I live in Alabama. My Wife is a Philippine national. She applied for her learners permit took the test and after checking her passport and handing her the learners permit, the lady handed her an application to register to vote. I told her off! I told her in no uncertain terms that she had just seen the passport of this lady and voting was for CITIZENS not for everybody who passes by. The people of America had better wake up to this one.
You didn't get the point. The fuel you bring is the same as now. The Efficiency of a Reformer/fuel cell combination allows 3:1 increase in thermal efficiency in the use of the fuel and the Storage is your wonderful max from gasoline. The Fuel Cell using a reformer uses your gasoline or oil or any Hydrogen containing fuel
The only issue that remains is sourcing the fuel. That is a technology that is fairly well addressed but needs a lot of just basic work. Methanol for example which is actually energy about the same density as gasoline can be made by biological processes from sunlight or synthetic processes similarly.
The Fuel Cell/Reformer combination is about 65% thermally efficient vs a gasoline engine at about 18% (Big Difference ~ To the mods not TROLL just fact!)
The Fuel Cell is not an issue of MJ/kg. It actually is just like an engine that uses a molecular method to generate electricity. Functionally it is a fueled battery but the fuel is your choice. If you care about the environment the real issue on Fuel Cells/Fuel Reformers is that they currently are hand made and cost a lot. (Current car version $150,000 or so) If we scaled the production like what happened with IC's to current chips we would see the cost per car drop to about $2,000 or less in short order. Like chips the cost of such a facility would be in the order of several billion dollars but the volume of production costs per item would be so cheap as to almost defy consideration. The issue here is motivation not technical ability.
However as usual this has almost nothing to do with the nonsensical religious preoccupation many people have to the "Global Warming" ideas. Actually the world beginning a cool off cycle related to a lunar orbital issue that has a 4500 year cycle which peaked the heating side of the cycle in 1997! Somehow someone will try to argue with this. It still is the truth and sinks the whole issue (Global Warming) into the relm of absurd.
Just remember all those posts regarding MJ/kg are wrong. A fuel Cell is not a Fuel. It uses a fuel. Hydrogen may have the ratios stated but it is irrelevant if you generate the hydrogen from Gasoline or methanol because they are the source you are measuring against. Just like that most of the ideas about "Global Warming" are also just as mistaken. The supposed data on Ocean Levels rising has no basis in fact. Shorelines have risen and fallen at the same time world wide.
As a researcher in Hybred Vehicles I know about the issue of energy density. I expect it to be resolved quite pleasantly with a fuel cell/fuel reformer combination and use Gasoline as the fuel or methanol or similar.
This solves so many problems. Energy efficiency is up about 3:1 safety is even higher than now. Fuels use standard tech to transport etc.The issue of supply of the energy to make the gasoline or methanol has a lot of solutions. The idea of transporting Hydrogen as a gas to power a vehicle is out on many grounds including the fact that it leaks awfully bad. The reformer and cell combination is a proved bit of tech.
Now as to this Global Warming CRAP! This is another computer enhanced delusion. The reason the ocean level is at present levels has little or nothing to to do with the phase of the water on the planet. It has to do with GRAVITY and frankly the position of the continents relative to the water is subject to change and has done so freqently over time. Whole continents have slid beneath the sea and risen above it. The reasons have nothing to do with global temperatures. It has to do with a principal called Archamedes Principal which frankly will fix all their dire forcasts. It has never been found to have exceptions and it works every time.
The reason Continents are "Floating" and they are is the issue that should be researched. It is not well known as of yet. Rest assured that they are "Floating" and will so long as the causes remain they will continue to float regardless of how "Full" the ocean gets. The adjustment is continual.
This is a great comment MOD this guy up! I have worked for the State of Alabama Department of Revenue Sales and Use Tax Division in the past. This will save money on collection and reward people for doing good. My Only objection to what is said here is that the Flat tax is actually worse than the current Income Tax. A National Sales Tax and you could kiss the IRS goodbye. Just don't associate the two.
Definitionally a Flat tax is the end of small business. It wipes out the deductions against Income for individuals and does not allow you to count them against your earnings as a whole. At the same time a "Flat Tax" would leave the same deductions in place for the Big Co's.
The Sales Tax taxes everybody the same. The most profound thing it does, is that it ends the tax advantages now extended to foreign (Not USA) businesses and individuals causing all players here to pay equally. It also frees US Exports from being mostly US INCOME Tax allowing us to compete in the world market. Want to watch the world scream for protection from the Americans... ? Pass the National Sales Tax and repeal any income taxes.

