    no isp in AU will do this, OR they will sign a loose deal and never have the balls to enforce it. why you say? because i can promise massive litigation against them if they do, and no business would ever willing take the burnden of potential litigation that another business has previously been dealing with. not to mention all the angry support calls and extra work it will cause them. it's already been established that isp's can't be sued for their users downloading music, so why the fuck would any of them want to do aria's job for them? my bet is there's no isp's seriously considering this and it's yet more bullshit from the music industry.

    right on. i make a decent income, you wouldn't class me as "rich" but i work long hard hours and sacrifice family time and personal time to try make a contribution to society and to increase my wealth and the well being of those around me. why the fuck should some asshole have the right to avoid paying what i have to pay just because he's doing business online?

    what a stupid thing to claim, you can never claim your new redesign will completely satisfy all of peoples requirments, since requirments change. so far the current internet technology has done a brillant job of adapting to changing needs. about the only common protocol i could see that needs a revamp is smtp, which is a layer removed from what they are talking about anyway.

    this fucking REEKS of big money and government wanting to control people on the internet even more, it bug the hell out of them that we have the freedom we do on there.

    one thing i'd like to point out - these movies aren't even dvd quality. not sure what the point of that is? seriously if people ripping captures from hd tv can manage dvd quality, you'd think apple with all it's resources could do better.

    oh and wake up and smell the codecs - h264 can do dvd quality at 200megs per hour, you can't tell me peopel with adsl wouldn't be able to download that.

    why is it that when ever MS EOL's a product there's mass outrage and critisism from OSS supporters, touting it as yet another reason OSS is better, yet the same people will try defend the VERY short EOL on OSS products sighting man power issues? pot calling the kettle black considering ms would have been supporting win XP for 7 years once this dead line comes up, compared to the pathetic 1 - 2 years support most OSS projects offer. MS dispite being a huge corperation do have a limit to the man power they can expend on a product, just like a OSS project. i would submit to all you critics that you applude MS for supporting it's OS's as long as they do, they could certainly be much more aggresive in EOl'ing their software if they choose to.

    anytime you purchase a dvd they are giving you the dvd - in exchange for money. dude, seriously just give up and admit your wrong, and that you jumped the gun. he made no suggestion of piracy at all, just that he was voting for a better format with his wallet - and i agree with him and i suspect most other people do to.

    the rather obviously answer to this, is his model is wrong. easy thing to do given all the factors invovled and the heavy pressure from certain groups to conform with the cult of global warming. frankly a few graphs shows nothing. HOW he arrived at those graphs is what matters.

    i used debian on a few projects... projects where any kind of features, performance or even remotely up to date software is not required. the reason debian is falling apart is the politics and fucking attitude people get when entering the project. if you ask why a port is 3 years out of date, instead of getting a mature response like " no one there to maintain it" or " it breaks compatability with feature X we are working on it"... you get little smartarse comments about how your welcome to update it yourself. frankly after my experiences with debian, that project can fuck off and die, and i'll dance a happy little jig over it's grave.
