The UN is useless with no real authority. So theUN doesn'tdo much except provide a place for diplomacy to start.
Second the war crimes report on gaza states that Hamas was firing rockets from schools. But since Hamas isn't a country ithe UN is even more useless than normal.
Third targetting civilians is a bigger headline than Hamas using human shields out of childern.
I hate to tell you thisbut you need electricity to run radios and telephones. Now you can use awind up generator or even a self powering crystal set but electricity is still involved.
Besides do you want shock jocks to be your only news source? Wait can crystal radios do FM?
motorcycle huds are very small as they can only display in a small window. what you really want, is a transparent display that can replace the visor part of the helmet.
What would be really useful though is a wireless transmission standard so that any helmet mounted HUD unit can receive data from any nearby motorcycle. Use range limitations like bluetooth only about 2 meters though. This way helmet people can design the hardware into the helmets.
well it's been 8 years of ipod killers and none have really shown up. I figure the iphone won't have any real competition until at least 2012. and then the apocalypse will happen so it won't matter.
The trick with the ipod, and the iphone is the complete package is balanced just right. hardware and software. It can be the best hardware out there, but if he average luser can't use it then it is useless. Now admittedly I haven't played with a droid yet. or andriod 2.1 so i haven't seen how much it has improved.
simple linux users are the at the bottom of the social ladder. little influence means they have to pay higher. So MSFT has found a way to segregate and separate the general population into a class, pricing structure based who they know. If you can't see how this is bad then you need to open up a history book on class seperation through the ages and the methods used to keep a group of people down.
Also when the iphone came out it wasn't just geeks buying them. the general masses found an easy to use phone and mobile web browser and the rest was history. People who buy the "iphone killers" soon get disappointed as the interfaces aren't as useful and they grow frustrated at them over time.
Yet another attempt by MSFT to influence Linux users. By charging them triple for the same product.
I can see this going over like a lead filled ballon. While costs for goods may rise and drive up prices, prices themselves have a way of going down with volume. Of course in a market (software) that doesn't produce physical products pricing is artificial anyways.
while your correct on the ink jet printers, on the 2 60 month car loans i ahve had in my life, by the time I hit 30 months I am not only on the upside I am easily there. Now in those 30 months I usually make 2-3 extra payments which help. however modern cars not only hold their value longer, but hold together better over time. with minimal maintenance in 5 years you still have a car that can go another 5 years before it can't hold together anymore. A car that was worth it's value some 7.5 years earlier.
I agree on two out of the three points a conservative fiscal policy needs to cut taxes as well as spending. The republicans only cut taxes. It is why everytime we have a republican in office we have a recession by the time they leave.
while true, newspapers only have a handful of color images for articles. The majority of it is for ads. magazines use lots of color, most of it in ads but there are more color images with the articles.
I use some 300-500mb a month of 3G data on my iphone.
The big question I have to ask if they charge per meg. can they block advertisers So I don't have to pay for things I don't want? Usage based billing will kill the web advertising business. As 30-40% of a web sites download size is images and flash related to advertising if I am paying per meg i am not dbouleing my bill just for crap I am not interested in.
If Iran wants nuclear power then Russia is willing to sell it to them. Nice light water reactors that can't be used to enhance uraninmum. However Iran isn't satisfied with that. They want their own complete infrastructure. The kind where they can build whatever they want including bombs.
My personalhope is that there is yet another revolution in Iran before then. Many will be dead, but things stand a chanceof being better.
One up time. Growing up I had ready access to guns, amunition, gasoline, wax, and fivepounds of gun powder. I only made two bombs before i moved on to other topics. Of course iwas taught what that stuff does, and why it is dangerous.
The again myfamily is strange. At holiday get togethers instead of watching sports we watch the "science" shows and correct the obvious errors. Not just the guys but my motber and sister as well.
well for some thins tabs work great. i wish word, excel, and abi word had tabs to switch between active documents. Tabs in browsers makes lots of sense if you have more than 2 windows open at the same time.