I would agree that Communism is not right, but the higher and higher we push productivity the less the paycheck has to do with what you did!
While his example is the reduction to absurdity it is on track and quite correct in the general direction of events.
The issue for humanity is if human beings will work for the Industrialists machines until declared obsolete or if Humanity will by require the Industrialists machines to work for them.
Using the current 12.5% per annum growth in productivity from the US Economy we could see a work week reduction on a declining balance for productivity assuming no increase in the rate which is occuring at the rate of about 2% per year (Added next year 14.5%). We could see the work week reduced to 5 hours in just 17 years and see the same productivity per worker. Assuming the same fixed rate and expecting double paychecks of the current we could easily see the same number in 22 years.
Using the actual rate of increase in productivity the 5 hour same work week happens in just 10 years and a double wage 5 hour week happens in just 12 years. But if you expect to see this in your paycheck you had better reverse the math with the current policy. In about 10 years I would expect the US Economy to see real wages for the same amount of work to be about 12.5% of the current level. This matches quite well to what is happening to the value of the dollar! So INVESTORS had best wake up! This screwing labor is screwing you!
Not only is the Story Wrong but even the thinking behind the ruling is wrong.
Overtime laws were set in place first during the 1930's to reduce labor supplies in order to maintain some price levels to prevent deflation. During World War 2 the US War Department (Now DOD) ran into a problem with productivity. They had very highly motivated workers who had been starved for money and who had family in the field fighting and dying. These workers wanted to win the war all by themselves THIS WEEK!
The problem developed that they bought the ideas behind the new rules that more hours of work ment more productivity. So they wrote contracts with companies that open endedly encouraged long hours. As soon as these began productivity spiked upwards and by the end of a month it had crashed to levels in the order of 50% or less of what productivity had been during the 8 hr/day 40hr/week times. The hours were pushing upwards to 100 or more a week so the US War Department did some serious studies on productivity.
Their research showed that after about 35 to 36 hours a week of work, no additional productivity could be sustained even working much longer. In factory line situations this was even worse as defect rates rose catastrophically. Simply stated the 40 hr work week was about 4 hours too long for human functionality. By 44 hours the situation was seeing rates of production drop dramatically. By 72 hrs nonfunctionality had happened.
Studies have been done of office workers on this issue and the numbers are even worse for them on hours of sustained productivity. The reality is that OVERTIME is no good for families, industry or profits! It is a good way to get programs or devices that fail. In offices where workers salaried are paid flat rates, we often see long periods of non-productive time because of this. The few "Workaholics" we see are mostly very busy but frankly most of them actually damage the production effort in the long run. Unfortunately they look good to management who often does not look to see where the money came from.
The whole ideals set for the Bush team is an early industrial revolution set of ideas that did not work. Their "Adam Smith" "Invisible Hand" theories do not work either. Their concept is that there is a shortage of labor. This is inspite of 80 years of American History showing that we have a profoundly dangerous over supply of labor both in the USA and world wide.
The Technolological progress many of us in IT are responsible for is actually increasing the world wide efficiency of the labor by about 12% a year. This is threatening to collapse the market all together. This is the "Jobless Recovery" that is still very much a reality. By the way, don't give me the crap about 308,000 jobs in March. It is probably a fiction anyway but assuming it is true, the USA must add nearly 360,000 jobs a month for static economic conditions to be maintained due to population changes. The USA must also increase income by about 3.5% per annum for the same reasons. It currently is seeing rises in income about 1%/annum which translates into a 2.5% cut in actual wages per average person.
The Recounts were not messed up by the Supreme Court of the USA. Sorry but to the Democrats out there in the USA who are bitter [I don't like Bush either] take a chill pill. The Florida Supreme Court messed up by trying to make law and the US Supreme Court called them down.
To further educate (assuming it is possible) these people if Al Gore had not lost Arkansas or Tennessee the whole issue would not have come up. The actual decision was made in Tennessee which had a barf attack at their native son Al Gore. The reasons for this were obvious to those who traveled either of the two states (Ar or Tn). Frankly neither state got any benefits from having their people in High Office. As soon as Al and Bill left their respective states, they left them behind forever! Coming back and asking people you just stiffed to vote for you is not a good prospect for success. Cheated people tend to be a bit angry at who cheated them.
Regards Electronic Voting and cheating, well those remain serious issues. The problem is that electronic voting doesn't necessarily "work properly" just because the election went off without any evidence of misdeeds. Frankly electronic balloting eliminates the evidence of misdeeds. This is like the banks who announced that tellers quit making errors when they went to computers. The reality was that the banks just eliminated evidence of the errors by computers.
Don't forget to vote out those who think that Americans should pay for everything for everybody else and then have their market flooded with those goods/services/persons who don't pay the taxes to support this heavy load.

Start by recognizing that what the "Republican" leadership calls "Free Trade" is nothing of the sort. To be blunt what is going on is a Classical Trade War.
In a Classical Trade War a national government applies a tariff against the trade goods or services coming from one particular nation in order to deny the traders from the tariffed nation access to the market. Typically these tariffs are so high as to prohibit trade though they may be lower. Typically the Classical Trade War made to enforce foreign policy. It is also typically a hostile act by one nation against the people of another nation. The only thing not typical about the current "Free Trade" Trade War is that the tariffs are laid against US Citizens and Perminant Resident Aliens by the US Government. The Foreign policy factors are quite the same. The US Foreign policy is the destruction of the domestic US Identity. This is consistent with their policy on immigration, borders and trade.
This tariff laid by the US Government represents about a 150% markup against true labor cost on a single layer. Because the US Tax system is multiplicative it actually functionally is a markup above 1,000% (Mulitplier effect stuff here) This essentially prohibits Americans from competing either in their own market or externally in the world market.
This is actually a foreign policy goal by certain elites in Washington DC who think that Americans are "Too Rich" and by the multinationals who are offended by the power of the USA. I am not accusing here. This is their stated opinion.
The reason that many people do not see that this is a trade war is primarily related to their refusal to believe that the US Government is not working for them. In addition many foreign people simply cannot conceive of a nation actually working against its own people.
This trade war was backed into. Had the USA no border tariffs and no income taxes and it was proposing to lay the current high domestic income taxes onto the people, they would see this clearly as a move to destroy them economically. Because the Income Taxes and the US border Tariffs existed at the same time, and it was the tariffs that were dropped under the "Free Trade Agreements" (FTA's) nobody seems to have seen the reality of what was going on.
The foreign people to the USA are more than willing to take advantage of this. They don't see that the situation is more damaging to them than to the USA. Because the US Worker is "handicapped" about 3:1 against the non US workers, they easily undercut the US workers. This causes the US Worker to have to cut his cost per unit of production (Note: Not Rate per hour but rate per unit of production) The means he achives this is unimportant. This causes a decline in the price of the goods/services thus causing the foreign worker to cut. The cycle is ENDLESS. More terrifying to the foreign worker is the reality that his money is coming not from domestic economy to him, but from the USA. As this cycle continues, he destroys the very engine of his prosperity causing his own job to be lost. While this takes time, the real effects here can be seen in many industries world wide. This is the economy of a man who buys his house and sells the building materials it is composed of to pay his bills. In the end he is destroyed without a house and without income.
The problem here is that the more educated Americans become the more efficient they become at reducing their cost per unit of production. This Republican Squawk is a destraction to keep the world from seeing that he is a pirate. To be fair. The Democrats (Dumbocrats as I call them) don't seem to realize that their leaders are doing this too. Mr. Kerry's wife is one of the biggest in the world at this process. She is driving it hard and that is why they will not disclose her tax returns!

I love all of the jokes about antigravity devices. They are lovely. Curiously though not only have methods of developing antigravity been developed, they have in fact been demonstrated and are the focus of some research.
The issue of antigravity efforts seems to center around scaling the demonstrations to a practical level. A considerable amount of natural evidence exists for antigravity functions as well. Tornados for example have clearly demonstrated this function.
Essentially the issue seems to center around the definition of an orbit. A classical orbit is described by an eliptical path for a ballistic mass which does not intersect the mass at the focal area(s) of the elipse. This is usually seen as an elipse that must occur along a plane slicing through the center of mass of the central body for the orbit.
Hydrogen and Helium gasses have a nuclear spin elipse that is at or above escape velocity for the earth. They tend to allign this elipse parallel in two axis to the normal orbital elipse plane of the earth but seperated along the z axis from that plane by large distances. They achieve escape from the planet while the "orbital speed" is adequate it is all an elipse within the nuclei of the atoms.
I am sure this is all getting into your head pretty deeply but it is pretty simple. Hydrogen and Helium orbit but they do so above escape velocity and they leave the planet as a result. They demonstrate "antigravity" to the earth. They are not "Displaced" they are levitated away. They continue to leave when on displacement exists in the exospheric areas.
This has been demonstrated by taking substantial masses and spinning them at very high speed. They lose a percentage of their mass equal to the velocity of the orbit indicated by their net rotation. The problem is that to get close to escape velocity the rotation with metals and ceramic disks disintergrates the masses into fragments. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance efforts have demonstrated essentially the same thing.
The solution appears to be one which causes the nuclear mass to accelerate without disrupting the structure. The problem generally has been that the plane of the orbit must allign to the z axis of the earth. This is somewhat of a problem. It is clear that some super conductors do this when in a strong magnetic field but shortly after leaving the field they misallign and lose the effect.
A tornado being a very large natural particle accelerator in some cases has demonstrated that intact items weighing over 100 Kg can be levitated for miles upwards and sustain this for extended periods of upwards of hours. These masses tend to be ferric in type.
This is very closely tied up with electo-magnetism. There seems in this to be absolutely no evidence to support the idea of Gravity as many people believe exists. Rather it appears that "Gravity" is an electromagnetic effect corresponding to a "Pressure" in a media. But I am sure the Higher Physics types will deny this obvious reality. Well the facts may alter their arguments a bit.

