I am tempted to go download Battlestar Galactica as it's the show that I have seen some but always manage to miss.
Of course the 320x240 resolution is a pain. but then again it's H.264 which tends to scale well. My hope is that i can play it using mplayer so I can go to full screen without much of a problem. Well it's that or push it out to my tv with minimal fuss. If I have to buy quicktime pro though I am going to be annoyed.
My hope for Vista in the begining was what Apple did. Throw out the old code and start fresh with all new from the ground up. Then use their VirtualPC buy to create a wine like interface for backward compatiblity.
That way the old crap in 2-3 years would be gone, instead of another decade of those errors.
When I heard that they were dropping features and forcing a rewrite NOW, I became disappointed because it means they really didn't throw out that crap to begin with and it's all still under there. No wonder why you need a dual core processor to run Vista.
Um MSFT has gotten away with selling buggy software because they were easily upgradable. Considering how one has to upgrade windows and he fact you need third party software to install all the updates smoothly before you go online. With this MSFT is going to have to either force users to hook it up to the Net(at extra cost probably), or download and burn ISO files.
yea MSFT is going to learn the hard way selling cheap hardware is a lot different than selling cheap software.
I call bullshit. From Expereince the netware server here only needs attention whent he power goes out, or when some random piece of hardware fails. The windows machines need constant attention. And no I can't firewall them and lock them down as then the client software that runs in Dos can't get out. The only good thing is I have hardware firewalls on the outside connection.
Of all the people who commented back to me you at least put a lot of thought into your reply.
It's not just what I like or dislike. I don't care for most of the prime time shows, that doesn't mean i think they are crap. Enough people like those shows that it does make sense to produce them. And you never know what will take off so you keep trying. That makes sense.
No my complaint is focused more towards the other 200 channels that put out shows 24 hours a day just to put out a TV show. I am talking about the 30 minute done on my home Mac shows, the 30 mnute buy me ad promo's that have such a high quality product that after 3 years you never here from it again. As one other poster though said Mission to Mars sucked. Well it did, but then it was a B-rated scifi movie would you really expect more? Those are a different class.
Why is one channel running 4 hours of one show, and another channel running 2 hours of the same show? How many channels need to show west wing daily? Take a look at a complete TV listing for an entire day. Then start highlighting the same show titles in various colours. By the time your done, 1/2 the day is done playing the same 30-40 shows on your 300 odd channels. And that isn't even counting the HD versions of those said same channels.
The problem isn't linux or it's developers. It's idiots that make things like winmodems, applemodems(yep them too), and wireless cards with 90% of the tech in software, when it can be done faster and more effiecently in hardware.
Software is great for somethings but it isn't always the answer. And you can't tell me it's so you can upgrade just the software part for a new standard. I have only seen that work once. That was for a 36.6 modem to be firmware upgraded to 56k. It doesn't work for the bulk of what they use it for.
Well you could, of course if anyone has been paying attention to the linux kernel, such major changes are being implented directly into the 2.6 kernel.
That's why there is no 2.7 such changes are being pushed into 2.6
It's not perjury if at the time it was true. And trying to pull such a stunt isn't a good way to impress the judges. It only shows the incompetence of your lawyers.
Being chained to a desk isn't nessacary anymore. laptop, wireless connection and your golden.
Of course the question is why? I stopped watching the morning news when i realized I watched it more for staring at the news reporters and the anchors, than for content.
Apparently you didn't read the earlier article about the SBC exec. You should go read it. He is pissed about VOIP and other such things because it hurts his sense of money.
True not taking a doctor with you would leave more room for others, but would you really go on an 18 month journey without a doctor? Why not take the surgeon along who has can not only heal but deal with other biological studies.(Plants, human behavior, etc)
Um a setup fee includes someone physically coming to your house and hooking things up. When you pay for WOW not only do you have to go get it(or pay shipping charges) you have to spend time to install it(big surprise), and then you have to pay again for the privilege to continue to play. When the bills run high one month and you stop paying them you lose everything you worked and paid for. Now you must begin again.
Subscription software has failed once and no one noticed(the old unixes) It will fail again. Of course everyone will be shocked by it failing.
You forgot the best part. They can't drink until they are 21 but can die for their country when they are 18.
Um you have heard of HD-DVD and Blue Ray right?
they are working on that as you speak. It just won't be ready for mass market for another decade.
Unless of course they mislabeled your compass. What if it's the compass that is backwards. Damn that means a conspiracy going back thousands of years.
It's well known that compasses are actually labeled backwards.

Wait you can see your mouse?
Mine get's put into the keyboard drawer, and with touch typing I barely even look at the keyboard and mouse , That's what the screen is for.
Besides That's why my email notifier makes a noise, and my IM client reads IM's to me. So I don't have to pay attention to just one sreen at a time.

Yankee Group
Garter,
Enderle consulting,
Do any of these names ring a bell? all but the last on claims to be unbaised but their reports can be shown in minutes to us predetermined Data.
So what was that about being neutral again? Which group is making more money than you do every minute?
I agree with the point on changing but
You don't need to throw out XP to useOpen Office, or even Win 2k. Heck Firefox still supports Win98.
My only complaints about Open Office is OS X support is some what lacking. Of course Abi-word does nice support for word processing.

If content costs money, then why do media companys publish so much bullsh!t content?
If they cut some 60% of the crap that is out there, they could save billions.
Yes but that doesn't mean that they shower and brush their teeth daily.
Of course I keep a toothbrush and toothpaste at work just to make sure I remember to brush daily.
Then I apologize a bit. Of course I completely agree. I just recieved a patent on the following story line.
It was a dark and stormy night.
Charles shultz is gonna owe me millions just by himself.

Yep just look at windows. How many years did it take MSFT to force hardware manufactors to create stable drivers? And you want to repeat that again!
Great Idea.
Well you could, of course if anyone has been paying attention to the linux kernel, such major changes are being implented directly into the 2.6 kernel.

Hence why I just got my passport and have ten years before I have to worry about getting a new one.
Yea me.
Of course Vista will ship in or by 2007. Of course I am waiting for 2009's Vista SE The one with a half working implentation of WinFS.
JFS, RCU, NUMA, aren't "unix" in anyway shape or form are they Unix or Unix technology.
JFS was developed for OS/2 warp. Then ported to AIX and later Linux.
RCU & NUMA though developed intially AIX have been ported to other OS's. The concepts have enhanced SMP operations.
Concepts designed and developed by IBM. Concepts that don't require UNIX to work or any Unix code.
So once again Where's the Beef?
Being chained to a desk isn't nessacary anymore. laptop, wireless connection and your golden.
