Frankly I only had 3 or 4 teachers whom I'd consider worth paying for what they taught. And in retrospect, I recall that one of them did it almost pro-bono for a college, she was actually a COMPUTER SCIENTIST, and taught only so she could get credentials to put on her resume. She made her money designing targetting systems for missiles. Interesting? I doubt it. Yet another individual I came to respect because she didn't suck on the government tit. She actually PRODUCED, and I came out of her class with more knowledge than at most of the bigger colleges. Course I took her classes while I was mostly still in high school and out of Advanced Placement (Honors) classes to take, but that's aside from the main point. She was a capitalist, held that OSS is a good idea for those who not only consume it but also contribute to it, but that people should also be able to procure the things they want with the things they know how to do.
Ahhh, but therein lies the problem, lack of proper education, and yet we keep paying teachers more, even though all they do is teach obedience in schools, and listening to authority, but they don't teach proper survival skills, neither in the wild nor in the concrete jungles that we call "modern society."
That leads me to believe that perhaps the problem isn't having watchdogs to "protect us from rampant commercialism" but perhaps we should have the ability to judge for ourselves what we NEED and what we WANT and how best to achieve it... but that would involve freedom, liberty and less control by others over our lives.
Not likely to happen anytime soon if the majority has its say.
Nah I wasn't trolling, but I find that the monkey would survive better than a large chunk of the populace of "modern" countries if that economy ground to a halt. 1929 and the forced collapse come to mind. Soviet Russia's engineered famines come to mind. China's depopulation/"great leap forward" come to mind. Etc. That monkey can eat most things. Vast swathes of humans don't even realize to boil their water before they drink it if the water treatment plants go down. How fast would those people die after quaffing a good helping of tainted water, or food, or perhaps the wrong food, or perhaps not finding any more canned food and not knowing where to go to find edibles?
Don't forget that we are more civilized and thus able to mitigate our environs, but that involves those of us who gathered the knowledge and tools to do so. The vast majority expect someone else to keep them alive, you know, in case even that big Homeland Security boogeyman occurs, a "terrorist threat" or whatnot. Say they shut down power, or the economy... for extended periods of time, say the governments of the world are NOT complicit, and go bankrupt or fall apart trying to equalize the damage among those who produced and stocked up and those who expected someone else to do it for them.
Yeah sure, back country america would survive and even thrive, and the third world would probably survive about as well as they do today, always expecting their rulers to save them and being butchered by them (Africa anyone?) The problem is not just overpopulation, the problem is breeding unviable offspring and then not raising them as good humans should be. With all of the skills to survive AND thrive. Those two require skill as much as they could be taken care of by government redistribution of food and wealth programs. (Eventually Atlas DOES Shrug and there is naught left to confiscate and redistribute. This happened in Russia when it was left with no new territories to conquer and rob dry and the Communist Bloc of Europe when their previously stocked up or exploitable resources ran out... there was nothing left to distribute, so revolutions were permitted to occur so the productive men and women would resurface and grow more wealth for the collectivists to seize and redistribute again. Putin is on his way to accomplishing it again... and the people LOVE him for it.)
I don't believe in FORCED eugenics or sly eugenics (poisoning food or water with metals industry byproducts and marketing it as "dental carie protection") but I do believe in NATURAL eugenics.
Such as:
If you're stupid enough to build your home in a flood plain, NOBODY (save your insurance company if your resources afford it) should HAVE TO (key words) step in and save your ass or reimburse you for building on a flood plain. The same should be done with any other stupid activity. If you prove you're too stupid to survive, you should be treated as such and left to your devices.
The gene pool should not be scrubbed forcefully, that's murder or genocide and it should not be up to a human authority to tell who is going to live and who won't. We should simply let stupidity REMOVE ITSELF from the gene pool, without help and without a safety net that is created by robbing those who actually produced and took precautions (savings, stocking pantry, etc) so they wouldn't NEED a safety net created by robbing others.
Generally you're supposed to pick a worthy mate, not have it picked for you, (some of the societal constructs have been permitted by their unwitting members to do just that, however) and then raise viable babies. Hard to do that, really, when you've never even met the woman and given her the combination to your Swiss bank account. As far as I'm concerned, that's suicidal stupidity. Not permitting such members of society to LEARN from their mistakes is criminal. And cushioning their fall by forcing them to partake of some perceived "safety net" is merely encouraging stupid behavior.