Ken Lay on the other hand I could easily complain that a firing squad for him was too nice! Sometimes I don't think people get the scale of the damaged done by certain offenders. The "Bubble" that burst with Enron's collapse and many others though it was a principal was about $8 Trillion. All the gangsters and thieves in all time couldn't touch that. Enron was in the $50 Billion range. Same. The "Bubble" was so big that it exceeded the entire world income prior to 1960! It exceeded the Cold War in cost. It was really grand thieft USA. On the other hand the video recording of a movie one is viewing is most likely going to do something strange. It is most likely going to stimulate sales of Videos etc. (Why the MPAA people get upset and get laws passed this way is curious to say the least.) I know that it is counter intuitive to say so, but frankly every time the Audio/Video Industry starts getting more money per sale due to new media or tighter Copy enforcement, their sales drop. Every time they let go... Sales cut loose.
Just a curious suggestion but I think that they should sell CD's of movies at the showing! I just wouldn't release their sales to Walmart etc until some time later.
This is not an invasion of privacy or a violation of "Probable Cause." It isn't even a proof of offense. It was supportive evidence which might lack some degree of accuracy but the Violation was absolutely clear.
I have no problem with us using data such as this to support response to clear violations. This man actually had comitted an offense that sans the box we still would have good reason to do what was done. With the box data there is simply more assurance that justice was served. I mean the guy was hit and killed wasn't he? That alone was enough evidence. The issue of care and etc only was valued as part of determining what to do.

This is a profoundly different case in Canada than in the USA. In the USA pure evidence of a "violation" does not constitute "Probable Cause" for a warrant for arrest. In Canada where your rights come not from "God" but by permit from the state, such a "violation" alone is sufficient to cause legal action.
This is the difference between a "Stoplight" camera which gives tickets and a person seeing the running of the stoplight and seeing a problem arise. The issue is if an injury is extremely likely to happen or has happened as opposed to merely an event happening.

