That very statement attempts to strip people of their copyright. never pass in court, not in a million years. unless you have signed a contract with party A, they cannot claim any entitlment to your work. in fact i'm pretty sure you could sue the pants off them if they collected moneys for playing your work without your consent. it's called piracy, remmeber?
15kg's ? wtf that's a LOT. modern weapons are about 1/2 that (excluding ammo) i'm assuming they aren't including the weight of the power source in that. the last thing the modern solider needs, is MORE weight to carry.
hah, your giving most thieves WAY too much credit there pal. MOST thefts are thefts of oppertunity. scumbag X see's an open window and jumps in to see what he can steal. the most they will usually do is smash a window if they can see something worth the risk of the noise.
My best mates a fed and even he has never known anyone to be that determined as to cut the power to a home to break in. you MIGHT need to worry about it if you house something obviously vaulable.
mag casrds are your answer. you can remotely program the cards and there's no problem with opening the door if the network goes down at the site. they are also dirt cheap and can be set to expire so it doesn't matter if the tech loses it. video survillance is also a good idea.
basic chemistry dictates that life will require water and carbon. chemistry works exactly the same everywhere. at a given temp and pressure things work the same no matter where they are. this means that water is going to be the only solvent what will be able to transport elements around a life forms body. life is going to require carbon to create the complex structures needed to have a body. so unless you are looking in some upside down , things fall up type of universe, then life IS going to be quite similar to whats on earth.
other chemicals mentioned simply can't fill the most basic needs that a life form would have - such as stability and transportation.
"Choice isn't always good, and the open source community sometimes offers far too many ways to skin the same cat, choices that are born more out of pride, ego, or stubbornness than a genuine need for two different paths"
i'd say thats about spot on. when presented with more then 2 choices most people um and err for ages then just randomly pick an option based on what colour the like, or which has the biggest logo. and i would definately agree that many OSS projects are forked out of ego clashes.
what nonsense, i can't say something even if it's true because it might distress the other party? what a fucking crock of shit. next time a cop pulls me over and tells me he is giving me a ticket i'll sue him for the distress he caused me telling me i was getting fined. your logic, not mine.
encrypt the filesystem, claim the drive is cactus and thats the reason it won't read. anyone have thoughts on this? would it be a fesible defence and is there a way to pull it off on a technical level. i'm guessing encrypted filesystems identify themselfs, would it be possible to hide the fact it's encrypted?
people always get sucked in by the idea of free things, but in the case of government run comms, you are just now seeing the price y ou pay, and realising it's not free. governments on all levels LOVE the idea of controlling anything. never forget that.
was the macbook actually running any services that were listening on the network? if so what where they. it easy to claim security when all your ports are closed up. but it also means your useless, like a computer in a box.
he wouldn't do it if he didn't think he would be sucessful? yeah right... his other option is to sit back and watch his steadily dwindling market share. last ditch effort is what this is
you don't get it at all do you? let me break it down some more. company A and company B secretly agree to quote a lot more then what they would normally quote, and which ever one of them wins the contract sub contracts the REAL price out to the other, with the winner skimming the fat off the top of the "arranged" price and the loser getting the work(which would still be a very healthy profit). everyone wins - except the tax payer which gets screwed with artifical prices.

nail on the head right there.
traditionally, MS has been able to crush all commers buy copying their software, intergrating it with the OS and hampering efforts of other companys from doing the same.
google makes them nash they teeth with this because web advertising it's tied to the OS at all, and will display and be clicked on in all but the most blatantly anti competitive moves. they wouldn't be game to say script IE so that you can't visit google.com.
there's a large difference here. google, does not rely on any technological or under the counter pressuring to maintain it's dominance. there's nothing stopping ms from setting up a better ad service. MS relied for years on bullying OEM's into only selling windows, and on IE being mangled into the OS to push out competitors.

yes right because your going to have the follow through to double check those names.
right, because if someone tried to take a key off me i wouldn't jump across the counter and pop then right in the nose.

your just poo pooing other peoples assumptions while making your own in the same breath.

nuclear is clean and cheap, if people let it be. too bad the media do a great job of whipping up bullshit the moment anyone says radiation.

to take an existing technology that worked perfectly well, and release it's own propritary version which is complicated and no one wants or needs.

mob wisdom... how can it fail?
