it's already happening the developing world. company X seeks unreasonable patent claim, country Y simply says fuck you.
patents were devised as a way to protect inventors and allow them to make a return on their idea's in exchange for releasing that device into the public domain after a reasonible amount of time (similar to copyright).
the problem is that right now -anything- is being considered a bloody invention. maybe some kind of system where all the patents logded once a year get assessed in competition with each other, and only the top 1000 best idea's get patent protection or something. that way there is no incentive to try flood the system with crappy obivous patent ideas.
last time i checked the linux version of flash sucked hard, and youtube was but a dream?
the key problem i'm getting at here is even after all the claims, the linux desktop is still yet to work properly with he most common functions users want.
Oh don't worry telstra are looking across the pond and want what you guys have.
our own parasites just turned on adsl2 (only have being pushed over the edge by 3rd parties installing their own dslams) but only did with the hollow threat that they wouldn't if they were forced to open it up to 3rd parties.
telstra's level of stupidity is easily approching your own bell's, with them "threatening" to not bid on a government tender for building a FTTN network if they have to allow open access. like anyone cares if those fucktarts bid on it or not, i believe they are trying to create the impression that no one else can build a network.
fraud profits from dumb/greedy people. sure a few people get scammed on ebay etc, but the big numbers in this come from really stupid people who fall hook line and sinker for 419 scams and the like.
i'm sorry did you miss the blindingly obvious part where it says "under limited circumstances"?
This licensing is aimed at DJ's copying stuff off their ipods and using it for PUBLIC PERFORMANCES. if this was just making backups of stuff they already had a license for to play publicly or for personal use, then you might actually have a point.
even telling people to break the law shouldn't be illegal though, because some laws are unjust and NEED to be challenged, and that kind of freedom to challenge authority needs to be encouraged.

GNU/Linux? RMS is that you???
but seriously, what you are really saying there is your family doesn't use youtube, ipods and that your kids don't play any computer games.
The end game to all this will be copyright being abolished due to it being rendered unworkable.
in short i'd drop any isp that did this
when did stallman become an expert on everything?

my information isn't a publicly traded entity.
I highly doubt it.
I just knew it was those evil corporations all along. even when it was the criminals, i just KNEW somehow it was the corporations....

fuck them i wish these kinds of things were illegal, i've never had a ticket for anything in 20 years of drving, and do you know why????
because i don't drive like a fucking moron that's why.
like it's going to stop anyone drinking it anyway...

fair use and consumer law does not apply.
thats right, nothing, your the lame one.
it's even worse because an IP doesn't mean you even have the computer.
so fucking what, EVERYTHING is an arms race if you try and look at 2 opposing agenda.
but it is personal, and it's unwanted.
LOL are these those protestors for hire types? bunch of scum need a good dose of pepper spray and a baton to the back of the legs.
frankly i grow tired of being snooped on
please, just shut the fuck up.
Sorry i have already patented this idea, and it's a $10,000 license fee to use the term.