By its very nature a weblog blog or some other chat is going to have its text blathered all over the place and will be logged automatically by many servers. Bluntly only an IDIOT Lawyer (Liar) could possibly imagine that a conversant's message sent over the internet was not being recorded. Furthermore; it should be implied that it will be recorded. This is like going down town and buying gasoline at the local station and NOT expecting to be filmed from 6 angles.
It would take a lawyer with some intelligence (say slightly more than 3 large rocks and a brick) to defeat any claim that a party to a Weblog or blog or chatroom had not consented by appearing there to be recorded.
This claim is a non-starter if the judge actually has any judgement.
To be fair this does bring up an issue of the use of the data. (Something we in the/. community really aught to take up and help the Legal Idiots fix) Just because data may be recorded and is in public doesn't mean it really should be used outside of "Necessary Use" conditions. For Example I am sure the TV Cameras at a Gas Station have a real purpose, but if the owner started using the films and sound for (Use your Imagination) some other purposes, clear they might well be Misuse. I don't think that just because everything someone says is recorded we should use it or that we even should collate it and store it outside "Reasonable Uses." Great to hear that India is going over to TUX! Americans will be along shortly. The tipping point is starting. Americans have paid about 3 or 4 times for new machines and higher capacity machines than they ever needed because the Borg forced machines into obsolescence. TUX says buy a new machine when you need one not when the Borg says to. Most Americans find themselves buying new software that is unnecessary as well. There is no reason that software should go out of use unless it does not fit the needs. TUX allows you to fit needs with the right solution.
By Linux I was able to get a very low end processor and mother board to replace a failed machine and all I had to do was plug in the Hard drive from the old machine and clip in the old memory chips. Ready to GO! M$ wanted me to see that *#$!! Blue Screen of Death. Linux Rescued my whole data set. NOT BAD when you think of the problems of losing a machine to a hardware failure and then losing all of your data to boot. The Borg wants you to suffer that loss and TUX well he comes to the rescue!
At work I needed to do some Install Testing on a M$ platform. Linux allowed me to restore to Pristine Pre Install form in just about 10 minutes the M$ Partition! This allowed me to make sure that even working in M$ I did my best. TUX Works and the Borg... Well try an install of any of their OS in 10 minutes by their disks.
Being someone who finds crossword puzzles hoplessly boring and one who ignores them religiously, I found the story pretty good. This actually is a important step in understanding the computational network of the brain and thus design structures for computers.
Projects like the DARPA Grand Challenge and others of great importance to us all rely on the dream that we will come up with "Artificial Intelligence" some day. The failures in such projects arise from their failure to reverse engineer the already well proved natural process.
Driving a vehicle for example is a proved process with known inputs and known outputs. It is reliable and we even know the failures in the process. The problem requires the understanding that all that needs to be done is to reverse engineer the natural processes involved. The study of the brain is part of this reverse engineering process. So for those Yawining out there, I hope the light just went on!
The parent of this post has no idea what is going on or how the decision to build a WalMart is made or its effects on the community
WalMart does not build any stores. They get the local government through an Industrial development board to build the store. If the location lacks profits they simply move on leaving the store and its debt to the community. If the store makes a profit, the WalMart organization absorbs it.
WalMart gets this amazing deal because it promices increased tax receipts to the community. Usually the store is built with a Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG) which makes any rent coming back to the community for the store be a "repayment" of the grant that the Federal HUD supplied. In short the level of corruption here is very deep. The city gets money it never had. The WalMart gets a store it did not buy at rents well below any market rates and at no risk.
In this store even the machinery and shelving are purchaced under the IDB. This makes the interest on the money be very low and makes the purchace of the items be Sales Tax exempt.
So Walmart gets a store for free and you wonder why the Mom and Pop stores are dying out when they pay the taxes to support this? Free Enterprise it isn't. It is Faschism! Supporting this as Libertarian or such is pure ignorance. Walmart is using the power of the state to crush the ordinary businessman who has to pay his bills and taxes. This is not CONSUMER CHOICE! It is political choice.
The issue goes even further when you realize that Walmart extorts it's suppliers into stocking the store as "Vendors" so that they make a profit without even having to buy the inventory. They make about 5% a turn and do it 80 times a year. If Mom and Pop could get their inventory this way they might just match or beat Walmart but well lets just say they are too busy paying taxes that Walmart is not.
Walmart sets up offshore supply mechanisms to export the 400%+ ROI they are getting on somebody elses money so that under "Repatraition" under NAFTA and GATT they avoid even the Income Taxes on this massive income. They also avoid having to pay their stockholders any significant fraction of these earnings. They can set their profits at any level they want to fit the market because their real earnings for the family are many times that of what is publically reported.
This was what was at issue in Califoria recently when some people there actually said NO!
The RICO charges were due to their shaking down Medicare and Medicaid patients maxing their benefits etc largly associated with Home Health but I assume in Hospital as well. They busted any worthwhile Home Health services in the USA!
The most rational set of questions to ask start with the most imporant ones to Investors.
[1] How many dollars of dividends has your company been able to pay to their shareholders as a result of "Outsourcing?"
[2] How much has your compensation risen including all factors since you began "Outsourcing?"
[3] How many dollars of payroll did you save as a result of "Outsourcing?" Be sure to include any Executive Raises as countervailing factors.
[4] Have you had any of your Intellectual Capital Stolen as a result of "Outsourcing." This is probably the biggest and worst part but it never gets talk.
[5] What Liability does my company incurr if data handled in "Outsourced" facilities is diverted to ILLEGAL Purposes such as Identity theft?
[6] What legal devices do we have to deal with employees who misuse data we "Outsource" the processing and service of.
[7] If the data or programming serviced is "Outsourced" what does it do to National Security. This is a common problem with Defense Contractors now. Most outsourcing functionally becomes Industrial Spying for the company Hired to service in the other country.
[8] Does outsourcing this service cause the development of competition which may destroy the operation?
After the issues of Company profitablity are discussed then get down to the other issues.
[1] Are you Receiving assistance to be in business from State or Local Governments such as Industrial Development Bonds etc?
[2] Do you meet the US EEOC requirements in the employement of all of the Outsourced employees? (Age Sex etc discrimination) Most Outsourcing actually is a masquerade for some form of racism or sexism.
[3] Do you deal with the US Government directly or as a subcontractor? If so how do you expect the government to be able to pay your contract if everyone avoids paying US Taxes by "Outsourcing"?
[4] Do you expect the United States Government to protect your operations using if need be Military Forces to make sure your trade is safe? If so how do you expect to have it paid for when you avoid paying the taxes which support it by "Outsourcing?"
[5] Can you point to any nation which has benefitted by lowering wages and reducing its standard of living?
[6] Do you like trading in the lucrative market in the USA? If so how do you think that it will remain lucrative with you and others "Outsourcing."
[7] Are you as an American Incorporated Company benefiting by US Laws, Currency and infrastructure? If so how do you expect this to be maintained if you continue "Outsourcing."
Then you can come down to the issues such as the effects on Citizens generally. These include:
[1] Do you believe that United States Citizens have any rights in their own land that arise from Citizenship? If so what are they? If so how do your actions affect these rights?
[2] What value do you believe should be placed on loyalty to your fellow countrymen?
[3] How important is the USA to world safety and prosperity with regards to the cost of lives and treasure from US Taxpayers taken to pay for these actions and conditions?
The whole set of issues here address the matter indirectly but they completely attack the reasoning behind the "Outsourcing" game.
The parent here is a fool lost in the smokescreen the "Outsourcing" crowd puts out. Nurses don't earn that kind of money in the first place except in extremely high priced regions like San Francisco. Second the industry is outsourcing. You see I am an RN who left the profession because of outsourcing and the criminally bad management of the industry. I retrained as Software Engineer.
The "Shortage" of Nurses is entirely smoke and mirrors put out to justify what currently is UNLIMITED H-2 visas being issued by the BICS for NURSES. They even took 3 years as work in any medical field as equal to 1 year of College for RN. Thus you could have someone soon caring for you who knows nothing about nursing except cleaning beds. But Ignorant fools like the parent of this post will not learn until it is they themselves who get no care or are hurt. By then they will be too weak and too broke to be able to fuss.
I personally watched in Nashville Tn while the heads of Columbia HCA were arrested for RICO Violations in a "No Knock Raid" on their HQ near Centennial Park. I have seen their actions first hand and know how illegal they are. The claims of Nursing Shortages and High Wages are put out by people those kind of people.
Check out the "Terminator Gene" if you are tempted to think this stuff is FUD. Look into the Gypsy Moth or Killer Bees. This isn't some computer code you can just delete. It hangs around in the environment.
The morals of Monsanto Corp the owner of the gene and the Roundup herbacide in question are beneath contempt. They were intending to release into the environment a gene which could have ended the genetic line of all plants not under their control. It took massive pressure to stop the Terminator Gene.
Seeds are not the only means for spreading these genes. Pollen has continental range. Migratory birds often carry these seeds and pollen. The range here by accident (look up fire ants) is global.
Being a "Green Revolutionary" I like modern farming practices generally. In this case the benefit of the doubt should always rest with the "Greens" they are right here.
Monsanto is suing farmers for breach of patient rights if crops are found on their farm which contain the gene talked about here. Even if the gene arrived as wind blown pollen the courts are ruling that the royalties are due. Even if the gene is only a small fraction of the crop this is enforced. This essentially gives Monsanto ownership of all crops in North America. This is the reason most of the world does not want GMO crops or foods. It violates even the most basic of common law rights to be able to reproduce ones own crops or plants.
The FUD here is entirely by Monsanto and their allies. Those who ignorantly think this is some "Free Enterprise" situation need to rethink their position.
Genetic Engineering is the single most powerful science mankind has ever handled. It has great potential for good and equally great potential to eradicate life from the planet. Handling and containing and carefully managing it should be viewed to be at least as important as the issues involved in NUCLEAR ENERGY safety.
The Behavior of Monsanto Company tells us that they are quite willing to do almost anything and do any damage without regard to the consequences to others. Such behavior should be regarded about like Witchcraft was viewed during the middle ages in Europe. It took massive outcry to stop them from the "Terminator Gene" though it could return at any moment.
Legislation needs to be passed and means to control such needs to be made manditory. The problem here is that this is a "cookbook" science requiring little in devices and little in technology. Imagine if Al Qaeda got into this kind of coding.

