    If you're managing "dozens of linux servers" then you compile it once and then use the resulting package on the rest of the servers.

    But that's the thing about CSS - it IS the simplest possible format.
    You can specify different styles for when you print something out so that it looks more reasonable.
    CSS presentation can be as glossy or as simple as you like, and you can switch between the two very simply - far more than with nasty <font> tags and such.

    If an important word in a sentence is bolded properly with plain markup tags, the author will have used <strong> or <b> and browsers without stylesheets will see it bold regardless.

    If everybody else in the world was blind and sight was unheard of, it is perfectly reasonable for them to assume that you're either making things up or insane. In fact, you should consider the possibility yourself.

    In a society where sight is a well-understood phenomenon (unlike, say, gods) people would know you to be rational.

    the Judeo-Christian faith is surprisingly ruthless in its insistence on proof (broadly considered), evidence, truth, examination, 'cordial skepticism'...and correspondingly disdainful of those who believe nonsense.

    If you had less stuff in /usr/lib you would end up with more in /usr/bin.
    The instructions have to go somewhere - in fact, if programmers didn't use libraries the binaries would be larger than the library directories, as there would be no reuse of code.

    Incidentally, have you looked into stripping your libraries?

    That's an interesting idea, actually.
    An open-source spyware project so that spyware can latch onto your system without doing harm. Spyware will be written anyhow, but if it has to exist it might as well be well written.

    You forgot to add "unless the folks with the tech are the ones who start it."
