Given that apple probably spent 2 years working on their own touch system for the iPhone before it was even announced you might want to check your dates.
Besides touch tech has been going back to the 1980's it just is starting to become practical. personally there are a lot of interfaces that are perfect for touch input methods.
Telemarketing call centers, restaurants are already using it, retail POS, kiosks, etc.
multi-point touch is going to be a key third input method. the mouse and keyboard are the first two.
Not to be mean but the Post Office loses and routes mail wrong on a regular basis. My Grandmother once sent me a birthday card. It arrived 3 weeks after my birthday. I figured she had forgotten since it only normally takes 2-3 days to send a regular card.
Then i looked at the date the post office stamps the envelope with when it goes out to cross off the stamp. It was dated 3 days before my birthday.
so had the card with decent handwriting and the correct address(yes I double checked) on it been sent regularly it would have arrived on my birthday. instead it took three weeks to arrive. While I highly doubt anyone opened it up to read it, the PO does misplace things on a regular basis. Enough for a paranoid person to worry about it at least. As for me it was just a card.
How do you patent something written in C that is a couple of tags and is a logical combination?
Software shouldn't be eligible for patents ever. In fact business method patents are the only thing worse. As someone has a patent on collating copies by hand.
Software should be held only on copyrights on the source code. Authors do need their rights.
yes but that is at the 10-15% efficiency that they have now. doubling the efficiency will provide a much larger return over the course of the life of the cell. all of this has only been possible in recent years as we refine your understanding of how it works.
$15? I can't get it for less than $20 and I have to change my AT&T plan to double the amount of minutes that I have and won't use just to be allowed to use the phone. My bill will double
Not every decent phone is quad band. look closely while some are, not all of them are. The more expensive ones generally are though. Expensive/= decent though.
that's just it I was taught to share. everyone is taught to share. if you don't share then you learn and teach nothing to/from anyone else.
This post is me sharing my thoughts to you, your posts are you sharing your thoughts to me.
a Musician shares their music with the world every time it is played. a director shares their movie with you every time it is viewed. with out sharing we may as well fall back into the stone age, as everything else will stop.
it doesn't work like that In the USA. the USA cell system sucks, only AT&T and t-mobile have any GSM coverage, and don't expect working 3G data access without paying out the arse for it. If you happen to go to an area that has better verizon than AT&T coverage your screwed.
Basically 1) fails 50% of the time. Not to mention that GSM in the USA is on a different set of frequencies than in Europe, so unless it is a quad band GSM your still fscked.
I love this country no one can agree on anything so nothing ever really gets done properly, and it takes 5 tires to get it right.
with wifi on and modifications done to use the irex as a web browser, battery life is about a day, usually less. without wifi on all the time your talking a couple of months depending on how much you read.
e-ink's to main features are no back lighting and they only update the page when you change the page. with refresh in the high milisecond range(ie you can watch it change)
I agree with you that dogs are better than cats. but my friends do have a cat which plays fetch more often than the dog does. The cat drags around his favorite toy all over the house. it is really quite funny.
I don't have a pet myself as i come and go all summer long so I am rarely home(IE to sleep and shower, and occasionally eat). i think it would be unfair to the animal.
you forgot the cat also climbs into the duct work and needs to extracted.
The damn cat knocked loose a loose air duct(it was only set into place), then crawled into the wall. I had to crawl into a 1 foot high crawl space to try and drag him back out. would the cat come when called? nope he stuck his head up so i could see him but no he wouldn't walk towards me until i reached in and dragged him out. 8 hours stuck in a vent and not a bit of thanks did I get.
I am fairly certain i saw a patent on collating and stapling papers so they all end up the same way and in the proper order.
yes the Patent office is broken. The only way to fix it is to ENFORCE the rules they have and to stop bending them. Under patent rules computer programs while directly not excluded mathematical equations are. all a computer program is, is a series of mathematical equations.
Actually I think it is more widespread than you might think.
How come everyone who is copying the iphone don't also copy the mutli-point touch system? the iPod crushed all competitors but if you stop and look at each one you will see all these little design mistakes that ruin, or maybe just annoy users. Why did MSFT implenment the broadcast flag and activate it when the FCC has thrown out that proposal?
Most engineers are looking at the trees and only see wood, they don't stop to look at the forest.
Adults who don't put things back though were kids who never put things back, or at least all the time.
For myself whenever I use something I clean up and put everything back at once. When I come home from a long trip I take care of everything and put it away first even if I am tired. If I don't things tend to go missing. This stems from the fact that when I traveled as a kid my parents made me unpack everything away right away.
you can have good habits, picking up after yourself constantly is one of those. now is everything in my home spic and span clean? nope the floor could use a vacuuming and I haven't dusted in over a year. but everything has ben put away.
last time I looked up those stats was in 2005 with UK gun crime up some 15% over the previous years, The London bus and subway bombings happened just 3 days before I left for the UK to speed the month there.(that was random and in no way affect the actual statistics, I mention it as it is why I looked it up to begin with)
Crimes of passion still happen, now instead of a gun s/he just stabs him with a steak knife.
your second point is valid. Then again opportunity and greed go together. They choose that path, maybe not on purpose.
If it is so Bollocks then why is the UK has camera's on ever corner that don't deter crime?,, How come there are speed camera's all over your highways? Why is the UK the first to try and do a national DNA database? if I didn't know better I would assume Queen Elizabeth has more power than we realize and is making the decisions for the prime minister. Of course that is in no way true.
your quite right but I do love my mini. while I won't be surprised if it goes the way of the dodo bird apple always have had a sub $1000 machine. Normally it is reserved for schools, and for a while it was called the eMac.
the difference is now the low end hardware is almost as good as the high end stuff so there isn't much to separate it out. Apple would also rather sell the all in one iMac to schools less hassles for everyone.
who needs a patriot act when you have camera's everywhere and anti gun laws that don't stop gun crime.
now the only two armed groups in the Uk are the military and the criminals.
At least the USA take s a long time to go to totalitarian regime. of course we will be a lot more through when it goes. Fortunately there is always the vast canadian wilderness to hide out in.
That's actually a very good analogy. This system is a temporary fix for expensive carbon composite airframes to address micro(paper cut or smaller) sized fractures which could lead to wing collapse.
Carbon fiber is far more resilient than aluminum. but it when it does break it breaks catastrophically. Minor cracks can grow. This system patches the minor cracks to begin with thus allowing the system to be patched later properly.

heck the second rewrite will happen in may 2009 so your probably right.
that or can't spell and made your out of our.

don't worry we still have MSFT, linux, apple, KDE, Gnome, emacs, and VI to argue over.
As for this article i thought i had read it before. just the summary reminded me of the article from so long ago.
because you are danish I will be nice.

does that mean when you hit 75mph your nearly lying horizontally being held in only be straps while the road rushes underneath you?
while I wouldn't mind trying it out a couple of times, a segway with a beefier battery sounds far safer.

Well they won't be able to call it ODF, but unless someone complains MSFt will anyways.
Sort of like how SCO still claims to own UNIX when the Open group owns the trademark, and Novell owns the copyrights.
That's because one of the targets is lawyer who says all games are evil.

If a game issues an update, but no one installs it does it still make a sound?

I would be more worried about the t-rays mutating into the t-virus.
I do have my shotgun, and hand to hand weapons ready though. I figure i can pick up a couple of assault rifles from fallen police officers.