Nobody pets their dog for biting their son or daughter, so why are we "petting" these fools (not just the chatbot biters, but fools in general) by providing them with safety nets that others pay for? These people should be allowed to suffer for their stupidity and learn from it. If it burns, and you feel it, you don't stick your hand in the oven again... simple as that.
Quick question. If this does come to pass by 2050 instead of consistently selling vapor ware. Is anyone aware that there's a game that predicts this stuff in a cute / liquid format? I believe you may have heard of it. Deus Ex. Very neat story that ties in all this lovely stuff with another lovely story... that of the so called "NWO", but it doesn't go by that name, in that world, the United Nations Anti Terrorist COalition has declared war on any group that doesn't follow orders. The USA has been split by a civil war, China had conquered Hong Kong and let it be financially and it became the New Mecca for property owners (America was lost by then, as its government almost completely went totalitarian and stopped hiding it.) And lets see, when Deus Ex came out, Hong Kong was still an independent territory, now it belongs to China and China predictably did EXACTLY what was predicted in the game. Left its commerce alone. Hong Kong may not be a FREE market but its the closest thing in the whole world. The USA has continued its drift into fascist socialism, and so has Canada. The midwestern states are starting to get riled up over the abuses of rights and the proposed Trans Texas Corridor (along with the Canada-Mexico Corridor), collectively known as the so called "Nafta Super Highway" (the amazing part is that its being called a hoax on TV, and yet the government has a "working group" on it, and has had it since before 2005 when the documents to make it official were signed at the site of a previous attrocity. Waco, Texas. All very amazing, and all very predictable, I mean damn, it was predicted accurately by a game company based where? TEXAS... Ion Storm put out Deus Ex, and it was probably the only GOOD game Ion Storm ever made (since Daikatana was the biggest failure they ever made and it was their much touted flagship product).
As for Barium - I seem to recall that barium is pretty nasty stuff... especially concentrated and absorbed by the body, but as found in the atmosphere and common in nature all over the world it is too little to cause harm (and yes they give you a nice tall glass of it solved in a liquid medium before a CAT scan), and it usually gives you the runs an hour later, or is that rather "the squirts"? The interesting thing to note is that barium is considered a dangerous (the word used is heavy, but it is inappropriate as I'm told) metal by some, and a nasty one like our usual suspects lead, uranium, plutonium, etc. When the issue of gun cartridge primers (those little metal dots on the back of centerfire pistol and rifle cartridges that look different than the rest of the brass or steel cartridge) came up as containing a mixture of lead (supposedly bad), barium (supposedly bad), and several other substances keeping them inert until the pin strikes the primer and the flame ignites, the issue was raised by the FBI (why not the EPA I will never know) as to the dangers of primers emitting 7.9 mg of lead into the atmosphere on average per shot. The feds wanted "low lead" primers and got them from CCI. Of course they're insanely expensive and the tax payer pays for the feds to have cleaner methods of murdering innocents and thugging on the harmless. Nothing new. Police state doing its thing, policed sheep doing their thing. I'm merely stating the obvious, move along!
My point is proven yet again, that the vast majority of humanity lacks the simple survival skills that would make us worthy of propagating and passing on our genes... evolving and surviving, if you would. To me this simply proves that the vast majority, male or female, wholly obedient and completely brainwashed to ONLY see what is in front of them, is truly the greatest curse of mankind. Its ready obedience, nay not obedience, but plain WORSHIP of authority. Authoritarianism has been a curse, and every time its signs show, nobody cares to take note. The masses get what they deserve for not thinking for themselves. In this situation, whoever gets duped, IMHO, gets their JUST DESERTS!!
Actually the system that was setup in 1791 guarantees them raises so long as they don't vote against said raise.
I agree with what you have to say with one exception. Press opposition to a candidate who says all the right things might have been engineered. They knew the man would get out on the net. This was tested when Howard Dean was "going to run for prez" and raised 2 million bucks online in about a week (or 2 days or whatever it was). Then he blew a gasket on public media and had to let Kerry take over. It has been tested before, so I have my doubts. If I were to still register and vote, I'd vote for Ron Paul, but, frankly, I have my supreme doubts that 400 Ron Pauls in Congress and Executive and Supreme Court would be able to fix this clusterfuck that we have today.
