ok, it is wonderful to have this important piece of history back where it belongs, and the theif caught, but was it really necessary to go through such lengths?
the way that the artcile was written on/. made it seem like it was REALLY interesting. I read the article (and even though I am a bit hungover still) it really wasn't that great and I was rather annoyed w/it. There were very few exciting details and in fact it really didn't say much other than it was recovered...
well, honestly, if they were really expecting a large problem w/it (and it wasn't their master plan;) then there would have been some sort of dismantling or destruction in space...
But then again, I really know nothing about this sort of thing, hell, NASA wouldn't hire me as a coffee maker;)
at first I picked custom install (I don't need Instant Messenger, Gaim works fine for me, I don't want Mail and News, maybe it will keep the god damn ~/Mail folder out of my ~/). So it downloads it all and installs it./usr/local/netscape/netscape and I get some strange errors (in fact I am lacking some./Cool library directory). Ok fine, install the whole damn thing, I have bandwith to waste...
Installs it, got the./Cool directory (what a name really!)
Here are the errors...

gotta love that. I would have prefered the damn tar.gz file.
my folding table w/$5 generic keyboard with a $15 folding chair w/a PADDED seat... This is an upgrade from the $5 folding chair that I had when I last posted about something like this that had only some sort of hard webbing as support... It broke for some reason...
I wonder why I don't suffer from too much pain? Hmm.
umm, most of the time they don't have a reply address, if it does, it doesn't exist or it is coming from teeniesex@beautiful.little.girls.com or something.
most of the porn spam i get is either links or ICQ spam (I stopped using ICQ for this reason).
even though this technology is interesting, good old investigation will work better;)
I have broken an old (almost) 10 lb. Northgate Keyboard over games of Quake before. I can't imagine banging my head against the wall as hard as I can;) It may actually save me money in the long run;)
I guess I really just don't care all that much about it. It doesn't fucking bother me enough to get all pissed off about it. If I see a story I already read before, I ignore it. I don't get all pissy like you guys. I am just easy going on that sorta thing I guess.
I don't think that it is unreasonable either, I just don't think that it is their duty to do so. It seemed like the poster was pissed off b/c they posted this before. Like get over it, it is not a big deal. Hell, CNN runs the same fucking story for weeks/months at a time (ala Elian). Get over it.
are you fucking serious? get a life man. this is a website for geeks. they started this as a free service to the public. it is still a free service to the public. we have to put up w/a couple of ads sure, but it doesn't mean that they have the time/desire to make us happy. *WE* don't pay them.
Until you start donating money/hardware/coding time to THEM, they have no reason to do what you think is right.
Give the god damn guys a break.
OMFG, imagine. Seeing the same thing twice! OH NO. I mean it might ruin your life that your excitement over a new article is dashed because you have already seen it last month!
sorry, wrong. Just b/c AT&T owns the lines does NOT mean that someone shouldn't be allowed to use a different ISP. Just b/c such and such owns my telephone lines means I can't use an ISP not affiliated w/those lines? Get real.
I am a college student that looks at porn, so I am not biased towards what I am about to say..
If you are in a school setting, using school computers, under no circumstances should you have any privacy. You are in school to get an education not to stare at porn. Yes, all kids in schools are curious, wonderful, do it at home. Porn has no place in schools especially when you should be doing something constructive.
As far as watching what someone is doing while they are on the Internet (snooping telnet sessions, etc) I used SSH, so it didn't much bother me but I feel that if you want to protect your privacy do it at home. School is for learning, not for porn.
I sometimes wonder if you people read the articles these posts are attached to. Yes, this was on topic. They said that it was impossible for Linus to push back the birth of his daughter, I pointed to a historical reference of when it wasn't. Man. Get a life.
the guy was making a document available to people who like to tinker around w/stuff like that. If you aren't into it, fine, don't bash it. Move your trolling elsewhere.
I think that RC5 is a good way to determine how fast the damn processor is...

;-) I could care less about Quake3 benchmarks.. Quake3 sucks anyway :)

it is a piece of history. if it weren't for the silent capture of the enigma it may have been a much longer road to the defeat of the Germans...
just b/c it is has moetary value at auction does NOT mean it isn't greatly valueable...
honestly, is it really ncessary to point this crap out every single time there is an article on the Enigma? Are you karma whoring again? :)

I prefer option 4.. Sell it on Ebay, let them know it is dying/dead, and they will still buy it from you and PAY for shipping..

on a somewhat related note..
I was thinking about getting an iPAQ w/in the next few months (holidays), and was wondering whether or not it was really viable to run Linux on it.
Anyone using Linux only on their iPAQ to do what it was originally intended to?
oh shit, is this going to go the way of the clusters, can linux run on that thing, etc? Please don't overkill it for weeks to come...

doesn't seem very important to me, but what do I know?
I am very impressed w/this guy's patience, time, and artistic skill. Time to move on to more exciting and important things in life.

some greek myth says that he kept shoving the kids back into the womb. it took the mother giving a child in there a sickle to cut off his dick... ;)
representational voting didn't work in Germany, in fact it eventually led to worldwide problems that are still fresh in our minds today.
Just a thought.
