1. Use a location which a vocal group will strenuously object to in your latest game. 2. Wait for someone to notice (might need to tip them off). 3. Get loads of free publicity. 4. Profit!
Much as we all miss omgponies, what is the rational about banning 'dupe'?
It is hardly a news flash that Slashdot does dupe stories, surly the editors are not so far up the Nile that they don't realise this. Taging dupes would seem to be a good way of dealing with this.
Think you mean Unreal 3. AFAIK the only release is the xBox360 only Gears of War which obviously doesn't help; UT3 should be about the same release dates as BioShock.
Unreal 3 supports DirectX 10, so turning everything up to 11 is likely to max out any current box. More optimistically the engine also supports Linux (any word on BioShock?) and is likely to still give great graphics on more modest hardware.
The point is which is the 'good algorithm'? The is no way of proving the NSA havn't found a weekeness in any given scheam. Buy using three diffrent 'good algorithms' you are bettering your odds.
Without writing an easy here I really do think that this is one of the key ways to dramatically increase OSS desktop presence.
However, the problem is not the package manager, windows installer packages are good, or there are already ports of some of the more popular OSS package managers. The problem is managing the packages.
You are suggesting establishing a 'distribution', the fact that it is based on the Windows kernel isn't going to make this easier to maintain then a Linux kernel based distribution.
Distributions are social engendering problems not a coding exorcise.
If you want to do some useful code promoting OSS on windows then fix the CYGWIN installer into something less ungainly.
If you are serious about starting a new distribution and recruiting the large community it would need to sustain itself. You should look at Gentoo. I am not trying to start a distro/package manager flameware, but it would have some clear technical advantages:
It already supports multiple kernels (Linux, BSD, Darwin) (at least to some extent).
The simple ebuilds should already compile on any OS.
It partly solves the 'chicken and egg' problem by providing you users a starting point for packages you have not full ported yet. (For the first few years at least your developer base and user base will be the same thing anyway).
It's binary package system allows quick and easy installs of stable packages comparable to any other packaging system.
Look at consoles, they have locked software and built in hardware security and you can still cheat!
For some people the game is beating the anti-cheating software not playing the original game and they will always beat any system.
It would be fairly easy to create a physical robot aim-bot (either video camera and mechanical fingers, or more likely hard-wired into the SVGA+PS2 ports).
Anything short of physical torments on stock machines is going to allow aim-bots, and even then you have drugs, intimidation, and match fixing to contend with.
It can be broken, but considering the power of early GSM handsets this was quite an effective system. One of the major factors driving G2 (digital) phones was the easy of eavesdropping on the old analogue G1 network.
IMAX 3D is based on polarised light exactly the same as ReadID. It causes a headache because the false 3D effect causes your eyes to focus at the wrong distance.
It is a bit of a stretch that kerning is news. But at least it is funny, because Wired's web font (Verdana) IS kerned at least for me (Gentoo).
Though a better example is something like 'Trebuchet MS' which is heavily kerned. (which in another irony./ uses where it specifies a font (why is the subject entry box font specified when the comment entry box is simply the browser default?))
Sorry to labour the point but this is not correct.
The governor or whomever can NOT bar some on from public office on a whim. The governor can only bar someone based on a section of the constitution or a law that gives them a specific reason.
This section of the consitution makes it impossible to write a law barring non-atheists from office - it does NOT imply that the already is a law barring atheists from office - just that one could theoretically be written.
In fact their are already plenty of federal laws that make writing a law barring atheists from office illegal so this loop-hole is closed anyway.
Everyone has to occasionally sort a mail by hand. With IMAP if I move a mail into a folder on one device it moves on all the other devices, with POP3 I have to move it on each device.
With IMAP I can see which mail I have already read from any device, this sounds simple, but for most people is very useful.
I can see that using less storage on the server could be vital. But for most people storing a mail once on the server is going be better then storing a copy on every client. I know my mail server has considerably more space then some of my clients (i.e. phone).
If I was worried about the privacy of my mail archive I would encrypt it, wherever it was stored.
This led to the total commercial dominance of 1000BASE-T because it will run over any good Cat-5 (or 5e or 6). However as they are both Gigabit Ethernet it lead to the confusion above.
10000BASE-T does require Cat-6 (or 6a, or 7) cables and so the point of eventual redundancy will always be valid.
You will probably get more future proofing with fiber - but as always staining on the bleeding edge will bleed you dry.
My last two Nokia phones could play AAC files as easly as as MP3. I would guess this is common as 3GP files can be AAC anyway (AMR is only realy passable for voice).
I am also working on a licence that allows me to distribute commecial video games for fee.
Do we really think that Sony considers Lemmings abandonware?
- cool work though.
Google could spend millions/billions on amicus filling to defend YouTube, but as soon as it looked like they might win the media companies would cut a deal with YouTube and no legal precedent would be established.
By owning YouTube the can know at least know they might win.

If I am facing trail it makes no odds (I am british http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regulation_of_Investi gatory_Powers_Act_2000 ).
If I am going to be locked up for not reviling my key, I am going to make dam sure they don't get to break it, even behind closed doors.

Sun wz2100 - and considering it can't even run its fans properly without a BIOS patch this may have been a good think

It would take more than a man falling to earth to save them at this point.

Didn't mean to start a flame war.

This does not allow you to mark mail as read accross devices, or sort it into folders. What is the advantage?
You don't need to be technical to recognise usability. Non-technical users are probably the core market of desktop readers.
Also I would hope the slashdot crowd use IMAP/SMTP, POP3 is terribly limited if you want to read your mail from more then one device.
Cat-6 exists and is required for 1000BASE-TX.

If 8086 was a horse, then x86_64 would have sixteen legs and be capable of mach 3.

No they won't, the cheep Vista licences arn't allowed to run in Parallels. MS are evil not stupid.
- had to be said.
Though it is actually a real question - if they are spending that much creating a personalised experience, Aero Glass is going to be a bit 'common'.
I would want all my icons in cornflower-blue.
I am also working on a licence that allows me to distribute commecial video games for fee. Do we really think that Sony considers Lemmings abandonware? - cool work though.
And I claim to be God!
I get a 1Mhz 8086 on a AMD64 X2 4400+.
Not if you have a HP that doesn't understand PCL. Our Laser can dump 100% black pages at 20ppm. About 20p a page or £4/min.