I live in Alabama. My Wife is a Philippine national. She applied for her learners permit took the test and after checking her passport and handing her the learners permit, the lady handed her an application to register to vote. I told her off! I told her in no uncertain terms that she had just seen the passport of this lady and voting was for CITIZENS not for everybody who passes by. The people of America had better wake up to this one.
You didn't get the point. The fuel you bring is the same as now. The Efficiency of a Reformer/fuel cell combination allows 3:1 increase in thermal efficiency in the use of the fuel and the Storage is your wonderful max from gasoline. The Fuel Cell using a reformer uses your gasoline or oil or any Hydrogen containing fuel
The only issue that remains is sourcing the fuel. That is a technology that is fairly well addressed but needs a lot of just basic work. Methanol for example which is actually energy about the same density as gasoline can be made by biological processes from sunlight or synthetic processes similarly.
The Fuel Cell/Reformer combination is about 65% thermally efficient vs a gasoline engine at about 18% (Big Difference ~ To the mods not TROLL just fact!)The Fuel Cell is not an issue of MJ/kg. It actually is just like an engine that uses a molecular method to generate electricity. Functionally it is a fueled battery but the fuel is your choice. If you care about the environment the real issue on Fuel Cells/Fuel Reformers is that they currently are hand made and cost a lot. (Current car version $150,000 or so) If we scaled the production like what happened with IC's to current chips we would see the cost per car drop to about $2,000 or less in short order. Like chips the cost of such a facility would be in the order of several billion dollars but the volume of production costs per item would be so cheap as to almost defy consideration. The issue here is motivation not technical ability.
However as usual this has almost nothing to do with the nonsensical religious preoccupation many people have to the "Global Warming" ideas. Actually the world beginning a cool off cycle related to a lunar orbital issue that has a 4500 year cycle which peaked the heating side of the cycle in 1997! Somehow someone will try to argue with this. It still is the truth and sinks the whole issue (Global Warming) into the relm of absurd.
Just remember all those posts regarding MJ/kg are wrong. A fuel Cell is not a Fuel. It uses a fuel. Hydrogen may have the ratios stated but it is irrelevant if you generate the hydrogen from Gasoline or methanol because they are the source you are measuring against. Just like that most of the ideas about "Global Warming" are also just as mistaken. The supposed data on Ocean Levels rising has no basis in fact. Shorelines have risen and fallen at the same time world wide.
As a researcher in Hybred Vehicles I know about the issue of energy density. I expect it to be resolved quite pleasantly with a fuel cell/fuel reformer combination and use Gasoline as the fuel or methanol or similar.
This solves so many problems. Energy efficiency is up about 3:1 safety is even higher than now. Fuels use standard tech to transport etc.The issue of supply of the energy to make the gasoline or methanol has a lot of solutions. The idea of transporting Hydrogen as a gas to power a vehicle is out on many grounds including the fact that it leaks awfully bad. The reformer and cell combination is a proved bit of tech.Now as to this Global Warming CRAP! This is another computer enhanced delusion. The reason the ocean level is at present levels has little or nothing to to do with the phase of the water on the planet. It has to do with GRAVITY and frankly the position of the continents relative to the water is subject to change and has done so freqently over time. Whole continents have slid beneath the sea and risen above it. The reasons have nothing to do with global temperatures. It has to do with a principal called Archamedes Principal which frankly will fix all their dire forcasts. It has never been found to have exceptions and it works every time.
The reason Continents are "Floating" and they are is the issue that should be researched. It is not well known as of yet. Rest assured that they are "Floating" and will so long as the causes remain they will continue to float regardless of how "Full" the ocean gets. The adjustment is continual.
This is a great comment MOD this guy up! I have worked for the State of Alabama Department of Revenue Sales and Use Tax Division in the past. This will save money on collection and reward people for doing good. My Only objection to what is said here is that the Flat tax is actually worse than the current Income Tax. A National Sales Tax and you could kiss the IRS goodbye. Just don't associate the two.
Definitionally a Flat tax is the end of small business. It wipes out the deductions against Income for individuals and does not allow you to count them against your earnings as a whole. At the same time a "Flat Tax" would leave the same deductions in place for the Big Co's.
The Sales Tax taxes everybody the same. The most profound thing it does, is that it ends the tax advantages now extended to foreign (Not USA) businesses and individuals causing all players here to pay equally. It also frees US Exports from being mostly US INCOME Tax allowing us to compete in the world market. Want to watch the world scream for protection from the Americans... ? Pass the National Sales Tax and repeal any income taxes.

I would agree that Communism is not right, but the higher and higher we push productivity the less the paycheck has to do with what you did!
While his example is the reduction to absurdity it is on track and quite correct in the general direction of events.
The issue for humanity is if human beings will work for the Industrialists machines until declared obsolete or if Humanity will by require the Industrialists machines to work for them.
Using the current 12.5% per annum growth in productivity from the US Economy we could see a work week reduction on a declining balance for productivity assuming no increase in the rate which is occuring at the rate of about 2% per year (Added next year 14.5%). We could see the work week reduced to 5 hours in just 17 years and see the same productivity per worker. Assuming the same fixed rate and expecting double paychecks of the current we could easily see the same number in 22 years.
Using the actual rate of increase in productivity the 5 hour same work week happens in just 10 years and a double wage 5 hour week happens in just 12 years. But if you expect to see this in your paycheck you had better reverse the math with the current policy. In about 10 years I would expect the US Economy to see real wages for the same amount of work to be about 12.5% of the current level. This matches quite well to what is happening to the value of the dollar! So INVESTORS had best wake up! This screwing labor is screwing you!
Not only is the Story Wrong but even the thinking behind the ruling is wrong.
Overtime laws were set in place first during the 1930's to reduce labor supplies in order to maintain some price levels to prevent deflation. During World War 2 the US War Department (Now DOD) ran into a problem with productivity. They had very highly motivated workers who had been starved for money and who had family in the field fighting and dying. These workers wanted to win the war all by themselves THIS WEEK!
The problem developed that they bought the ideas behind the new rules that more hours of work ment more productivity. So they wrote contracts with companies that open endedly encouraged long hours. As soon as these began productivity spiked upwards and by the end of a month it had crashed to levels in the order of 50% or less of what productivity had been during the 8 hr/day 40hr/week times. The hours were pushing upwards to 100 or more a week so the US War Department did some serious studies on productivity.
Their research showed that after about 35 to 36 hours a week of work, no additional productivity could be sustained even working much longer. In factory line situations this was even worse as defect rates rose catastrophically. Simply stated the 40 hr work week was about 4 hours too long for human functionality. By 44 hours the situation was seeing rates of production drop dramatically. By 72 hrs nonfunctionality had happened.
Studies have been done of office workers on this issue and the numbers are even worse for them on hours of sustained productivity. The reality is that OVERTIME is no good for families, industry or profits! It is a good way to get programs or devices that fail. In offices where workers salaried are paid flat rates, we often see long periods of non-productive time because of this. The few "Workaholics" we see are mostly very busy but frankly most of them actually damage the production effort in the long run. Unfortunately they look good to management who often does not look to see where the money came from.
The whole ideals set for the Bush team is an early industrial revolution set of ideas that did not work. Their "Adam Smith" "Invisible Hand" theories do not work either. Their concept is that there is a shortage of labor. This is inspite of 80 years of American History showing that we have a profoundly dangerous over supply of labor both in the USA and world wide.
The Technolological progress many of us in IT are responsible for is actually increasing the world wide efficiency of the labor by about 12% a year. This is threatening to collapse the market all together. This is the "Jobless Recovery" that is still very much a reality. By the way, don't give me the crap about 308,000 jobs in March. It is probably a fiction anyway but assuming it is true, the USA must add nearly 360,000 jobs a month for static economic conditions to be maintained due to population changes. The USA must also increase income by about 3.5% per annum for the same reasons. It currently is seeing rises in income about 1%/annum which translates into a 2.5% cut in actual wages per average person.
The Recounts were not messed up by the Supreme Court of the USA. Sorry but to the Democrats out there in the USA who are bitter [I don't like Bush either] take a chill pill. The Florida Supreme Court messed up by trying to make law and the US Supreme Court called them down.
To further educate (assuming it is possible) these people if Al Gore had not lost Arkansas or Tennessee the whole issue would not have come up. The actual decision was made in Tennessee which had a barf attack at their native son Al Gore. The reasons for this were obvious to those who traveled either of the two states (Ar or Tn). Frankly neither state got any benefits from having their people in High Office. As soon as Al and Bill left their respective states, they left them behind forever! Coming back and asking people you just stiffed to vote for you is not a good prospect for success. Cheated people tend to be a bit angry at who cheated them.
Regards Electronic Voting and cheating, well those remain serious issues. The problem is that electronic voting doesn't necessarily "work properly" just because the election went off without any evidence of misdeeds. Frankly electronic balloting eliminates the evidence of misdeeds. This is like the banks who announced that tellers quit making errors when they went to computers. The reality was that the banks just eliminated evidence of the errors by computers.
Don't forget to vote out those who think that Americans should pay for everything for everybody else and then have their market flooded with those goods/services/persons who don't pay the taxes to support this heavy load.

