i switched to macs a long time ago because I got tired of fixing windows, and could never seem to get linux to support what hardware i was using at the time.
however i have been using computer for a decade more than you, and reading displays while don't get a headache, means I hav eto sit in some awkwad position or a desk chair which is only good if I am using a keyboard.
I want to be able to stretch out on the couch, or my reading chair to read many things. laptops don't work and existing tablets have crappy interfaces. the iphone did change things however like the ipod before it every one else seems to forget that it is the whole thing including interface that matters.
my one and only problem with e ink is the refresh time. I know the tech and how hard it is to upgrade it to move faster, however I can't enjoy it as the refresh is annoying every time i try.
If they can figure the tech out enough to speed up the refresh time, then I am so in.
other than page refresh time, I would go to a best buy and spend 10 minutes with an e ink display. you will be surprised at how easy it is to read such displays.
plus many have variable font sizing so you can use the really large text.
the solution is to convert all signs to say both while that is being done over a period of 20 years to start with 5 year olds and only each them metric units in school. by the time they are grown up they will be used to both. 50 years of doing that. and everyone should be converted quite easily.

There is no easy way to setup his system. Sure it has more options but the average user of any OS isn't able to understand all of them. File vault and windows bit locker for all their faults and variations are easy to use encryption. and until all encryption/decryption systems are built into the OS and are easy to implenment then encryption will only be used a handful of people.
I still want a cross platform easy to use encryption setup that only requires my key to work. not for me to have to bring my own software that I may or may not be allowed to run to decrypt the drive.
a 128 gig SSD is going for $300+ on newegg. Levono doesn't pay retail however adding $150- 200 to the device means it is going to be a lot more expensive.

yea the levono idea pad is $999 with 16 gb of Flash in stead of $499 for the ipad. for the extra $500 you get a keyboard, poorer quality screen, weaker viewing angles, and zero 3rd party apps. Why don't you get all your facts before you start to speak.

MSFT just patched a bug in it's dos box emulator, that has been known for years but rarely used. and my personal favorite. a key piece of business software for us with biannual updates and.NET requirements uses win98 dll files and installers. I have to boot into safe mode in order to install this software as my AV won't let it install.

all that said I wait for version 2 of apple products, and I need more configuration in the pad I am looking for. However apple has the only mutli-touch gesture interface at the moment. No other OS uses such an interface so completely. It is why windows 7 devices will fail at attracting customers. windows 7 will be touch enabled, but not designed for touch interface. (scrolling menus is bad MSFT). and ChromeOS, like andriod will probably only offer limited support for multi-touch leading to an inconsistent interface.

exactly. i am staying away until all books have one or two DRM formats so that i can change readers over time.
I am not buying the same book three times because my reader died, and the new model doesn't support the old format.