The whole world is screwed up, and we cannot fix it by further centralizing this mess. DECENTRALIZING might work, especially returning the authority to each individual unto himself insofar as he doesn't trespass upon others via force or fraud. As simple as that sounds, I can guarantee a hundred authoritarians (authority worshippers) will tell me how more laws than just that are required. Of course they are, these "useful idiots" require that every possible use of fraud and force be spelled out, not because they plan to obey the laws, but because they really need them enumerated so they can know how to defraud others or what methods of force may be employed in oppressing others.
Then the government is too big if they need unelected (and thus not responsible to the electorate) employees.
This is the problem that has been around forever. Those employees owe their loyalty to those signing their checks, and those signing their checks are NOT the electorate... it is the rulers. The rulers redistribute the wealth they confiscate through taxation. Thus it is the RULERS who command the loyalty of the army and of the police arms. This has ALWAYS been the case, and the system has YET to change. This has been the case since the first thug band got big enough to call itself "ruler of all their leader could see"... and thus a "government".
Actually I think, and I'm not alone on this... that if Ron Paul wins, he'll basically just drag everyone back into the system for awhile longer, and lull them into complacency until the system (cage) built around them will be unbreakable by any means available. If Ron Paul does NOT win, a lot of conservatives (the small government folks, not the tyrannokrats of today) will probably blow a gasket and start a revolution.
If I get wind of it coming down, I'm getting on my boat and shoving off long before the bullets fly where I live. I plan to be living overseas at the time, because the end result will either be a total fascism (government commits total biochemical genocide of the "affected regions", which might explain why George Bush reopened the biochemical warfare laboratories in Maryland a few years back) or a total religious theocracy after the libertarians are killed off and the "conservatives" who didn't fight come out of the woodwork to reestablish their previous order.
Violent revolution never solves anything, because it is merely a REVOLT, not a revolution (change of existing order), just like it didn't solve anything in 1776. Sure, we got a fantastic form of free people's government a decentralized federation governed by the loose and hard argued Articles of Confederation. THAT was a truly free people's government, it also didn't last long, as in 1791 a new revolution overthrew the recently freed states. Not enough at the time were enlightened enough to carry on, so a new tyranny was shortly established, bringing back the centralized government that the tyranny lovers adore. In fact, if one does the proper research (visit the library of Congress and dig it up while you're at it), one can discover that the Committee on Style decided to strike out "and his title shall be *his Excellency*" from the description of the president, because it sounded too obviously like royalty. Afterwards in the 1850-1870 period, the new imperial presidency consolidated its power by conquering the South when it tried to exercise its supposedly guaranteed right to secede from the Union. Their ancestors should've read the fine print.
Ron will serve as merely a damper to get the tyranny built to its gills in armor and hardware, and then Ron will either retire or BE retired, depending on whether he's a useful sucker or in on the scam. Regardless, I have low expectations for a "nation of freedom" because freedom is where authoritarian worship ISN'T! Sadly, nowadays, that's very few places at all, and most are remarkably inhospitable to life. Every time pioneers and freemen tame a wilderness, the sheeple follow and bring their collectivist policies with them, until eventually the freemen and pioneers flee elsewhere. The time for the pioneers to make a stand and resist the infiltration of the collectivists was some 200 years ago.
When they failed to follow through on their success in 1776, and failed completely in the 1850's, when, after the Wyoming, Johnston County War, the US Congress can declare "the wild west over", we already know that tyranny lived in America, long before we were born. It only took another 120 years for the people to begin coming to that same conclusion each on his or her own.
I don't know how this will end, but I know how it began. That much I'm clear on. The rest, I cannot make any bets, its all too fuzzy with potential, but little of it any good. So I'll do what any good man can. Live life one day at a time, hope for the best, and be prepared for the worst. That and bitch around on slashdot to see if there are any other students of this mess living out here in the great wild west.
Heinlein wrote about FASCISM in that book, but that must've slipped by you. We're talking about plain simple citizen militia as written INTO the second amendment. Not this watered down federalized arm of the military that we call the 1906 National Guard. If that was truly what the 2nd refers to, its also called EX POST FACTO LEGISLATION, and that's prohibited by the main body of the Constitution as well!