Start by recognizing that what the "Republican" leadership calls "Free Trade" is nothing of the sort. To be blunt what is going on is a Classical Trade War.
In a Classical Trade War a national government applies a tariff against the trade goods or services coming from one particular nation in order to deny the traders from the tariffed nation access to the market. Typically these tariffs are so high as to prohibit trade though they may be lower. Typically the Classical Trade War made to enforce foreign policy. It is also typically a hostile act by one nation against the people of another nation. The only thing not typical about the current "Free Trade" Trade War is that the tariffs are laid against US Citizens and Perminant Resident Aliens by the US Government. The Foreign policy factors are quite the same. The US Foreign policy is the destruction of the domestic US Identity. This is consistent with their policy on immigration, borders and trade.
This tariff laid by the US Government represents about a 150% markup against true labor cost on a single layer. Because the US Tax system is multiplicative it actually functionally is a markup above 1,000% (Mulitplier effect stuff here) This essentially prohibits Americans from competing either in their own market or externally in the world market.
This is actually a foreign policy goal by certain elites in Washington DC who think that Americans are "Too Rich" and by the multinationals who are offended by the power of the USA. I am not accusing here. This is their stated opinion.
The reason that many people do not see that this is a trade war is primarily related to their refusal to believe that the US Government is not working for them. In addition many foreign people simply cannot conceive of a nation actually working against its own people.
This trade war was backed into. Had the USA no border tariffs and no income taxes and it was proposing to lay the current high domestic income taxes onto the people, they would see this clearly as a move to destroy them economically. Because the Income Taxes and the US border Tariffs existed at the same time, and it was the tariffs that were dropped under the "Free Trade Agreements" (FTA's) nobody seems to have seen the reality of what was going on.
The foreign people to the USA are more than willing to take advantage of this. They don't see that the situation is more damaging to them than to the USA. Because the US Worker is "handicapped" about 3:1 against the non US workers, they easily undercut the US workers. This causes the US Worker to have to cut his cost per unit of production (Note: Not Rate per hour but rate per unit of production) The means he achives this is unimportant. This causes a decline in the price of the goods/services thus causing the foreign worker to cut. The cycle is ENDLESS. More terrifying to the foreign worker is the reality that his money is coming not from domestic economy to him, but from the USA. As this cycle continues, he destroys the very engine of his prosperity causing his own job to be lost. While this takes time, the real effects here can be seen in many industries world wide. This is the economy of a man who buys his house and sells the building materials it is composed of to pay his bills. In the end he is destroyed without a house and without income.
The problem here is that the more educated Americans become the more efficient they become at reducing their cost per unit of production. This Republican Squawk is a destraction to keep the world from seeing that he is a pirate. To be fair. The Democrats (Dumbocrats as I call them) don't seem to realize that their leaders are doing this too. Mr. Kerry's wife is one of the biggest in the world at this process. She is driving it hard and that is why they will not disclose her tax returns!

I love all of the jokes about antigravity devices. They are lovely. Curiously though not only have methods of developing antigravity been developed, they have in fact been demonstrated and are the focus of some research.
The issue of antigravity efforts seems to center around scaling the demonstrations to a practical level. A considerable amount of natural evidence exists for antigravity functions as well. Tornados for example have clearly demonstrated this function.
Essentially the issue seems to center around the definition of an orbit. A classical orbit is described by an eliptical path for a ballistic mass which does not intersect the mass at the focal area(s) of the elipse. This is usually seen as an elipse that must occur along a plane slicing through the center of mass of the central body for the orbit.
Hydrogen and Helium gasses have a nuclear spin elipse that is at or above escape velocity for the earth. They tend to allign this elipse parallel in two axis to the normal orbital elipse plane of the earth but seperated along the z axis from that plane by large distances. They achieve escape from the planet while the "orbital speed" is adequate it is all an elipse within the nuclei of the atoms.
I am sure this is all getting into your head pretty deeply but it is pretty simple. Hydrogen and Helium orbit but they do so above escape velocity and they leave the planet as a result. They demonstrate "antigravity" to the earth. They are not "Displaced" they are levitated away. They continue to leave when on displacement exists in the exospheric areas.
This has been demonstrated by taking substantial masses and spinning them at very high speed. They lose a percentage of their mass equal to the velocity of the orbit indicated by their net rotation. The problem is that to get close to escape velocity the rotation with metals and ceramic disks disintergrates the masses into fragments. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance efforts have demonstrated essentially the same thing.
The solution appears to be one which causes the nuclear mass to accelerate without disrupting the structure. The problem generally has been that the plane of the orbit must allign to the z axis of the earth. This is somewhat of a problem. It is clear that some super conductors do this when in a strong magnetic field but shortly after leaving the field they misallign and lose the effect.
A tornado being a very large natural particle accelerator in some cases has demonstrated that intact items weighing over 100 Kg can be levitated for miles upwards and sustain this for extended periods of upwards of hours. These masses tend to be ferric in type.
This is very closely tied up with electo-magnetism. There seems in this to be absolutely no evidence to support the idea of Gravity as many people believe exists. Rather it appears that "Gravity" is an electromagnetic effect corresponding to a "Pressure" in a media. But I am sure the Higher Physics types will deny this obvious reality. Well the facts may alter their arguments a bit.

