    people are TERRIBLE witnesses to events. ask 2 people what they thought happened and you will get 2 different stories. just look at how crap the mainsteam media is at reporting on science subjects, and your telling me you want to use this as a data feed to determine the state of the planet? the red light for "everything is fucked" will be flashing constantly no matter what because no one ever writes stories about stuff that's fine.

    billing them is a terrible idea, they tried that here in oz and moron's ended up with $400 internet bills and went crying to the news papers about it.

    throttling is a perfectly sane way to deal with people exceeding the terms of their service - they still have basic internet use and don't get a large bill at the end of the month.

    it's not a failing of capitalism at all, if anything it's them failing at capitalism - they don't understand what their skills are worth, and are being punished by the market for it.

    our monopoly telco which was previously government owned, telstra, would LOVE to block VOIP. they aren't in the VOIP business yet, they are waiting for everyone to invest heavily in it then they will drop conventional landline calls to the same level, decimating the competition.

    it's not REAL violence, that's the problem with your statement. a few pixels exploding in doom is nothing like a real gun shot, it's like comparing the violence in a paper cut to someone being hacked apart and their blood splattering you.

    you know what else, a recent study showed tubby nerds lived longer than athletic types, so a certain amount of sedentary life style isn't bad for you. for one our immune systems are stronger because exercise weakens it, we don't get the sporting injuries, we don't get all the sun exposure either.

    maybe not that long, but certainly it's nothing more than an expensive toy. while i believe in science for science's sake, they must have some kind of direction they are taking this? because it's not going to be energy production, fusion has been 10 years off for the last 40 years.

    5 years, i might also add is greater than the cut off most business ventures view as the break even point. usually a proposal needs to pay back and less than 24 months to be considered. that means 3 years of totally milking your invention, should should be plenty. it will also force companies to creat more because they can't just sit back and milk one innovation forever.

    no, but i can walk 25 miles in a day on a single plate of food without even having to go to extemes like burning muscle. pound for pound we convert food into energy far more efficently than any engine.