No, actually ALL WEAPON LAWS are unconstitutional. The second amendment was among the most hotly debated at its time, the tyrants Hamilton and Washington (among others) wanted no such thing, and Madison watered the amendments down with easy to misconstrue language (especially over time as meanings of words changed).
What you can't forget is that there are NO qualifiers for "the right of the people SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED", period. Plus, a "militia" is any group of men older than 16 and younger than 60, of sound body and mind. They provide their own arms (any and all, not just guns) and their own training. Women with military experience could also be considered if able to handle the stress and willing to go the distance. THIS is what militia meant. Not the 1900's National Guard. That came almost 130 years later, which means it could not POSSIBLY have been what the 2nd amendment intended.
Regulation does not refer to today's bureaucratic paper pushing and prohibitions. They refer to organized into units, equipped with the equivalent of the military's arms, and commanded by an officer.
The same thing can be said of "congress shall make no law" in the first amendment... thus implying that any other bureaucracy can fuck the citizens as it pleases so long as it isn't Congress doing the fucking, and yet, the entire sheeple herd screams bloody murder the moment any group tries to infringe upon the vaunted separation of church and state, even though it was only the separation of church and CONGRESS expressly written into the amendment itself.
Walking out of the polls is too late, not registering at all is the first step. There's more to it than that. I can't go into it, sorry. Have to do your own searching.
I'm guessing you're European. 1000 years of wars, infighting, sellouts, torture, serfdom and broken promises by those in power, and you still don't get it? Nothing much I can do chief. If you can't learn from history, you most certainly won't learn from me.
No, because politicians do what is best for them. They lose nothing by being removed from office, they get to retire and spend their money or write books. No, this gene only affects the voters, the mass of sheep who keep running into the arms of new politicians each election cycle, despite NEVER getting a better deal than they would by simply walking away and firing all the politicians. Anyone who wants the job has already proven their desire for power and for a free ride at the expense of those who are taxed. Yet people still vote for 'em? They still consent to be ruled? Remarkable. This gene must be more effective than we think!!
The masses don't even unfuck themselves when their wallets and stomachs are empty, they merely pick someone else to fuck them so hard their stomachs will be full.
There is a difference in being able to fight consciously or fight desperately. A desperate fighter is dangerous, but has low chance of surviving past that one fight, regardless of what the movies depict.
As humorous as this conversation has been, I differ. I've seen little from the east side of europe to the west side of the USA that leads me to believe mankind has evolved. Individual humans, sure, some of us. But the vast majority are mere sheep waiting to be sheared or butchered (and generally being sheared every day and butchered every so often) and they only notice when its their turn.
As to your other post, we do agree. I never said those sheep don't have value. I've met several women, some of whom I dated, some of whom I didn't, who were scared of their own shadows. With the proper instinct and response training (notice I don't say "react" which is a conditioned response to a stimulus) they became able to handle themselves in situations both expected and unexpected.
Funny, of these girls I mentioned (ladies even) are now competent in some form of armed or unarmed self defense (one whipped my butt at the local bowling pin shoot and packs a Colt Commander in her purse), one is studying Jeet Kune Do in her spare time, and the last few are no longer afraid of guns or knives or big mean thugs or dark parking lots. In fact, I downright pity the fool who gets frisky with them in a dark parking lot. Funny how only a few years back these ladies were mere sheeple demanding someone else save them or escort them to their cars, etc. Now, if they request such a thing, it is mere good manners or an excuse to carry on a conversation, rather than a fear or concern for their safety.
Long way indeed. A sheeple need not remain what has been forced to be through lack of experience and lack of education. I do agree about the military, however... I once considered joining, but I could not shut my conscience up. Obedient puppet is not my way of being:)
Yes, in the end he had to be taken down by the "police" because his victims were just that... sheep waiting to be slaughtered. Idiots that snap are part of the first group I mentioned, those who unleash the Beast but cannot CONTROL it. You won't know if you can control the beast until the day you have the motive, the means and the way to kill another in rage, and then pull back from the threshold consciously. At that time, congratulate yourself, you've become a fully capable human. Refinement and diversification is your option but at least your instincts are fully functional.