Ken Lay on the other hand I could easily complain that a firing squad for him was too nice! Sometimes I don't think people get the scale of the damaged done by certain offenders. The "Bubble" that burst with Enron's collapse and many others though it was a principal was about $8 Trillion. All the gangsters and thieves in all time couldn't touch that. Enron was in the $50 Billion range. Same. The "Bubble" was so big that it exceeded the entire world income prior to 1960! It exceeded the Cold War in cost. It was really grand thieft USA. So Heres to at least jail time and a careful prosecution for Mr. Lay et. al.
On the other hand the video recording of a movie one is viewing is most likely going to do something strange. It is most likely going to stimulate sales of Videos etc. (Why the MPAA people get upset and get laws passed this way is curious to say the least.) I know that it is counter intuitive to say so, but frankly every time the Audio/Video Industry starts getting more money per sale due to new media or tighter Copy enforcement, their sales drop. Every time they let go... Sales cut loose.
Just a curious suggestion but I think that they should sell CD's of movies at the showing! I just wouldn't release their sales to Walmart etc until some time later.
This is not an invasion of privacy or a violation of "Probable Cause." It isn't even a proof of offense. It was supportive evidence which might lack some degree of accuracy but the Violation was absolutely clear.
I have no problem with us using data such as this to support response to clear violations. This man actually had comitted an offense that sans the box we still would have good reason to do what was done. With the box data there is simply more assurance that justice was served. I mean the guy was hit and killed wasn't he? That alone was enough evidence. The issue of care and etc only was valued as part of determining what to do.
Electronic evidence and such should be used this way. The problem only arises when some moron in the legal system decides that he should have the right to convict you if DATA alone arrives showing a "violation."
This is a profoundly different case in Canada than in the USA. In the USA pure evidence of a "violation" does not constitute "Probable Cause" for a warrant for arrest. In Canada where your rights come not from "God" but by permit from the state, such a "violation" alone is sufficient to cause legal action.
This is the difference between a "Stoplight" camera which gives tickets and a person seeing the running of the stoplight and seeing a problem arise. The issue is if an injury is extremely likely to happen or has happened as opposed to merely an event happening.

By its very nature a weblog blog or some other chat is going to have its text blathered all over the place and will be logged automatically by many servers. Bluntly only an IDIOT Lawyer (Liar) could possibly imagine that a conversant's message sent over the internet was not being recorded. Furthermore; it should be implied that it will be recorded. This is like going down town and buying gasoline at the local station and NOT expecting to be filmed from 6 angles.
It would take a lawyer with some intelligence (say slightly more than 3 large rocks and a brick) to defeat any claim that a party to a Weblog or blog or chatroom had not consented by appearing there to be recorded.
This claim is a non-starter if the judge actually has any judgement.
To be fair this does bring up an issue of the use of the data. (Something we in the /. community really aught to take up and help the Legal Idiots fix) Just because data may be recorded and is in public doesn't mean it really should be used outside of "Necessary Use" conditions. For Example I am sure the TV Cameras at a Gas Station have a real purpose, but if the owner started using the films and sound for (Use your Imagination) some other purposes, clear they might well be Misuse. I don't think that just because everything someone says is recorded we should use it or that we even should collate it and store it outside "Reasonable Uses." Great to hear that India is going over to TUX! Americans will be along shortly. The tipping point is starting. Americans have paid about 3 or 4 times for new machines and higher capacity machines than they ever needed because the Borg forced machines into obsolescence. TUX says buy a new machine when you need one not when the Borg says to. Most Americans find themselves buying new software that is unnecessary as well. There is no reason that software should go out of use unless it does not fit the needs. TUX allows you to fit needs with the right solution.
By Linux I was able to get a very low end processor and mother board to replace a failed machine and all I had to do was plug in the Hard drive from the old machine and clip in the old memory chips. Ready to GO! M$ wanted me to see that *#$!! Blue Screen of Death. Linux Rescued my whole data set. NOT BAD when you think of the problems of losing a machine to a hardware failure and then losing all of your data to boot. The Borg wants you to suffer that loss and TUX well he comes to the rescue!
At work I needed to do some Install Testing on a M$ platform. Linux allowed me to restore to Pristine Pre Install form in just about 10 minutes the M$ Partition! This allowed me to make sure that even working in M$ I did my best. TUX Works and the Borg... Well try an install of any of their OS in 10 minutes by their disks.

