If you wish to believe that, you may do so at your own peril.
I'm a coder, and I can personally tell you that I have recommended against or actively sought the dismissal of people such as testers that had terrible written communication skills. It's hard enough to fix a bug without needing the freaking Rosetta stone to decipher the Mantis entry. Heck, every job in the world these days uses email. If every email you send makes you look like you never finished 6th grade, I don't want you representing my company, let alone attempting to communicate precise and subtle details to the technical staff.
Bad writing skills is, IMO, equivalent to showing up to a business meeting without pants. I won't take you seriously. It says in s strong, clear voice that "I don't sweat the details".
I'm sorry Mr. Dragon, the numerous grammatical and spelling errors in your previous post have dissuaded us from extending an offer of employment at this time. We felt there was no need to look into your social networking persona after reading that.
"Trespassing laws naturally apply. If a property owner demands you leave, you must. But if a place is open to the public -- a mall, office-building lobby, etc. -- permission to enter is assumed (although it can be revoked)."
A mall can kick you out and trespass you if they don't like your haircut. I used to work at one, they had signs up basically stating "if you're not shopping, GTFO".
I agree that it needs some work. I tried it this morning, and it failed on my first search. I typed "hosts file" and it came up with NO results, not even the wiki entry! Later, I ended up just trying "hosts", and it brought up results, including a set of tabs with more specific subjects which included... wait for it... hosts file.
This reminds me of that FF link-prefetch feature that, IIRC, got removed (or did I just disable it so long ago...) because it was such a pig.
Why not just have AVG pre-scan links you actually *click* on rather than scan the entire page of search results, most of which you'll never look at beyond the summary? Is there a technical reason it can't do that?
If your server is hit by a DDoS, the pipe is full of malicious traffic, leaving no room for the good traffic. If this is the case, how are you supposed to communicate with your "good botnet"? Is there a step I'm missing in all this? Do protected servers require a second "secret" connection to the Internet, using a completely separate provider?
OK, that pretty much makes sense. It just doesn't seem so "secret" now that there are those online MD5 databases. How many characters do those go up to now?
Umm... since hashes are one-way, how is the recipient of the whois request to know which domain to look up for you? Brute force? Nice try, but back to the drawing board.
Except for the fact that it used to be a $200 laptop with free upgrades and more free applications you can shake a stick at. Now it's a $200 Windows computer. The version currently installed may be free, but the next one won't be. Nor are a majority of the applications it has available. In my eyes, the cost of that machine over its lifetime just went WAY up.
I used to use a Trackman Marble and loved it. But since I can switch between mouse & trackball w/o even thinking, I have since switched to optical mice because they require no cleaning. I'd have to pop the ball out of my Trackman every once in a while & clean the skudge off the points that the ball rested on. I had one that actually didn't sit just right *until* it got a little dirty. Until then, it rubbed on one side of the retaining ring (I eventually used an emory to sand it down).
It's not about formalities, it's about *precision*. You need not worry about ever ending up on my team.

You're right. It IS pedantic.
If a mall started kicking people out for racial & disability reasons, it would be a PR nightmare. I'm sorry, your strawman is on fire.
Trespassing a few skateboarders, malcontents & photographers wouldn't raise an eyebrow.
Your own document contradicts you:
"Trespassing laws naturally apply. If a property owner demands you leave, you must. But if a place is open to the

Burning hydrocarbons?! Sounds like a good place to put a combo drill/refinery/gas station!
Actually, I recently read somewhere that he has never accepted his $200K-ish salary. Here's the first link I Googled: http://www.stateline.org/live/details/story?contentId=207914

Duh.
Buses are huge, rarely filled to capacity, travel a fixed route, and require a driver.
You forgot "numchucks", the only appropriate answer to such a subpoena.

I thought the codename for that release was "patchouli".

They should just erase them & air drop them over Cuba!
Hosts files don't work on IP addresses, only hostnames, and they don't accept wildcards. The drawing board patiently awaits your return. ;)
I said n/t!
Exactly. I was thinking that a single ellipsis could have completely altered the tone of the message (for the better):
"if "business as usual" means trying to foist a rushed, technically inferior and product-specific piece of... work like OOXML on the IT industry"

True, but wouldn't that be like starting from square one again? In that case, the cost is your time spent learning how to be productive again.

...and Sharky's Machine. :-D