a task bar to switch between tasks, a tab bar to switch between documents with the tasks.
Well I have tried to use linux as my desktop OS for 12 years. I even had a stretch on one computer of 4 years where it was always installed. That computer died, and I slowly switched to OSX which gave me most of what I wanted out of a *nx.
The fact is I rarely have trouble finding stable drivers for OS X and when I have to windows. Under linux I always seem to have that one piece of hardware that isn't yet supported. I personally can't wait for xrandr to support my second monitor because I can skin linux apps easier than OSX ones to use the touch screen second monitor of mine to control music and other media easily. OS X supports all the features however I can't skin iTunes to have large enough buttons to use on said screen.
I want to Learn new things like how to work my keyboard to spell tailored.
I also think somethings should vanish over time. i was just messing around on amazon the other day and pulled up my buying history for the last 11 years. i don't keep receipts that long, As a business amazon doesn't need to keep them that long either, but they are still there. everything I bought. In fact search their recommendations i found a couple of odd items. Items were recommended that shouldn't be. until l I realized that those recommendations were based off stuff i bought 10 years ago for a previous girlfriend. It is a good thing I figured it out before my current girlfriend saw it. Still amazon has a massive history. Google has another. Do you really want google to remember your settings from the night you were drunk and doing stupid things.
Simple, I want an unbiased source of information even if those biases are my own. I don't want results taiolered to me, as then I can't learn new things about subjects I would never have thought about search for relavant information.
In other words i don't want all my searches spoiled by my previous line of thinking. I am not a religious nutjob who can only believe what I already know. I don't want the fact that I am catholic to let google to stop searching islamic sites, or the fact that i am a man and never wear jewelry to prevent me from searching for a bracelet for my girlfriend.
By personalizing search you limit yourself to what you already have. how do you expect to grow with such limitations. Personalizing search is stupid. the problem is there are so many stupid people on this planet that it will be a big hit.
Linux is a desktop OS. it just has some rough edges for installation and a couple of ease of use problems. (the maximaize window bug).
I can't setup my second display under linux without waiting for a new driver patch for one of my monitors. then I have to wait and hope I can figure out how to get touch screen working on that display only. When setup it is nice. as I can pay flash videos there, and other "small screen" media content while saving my large displays for other things.
I have two monitors running right now on a mac. I don't want to update to snow leopard cause I am cheap so I downloaded ubuntu, fedora, and a handful of other distros and i couldn't get my second display to work. of them all only ubuntu even noticed the second monitor was even there but couldn't pipe a display to it.
After much searching it is a driver issue, that might be fixed in one of the next 3-4 releases of xrandr. Until then i can't use the display under linux.
That is the trick with the puritan founded USA. No one version of puritan's ideology could take hold. The fact the puritans came here fleeing other religious groups. Those that made it and eventually founded it realized that there had to be peace between them all in order to succeed. hence religious freedom.
Sometimes I think it is a shame that all those puritans moved into the censorship business. Then again without them there would we collapse like Rome did? Will We yet?
Damn straight as an american where do you think i get my cuban cigars from? 20 miles from my home is a nice smoke shop in canada.
the big trick is to not be suspicious enough to draw attention of the border guard. Of course you can always travel by boat, and use a "video terminal" to check in with the border guard. It isn't like they can detain you that way. As long as you don't move large object of materials, or more than a couple of people it is a very porous border.

yes but how much did you actually spend on said party? $100? $200.

Nope iran needs to do it themselves so that they can truly understand the cost of Freedom.
If Iran wants nuclear power then Russia is willing to sell it to them. Nice light water reactors that can't be used to enhance uraninmum. However Iran isn't satisfied with that. They want their own complete infrastructure. The kind where they can build whatever they want including bombs.

multiple mointor support is through XRandR. It also does away with the stupid xorg.conf.
So I should Plan on using stairs in my bases to prevent the invisible ninja from attacking.
besides cloaks like this are still usable if the person hiding is standing still. you move when no one is watching and let the patrols pass you by.