Being someone who finds crossword puzzles hoplessly boring and one who ignores them religiously, I found the story pretty good. This actually is a important step in understanding the computational network of the brain and thus design structures for computers.
Projects like the DARPA Grand Challenge and others of great importance to us all rely on the dream that we will come up with "Artificial Intelligence" some day. The failures in such projects arise from their failure to reverse engineer the already well proved natural process.
Driving a vehicle for example is a proved process with known inputs and known outputs. It is reliable and we even know the failures in the process. The problem requires the understanding that all that needs to be done is to reverse engineer the natural processes involved. The study of the brain is part of this reverse engineering process. So for those Yawining out there, I hope the light just went on!
The parent of this post has no idea what is going on or how the decision to build a WalMart is made or its effects on the community
WalMart does not build any stores. They get the local government through an Industrial development board to build the store. If the location lacks profits they simply move on leaving the store and its debt to the community. If the store makes a profit, the WalMart organization absorbs it.
WalMart gets this amazing deal because it promices increased tax receipts to the community. Usually the store is built with a Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG) which makes any rent coming back to the community for the store be a "repayment" of the grant that the Federal HUD supplied. In short the level of corruption here is very deep. The city gets money it never had. The WalMart gets a store it did not buy at rents well below any market rates and at no risk.
In this store even the machinery and shelving are purchaced under the IDB. This makes the interest on the money be very low and makes the purchace of the items be Sales Tax exempt.
So Walmart gets a store for free and you wonder why the Mom and Pop stores are dying out when they pay the taxes to support this? Free Enterprise it isn't. It is Faschism! Supporting this as Libertarian or such is pure ignorance. Walmart is using the power of the state to crush the ordinary businessman who has to pay his bills and taxes. This is not CONSUMER CHOICE! It is political choice.
The issue goes even further when you realize that Walmart extorts it's suppliers into stocking the store as "Vendors" so that they make a profit without even having to buy the inventory. They make about 5% a turn and do it 80 times a year. If Mom and Pop could get their inventory this way they might just match or beat Walmart but well lets just say they are too busy paying taxes that Walmart is not.
Walmart sets up offshore supply mechanisms to export the 400%+ ROI they are getting on somebody elses money so that under "Repatraition" under NAFTA and GATT they avoid even the Income Taxes on this massive income. They also avoid having to pay their stockholders any significant fraction of these earnings. They can set their profits at any level they want to fit the market because their real earnings for the family are many times that of what is publically reported.
This was what was at issue in Califoria recently when some people there actually said NO!
The RICO charges were due to their shaking down Medicare and Medicaid patients maxing their benefits etc largly associated with Home Health but I assume in Hospital as well. They busted any worthwhile Home Health services in the USA!
The most rational set of questions to ask start with the most imporant ones to Investors.
[1] How many dollars of dividends has your company been able to pay to their shareholders as a result of "Outsourcing?"
[2] How much has your compensation risen including all factors since you began "Outsourcing?"
[3] How many dollars of payroll did you save as a result of "Outsourcing?" Be sure to include any Executive Raises as countervailing factors.
[4] Have you had any of your Intellectual Capital Stolen as a result of "Outsourcing." This is probably the biggest and worst part but it never gets talk.
[5] What Liability does my company incurr if data handled in "Outsourced" facilities is diverted to ILLEGAL Purposes such as Identity theft?
[6] What legal devices do we have to deal with employees who misuse data we "Outsource" the processing and service of.
[7] If the data or programming serviced is "Outsourced" what does it do to National Security. This is a common problem with Defense Contractors now. Most outsourcing functionally becomes Industrial Spying for the company Hired to service in the other country.
[8] Does outsourcing this service cause the development of competition which may destroy the operation?
After the issues of Company profitablity are discussed then get down to the other issues.
[1] Are you Receiving assistance to be in business from State or Local Governments such as Industrial Development Bonds etc?
[2] Do you meet the US EEOC requirements in the employement of all of the Outsourced employees? (Age Sex etc discrimination) Most Outsourcing actually is a masquerade for some form of racism or sexism.
[3] Do you deal with the US Government directly or as a subcontractor? If so how do you expect the government to be able to pay your contract if everyone avoids paying US Taxes by "Outsourcing"?
[4] Do you expect the United States Government to protect your operations using if need be Military Forces to make sure your trade is safe? If so how do you expect to have it paid for when you avoid paying the taxes which support it by "Outsourcing?"
[5] Can you point to any nation which has benefitted by lowering wages and reducing its standard of living?
[6] Do you like trading in the lucrative market in the USA? If so how do you think that it will remain lucrative with you and others "Outsourcing."
[7] Are you as an American Incorporated Company benefiting by US Laws, Currency and infrastructure? If so how do you expect this to be maintained if you continue "Outsourcing."
Then you can come down to the issues such as the effects on Citizens generally. These include:
[1] Do you believe that United States Citizens have any rights in their own land that arise from Citizenship? If so what are they? If so how do your actions affect these rights?
[2] What value do you believe should be placed on loyalty to your fellow countrymen?
[3] How important is the USA to world safety and prosperity with regards to the cost of lives and treasure from US Taxpayers taken to pay for these actions and conditions?
The whole set of issues here address the matter indirectly but they completely attack the reasoning behind the "Outsourcing" game.
The parent here is a fool lost in the smokescreen the "Outsourcing" crowd puts out. Nurses don't earn that kind of money in the first place except in extremely high priced regions like San Francisco. Second the industry is outsourcing. You see I am an RN who left the profession because of outsourcing and the criminally bad management of the industry. I retrained as Software Engineer.
The "Shortage" of Nurses is entirely smoke and mirrors put out to justify what currently is UNLIMITED H-2 visas being issued by the BICS for NURSES. They even took 3 years as work in any medical field as equal to 1 year of College for RN. Thus you could have someone soon caring for you who knows nothing about nursing except cleaning beds. But Ignorant fools like the parent of this post will not learn until it is they themselves who get no care or are hurt. By then they will be too weak and too broke to be able to fuss.I personally watched in Nashville Tn while the heads of Columbia HCA were arrested for RICO Violations in a "No Knock Raid" on their HQ near Centennial Park. I have seen their actions first hand and know how illegal they are. The claims of Nursing Shortages and High Wages are put out by people those kind of people.

Check out the "Terminator Gene" if you are tempted to think this stuff is FUD. Look into the Gypsy Moth or Killer Bees. This isn't some computer code you can just delete. It hangs around in the environment.
The morals of Monsanto Corp the owner of the gene and the Roundup herbacide in question are beneath contempt. They were intending to release into the environment a gene which could have ended the genetic line of all plants not under their control. It took massive pressure to stop the Terminator Gene.
Seeds are not the only means for spreading these genes. Pollen has continental range. Migratory birds often carry these seeds and pollen. The range here by accident (look up fire ants) is global.
Being a "Green Revolutionary" I like modern farming practices generally. In this case the benefit of the doubt should always rest with the "Greens" they are right here.
Monsanto is suing farmers for breach of patient rights if crops are found on their farm which contain the gene talked about here. Even if the gene arrived as wind blown pollen the courts are ruling that the royalties are due. Even if the gene is only a small fraction of the crop this is enforced. This essentially gives Monsanto ownership of all crops in North America. This is the reason most of the world does not want GMO crops or foods. It violates even the most basic of common law rights to be able to reproduce ones own crops or plants.
The FUD here is entirely by Monsanto and their allies. Those who ignorantly think this is some "Free Enterprise" situation need to rethink their position.
Genetic Engineering is the single most powerful science mankind has ever handled. It has great potential for good and equally great potential to eradicate life from the planet. Handling and containing and carefully managing it should be viewed to be at least as important as the issues involved in NUCLEAR ENERGY safety.
The Behavior of Monsanto Company tells us that they are quite willing to do almost anything and do any damage without regard to the consequences to others. Such behavior should be regarded about like Witchcraft was viewed during the middle ages in Europe. It took massive outcry to stop them from the "Terminator Gene" though it could return at any moment.
Legislation needs to be passed and means to control such needs to be made manditory. The problem here is that this is a "cookbook" science requiring little in devices and little in technology. Imagine if Al Qaeda got into this kind of coding.

It would't be documented for this "definition" unless it appeared titled so in some study for a Masters or Doctorate or in the "Recognized" press of record. The facts might just alter that a bit.
Try getting a High Degree while writing something critical of your prospective future employer. Try getting your local press to write any facts even if you dig them up yourself that might criticise the local police for being money grubbers.
