 4K, but it's nice to be able to view WebM videos embedded in Wikpedia pages.

  9. Come on, I didn't say I'd pay for this service everyday; more like the roughly annually I already waste money on going to the movies. As for Florida, that's going a little far. I'd much rather deal with the crowds and sticky floors of my local cinema that ever visit that shithole again.

  10. I go to the move theater maybe once per year. For what it costs once I buy two tickets and some concessions, not to mention the time wasted getting there, I wouldn't mind paying the price of 2-3 tickets to stay at home and watch.

I stumbled on my original first gen iPhone last week. It's so nice and small. Fits in my hand great. Disappears in my pocket. Almost makes me wish I could get a flagship smartphone with a screen that small (surely I would feel differently if I actually powered it on).
