Pardon the pun but "manned" drones have 'skin in the game'. I mechanic and pilot are going to be determined not to get themselves killed and follow that safety checklist to the T. When it's an ITT tech just working on a fleet of ROV/drones steps will be skipped because "who's really going to catch this" and no ones safety is at risk.. that is until the drone crashes and burns into a house/trampoline/pool with occupants.
Maybe it's not about the specific task. Maybe strengtheneing the gross supporting muscle groups/visual acuity offers additional accuracy to the finer smaller muscles or perception that are involved. e.g. Karate Kid - "Wax on Wax off Danielson!
You train dogs to eliminate on demand. Having cows do the same is actually more humane.
Why? One can monitor the stool and if anything is up the animal can be treated faster instead of letting it suffer for weeks on end. Every time I let my dogs out, I'm not to far away from where they do their business so I can monitor if they are having any trouble or if there is something present I should be concerned about (worms/ blood in stool). Another advantage is you can clean up any mess from the animal using the restroom and keep it in a cleaner environment.
I don't know of the school but when a school adds curriculum custom tailored to a fields need (the ones the Advisers were focusing on) this is usually greeted with open arms. It's a stamp of the company/org does not have to waste my time teaching a basic concept.
Think of it like hiring someone from X university's CS program.. you can expect the person to know when and how to apply recursion. That said I'm skeptical too.. is this University/Program be accredited?
Whether warranted or not.. a degree has a certain social status appeal to it. Look at online dating or even people talking about "undateable traits", one can filter out those who do not have HS Diplomas, Bachelors, Masters.
OCD only in the respect that some mail has sensitive private data (S.S., DOB, Address, CC Info, Phone #, kids names) and I don't want that sitting there overnight or even more than an hour really.
The real question is when are they going to bump up business spam mail rates.
AN effective use would be to post them on major traffic zones so someone can view 4 cameras on a rotation that people can lookup an avoid high traffic areas and grab alternate routes.
1 data point.
I've received one, it was a weird intersection where the light was in the middle instead of at the far side of the intersection. It was a fresh yellow and I was turning right, I slowed down to look for a pedestrian then back to oncoming traffic from the left, it was clear and I went. I slowed down enough so that the light turned red before I started seriously turning. The light was out of view from my perspective and I took the right hand turn. A live cop would probably let it go after a license plate check came up clean. The ticket was not high enough to warrant me fighting it in court but high enough that it stung a little. Also the video when analyzed was clear from an outside perspective that a violation occurred. Now I pay really close attention to the lights and practically full stop on all yellows to the complete frustration of people behind me. Safer? I don't know but it does affect how I drive. I just hope I don't get rear ended.
You are coming at this from a capitalist perspective.. That you need to have something tangible in order for it to be of any value. This is about the story, the interaction, the preparation, the communal or militaristic teamwork.
There are Native American tribes with less than 500 people who value sacred ceremonies, dance rituals and burn up the items used in the dance afterwords. There are no tangible assets, it's about the moment, and do you think any member of the tribe cares if the ceremony is worth anything to outsiders of the community? As long as outsiders don't interfere with it or misrepresent it... the answer is no.
Now Eve Online regularly has 40k-60k accounts online daily. Lets say it's 15k real people. That's quite a bit bigger population than the Native American tribe I just mentioned. I would assume that the Eve players enjoy it and do not really care who outside their community thinks thinks that the time could be spent on something else. I'm not saying that an MMO is on par with a tribes beliefs. I'm refuting the statement that one should cease and desist because no one outside a given community thinks it is worthwhile.
I suppose it is a little like playing sport, except the richness of human interaction there is irreplaceable and fitness has huge physiological benefits.
I've played other MMOs and Eve's community is pretty tight knit. I've seen/heard lots of interaction during slow prep times, meet ups, even players helping each other after disasters (Sandy/Katrina/getting kicked out of house by father), assisting people on how not to get screwed by their employer, networking, helping others' on coding, assistance with the legal avenues for an immigration status for someone not born in the U.S. but grew up here since the age of 3.. the list goes on and on. The interaction for Eve is just as deep or even deeper than a sports buddy.
I don't dispute the physiological and psychological benefits of exercise. However, one of the things that sets eve apart is that your "xp bar" is filled by real time passed (not logged in time) and modified a little by implants. This affords one the ability to take a couple weeks off the game and not feel "left behind." This feels like freedom compared to other MMOs that have xp grinds and eve lets one to have a life outside the game.
"Good use of technology" but the question in my mind is how much land are the tearing up mining resources for this device. I'm sure it comes out ahead (hopefully) but it is an interesting aspect to look at how much are we using the earth + environmental impact to save the other parts of earth. There must be some type of battery, what resistance does it have to corrosion? Will it leak any contaminants.. etc etc.
1. Story time, Kids are occupied with the librarian while you are not the direct focus of your child.
2. Meet new people, have your kids meet new people and interact with an adult other than their teacher or you. It's actually nice for a kid to see that not all adults want something out of them (teacher - homework, parent - chores)
3. Librarians keep up on the latest books and some of the classics that you or your child might be interested in. Monthly selections on all sorts of books and media that you might not think to look for but there it is displayed for you to peruse.
4. Book clubs for adults - these can be enlightening and fun if you get the right mix of people and similar interest in titles. Not everything can be translated over text on book forums/amazon reviews.
I really don't get this move. The story line is usually solo or done with only one other person or you start losing companions substituted by real players. A lot of the romantic items happen on the ship which no one really invites others to their ship (or at least no one invites slashdotters to their ship). This just seems like it's going to piss off the already dwindling fan base. This sucks for the LBG... groups that just want to play the game with their friends and explore story lines on their own.
There are some really exciting opportunities for growth on the African continent where French is used but not necessarily as an official language.

A close 2nd choice but more practical in your scenario.
Spanish - Spanish is really common in the U.S. and might open some opportunities Stateside not to mention opportunities in Central and South America and the Philippines.
line of site can also mean a line from the artillery source to target. Where you draw a straight line between the two points but the artillery actually arcs above obstructions.
The real problem is that it takes time to pick a lock and criminals don't like taking the chance of being seen stooped over looking a lock. They are really easy to pick, however. I taught myself how to pick locks while working one summer for a builders hardware company.
AC speaks the truth. I was burglarized last year. The door was picked by force (kicked open). Picking locks as described in this book is for those that don't want people to know someone has been in your private spaces.
You are correct the robots name is Big Tex and his animatronics were burned to the ground last Oct. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Tex

It makes me wonder if there are any kickbacks for auctioned off seized items.

Or turns a red light green when there is only one car. at the intersection. This happens a lot in the wee hours of the night.

You're correct I did misread the latter half of your post. Thanks.
We have to kill Bronygramming before killing Brogramming, it's the greater of two evils.

I saw an episode of Real Sports with Gumbel(sp?) where the NFL is reducing the number of practice days with full contact to reduce hits to the head. When the NCAA was asked to do the the same they balked. http://youtu.be/UKIYAtnLLOA?t=6s NCAA is now being named in a class action lawsuit: http://oklahoma-criminal-defense.com/blog/2012/11/ncaa-named-in-head-injury-class-action/
Depends on who you want to interface with. If it were me I'd go with French for the global stage. Their past colonization efforts make it one of the most common languages across the globe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_where_French_is_an_official_language

line of sight = visual line to the object.
line of site = can be Radio line of site where the path can be obstructed but the signal waves still pass through to destination. Cisco uses this in some of there documentation. (page 2 - http://www.cisco.com/web/partners/downloads/765/tools/quickreference/aironet.pdf).
