I've build a box just for that requirement a few months ago using a 3ware IDE controller, 4x100gb drives in raid 5 mode and linux:) gives a nice 300 gb of space.
I think the overall costs were around 2000 Euro..
(controller, drive bays, BIG case, etc..)
Normally if u reach a big number of users (100 is not that big;) u want to think about different password backends, as plain text does not scale very well:)
I would recommend looking into LDAP and various PAM modules..
(there even exist some MySQL modules for authentication)
thats not that big problem, I did build my desk with 4 adjustable legs, works very well. The leges were are around 50 Euro, and you have about 10 cm range for adjustment.
Please someone enlighten me on vi.. for me its the most disturbing edtior i ever meet.. for example the 2 edit modes.. way too confusing. why can't i move curser around ? why del key is not working, etc ?
I'm not flaming.. i want a honest answer. I did grew up with wordstar compatible editors (TurboPascal 3 on CP/M.. call me oldtimer;),
so my favorite editor is joe now...
I can only second this. We were also looking for some good php/sql coders, but its incredible hard to find !
I got also numerous offers from folks that did know how to write "select * from foobar" and think they are sql experts.. (the funny thing is that those ppl did demand the highest salarys;)
But in the end.. it comes to check the folks with the highest potential, and train them. When you see the quality of the so called "business schools" where they teach programming here, you would fall from your chair..:)
Most of those business schools teach about 1 topic per week here, thats 1 week db admin, 1 week java, 1 week php, and so on. total bullshit.

you should download the latest win2k drivers;)
g400 dual head working as 2 cards flawless here under 2k.. it took some time, but its worth !:)
there are plenty of phones with ethernet jacks, we are using some siemens ones in our company, they are standard h323 phones, with DHCP and configurable by a webbroswser;) really cute
I can only second this ! cyrus should be your choice when it comes to high user/mail count. Also it can be seperated from normal system autorisation, thanks to SASL.
we use some VoIP on our 100 mbit switched lan, and we have MASSIVE problems with it.
One big problem is echo. The pbx will allready do software based echo cancellation for calls on normal calls, but you still hear it.
The reason for it is, that normal soundcards (sb live) + headseds still seem to suck. We are now trying usb phones, that should work better in theory..
but right now.. it don't think that voip will render normal systems useless..
Uh.. there IS reliable multicast. There are quite some different approaches to it.
One would be to to cache some of the data in the routers (or on computers near the routers), which can be retransmitted if someone down the leaf sends NACK's...
Brooks never managed to get his beaviour based approach to higher levels than simply evading objects. If you read his (older) papers, you can understand why:)
So.. I think they use beaviour based functions for the low-level functions (evading objects, etc), and SMPA for the higher levels, like map building, navigation, reaching a goal, etc.
I'll second this. Go look out for some small x86 based computer, there are quite alot book-sized ones. stick a ttf monitor to it, put out the hardrive (for noise), and boot it over network (there was a nice article here about the terminal server for schools here..)

of our server in germany, 213.x ip ;)
statistikAn better idea would be to put the hosts into some sort of logging (mysql, etc), then run a shell script every 5 minutes or so that blocks those hosts

There are some known problems with earlier version of xfs (did try Test-1 myself, and it did not work :)
so did anyone try it yet ? does it work ?
good summary, expect that the first blow up was old tokyo :)

How about mon ? its a great and flexible tool. you can set up to monitor web sites (witht their http client), and send alarms in various ways..
look at http://www.kernel.org/software/mon/

actually I think the newer robots use both sides.

in NT (4.0 or 2000) you can directly assign letters to hard drives with the hard disk manager. I don't known if win9*/ME does honor these flags.
so .. do you REALLY think its going to stop them just becuase its forbidden ???
Here it's also forbidden, but it happens all the time, and everyone knows it.
