  1. Personal information is for friends, not sales on Mozilla Launches a Petition Asking Facebook To Do More For User Privacy (betanews.com) · · Score: 2

Problem with Facebook is we post a new job or school or city because we want friends to know how we are doing. It's not for Facebook to take that information and sell it to anyone looking for someone going to a specific school or job. Facebook even constantly asks "where do you work? Connect with coworkers on Facebook" as if you're missing out if you don't tell Facebook where you work. Most people don't realize every word you write online is for sale. It's wrong that Facebook does it, there should be an opt out, but then advertisers wouldn't pay as much and Facebook would lose money.

  2. Did the summary answer the title's question? "I had given Thorne a subscription to Penthouse, much to his wife's disgust,' a smiling Hawking says in the film."

  3. You are missing a key component - all these mapping systems use traffic data that is compiled by departments of transportation, as well as sometimes crowdsource information from the users of the app.

Actually those two are backwards, at least according to what I've read about Waze. They claim they primarily use user data to monitor vehicle speed and when it sees users slowing down in a particular area it assumes there is traffic and reroutes other users around the traffic. Also allows users to enter stopped vehicles and even police speed traps which has been pretty accurate in my experience.

  4. Exactly. This is old news and this guy basically just discovered the wheel again. The whole reason people are using these back routes is because the main routes are crowed so now city planners can use the apps to see the congestion and make improvements. Don't blame the router for rerouting traffic, install better routes.

Quick search revealed at least a dozen companies that offer phishing tests to employees, to send fake phishing emails to them to see if they open and click on links. If management isn't using these tools when so many are available they're as much responsible as if they chose not to use virus scanners or network firewalls. And why doesn't Google, Microsoft and the other email providers do more by sending fake phishing emails out to educate users more? All it takes is a few fake phishing emails to educate users. First time is 20% entering passwords, second might be 10%, by the time you get to fifth fake email you're probably at less than 1% and only a few percentage higher even opening the email.