Applying this to the sheeple who get butchered by the psychos each time a "school shooting" occurs. If they had the aggressive instinct that fully healthy humans (albeit rare) possess, they would've reacted LONG before he could've killed a whole bunch. If you've hunted you know that animals in general don't just drop dead, unless you hit them with a bullet capable of doing lots of damage AND you put that bullet in the right place. Humans are also animals and it takes a lot more than an arm shot to kill you. I have friends who went through vietnam, were shot with 9mm or 7.62mm (AK ammo) (one fellow was peppered 7 times, chest and belly, another was shot farther out 5 times chest) several times (still have the scars and medical reports) and still had it in 'em to kill the VCs that did it and live long enough to get back to base to get bandaged up. Speaking of which, I've heard of guys hitting a deer squarely with a big softpoint bullet (180 grain, 30 caliber, kind that kills deer quick) and the thing ran off and not only did they never find it, but they eventually lost the trail (bleeding stopped.) An animal, human or otherwise, that wants to live, and has a strong will to do so, will survive unbelievable amounts of physical damage.
Those who die in school shootings die for two reasons. Hollywood conditioning (1 shot in the shoulder or hip kills in movies, so the subconscious believes what it is programmed to believe) and the second reason is societal conditioning... i.e. "don't acquire the means and mindset to defend yourself, because it is *bad*". And thus most people in school shootings are preconditioned to be victims and then disarmed by the lawmakers to assure that they are successful as victims. And accordingly the freshly minted victims act their part whenever a victimizer shows up. It only takes one individual to stand up and break the killer's streak, but that individual must be armed with the aggressive mindset, not only the physical means to defend himself/herself and his or her peers.
But don't get me wrong, laws or none, if you hurt anyone in my family the Beast in me would put a quick end to your suffering on this planet with all of these feeble minded sheeple.
And if I ever did something like that (highly in the realm of improbability) I would expect you to respond as you stated you would. The problem, as I see it, is that it required Army conditioning to get you to be fully capable of fighting.
And I would expect to pay for that as society's laws protect you from such a response.
That's what I'm complaining about. You should have the right to defend those you love and most importantly yourself (regardless what you say, if you're disabled or dead, those you love are minus whatever you brought to the table, plus they have to maintain you or bury you.)
Which is to say, "don't ban violence in media just because some scientists showed a short term rise in some brain waves.
Bingo.
PS - it isn't "fight or flight", anyone who's trained will tell you, its "fight flight or freeze". Lack of training, in a traumatic situation results in freeze, deer in the headlights style. By the time the victim unfreezes, the victimizer has had plenty of time to do whatever he/she pleases.
And yet the whole of mankind, that collectivist organized society that is the whole of mankind, is kept running by the endless bloodshed and use of force.
Sure, the leaders have made sure to breed out that instinct out of the general populace, and made sure that those who retain even a little of it make their way into the enforcement arms. Thus we have a docile populace that finds any reason to justify the abuses it suffers at the hands of the police and army class.
"That's just the way it is."
Indeed. And that's the fun part. Just deserts! Reap what you sow, and all that.
WTF is normalize. Normal means Norm, means average. Betcha if we were not a bunch of sheepified weaklings unworthy of surviving and passing on our genes, we might actually be a bit more aggressive.
I got to read a short ad in the paper (story, whatever you call it) about some college chick that got punched in the face downtown by a big homeboy in "white thsirt and faded jeans" at 3 past midnight, and he stole her purse and ran off while she went to the doctor with a bloody nose.
I give kudos to the homeboy for not dragging her off and raping her!!! I give her my utmost disdain, because she's another member of the human race that truly isn't worthy of breeding and passing on her genes.
Aggression is part of what made mankind the apex predator, and to pretend that the docile defenseless sheep of today are the best man has to offer is to basically say that not only does mankind deserve oblivion, but is actively grooming itself for it.
After all, no other animal in nature is so completely helpless that it asks its predators to be merciful and perhaps not go for the throat. "Normal" as you put it, is nothing more than the enforced submissive state in which the brains of 99% of the human race spend their entire docile, passive existences. The few who can still unleash the beast that man is, are a force to be reckoned with. Those who can actually CONTROL what they unleash are the leftover apex predator that put man on top of the food chain. They are often feared, and well they should be, as there is little most of us can do to resist them...
Perfect example. Reading socialist/fascist/collectivist/docile sheeple propaganda inhibits the parts of my brain that feel pity. Hence why I've not pitied any of the sheeple in a LONG time, regardless of whether they vote collectivist/authoritarian right or collectivist/authoritarian left. It's all the same coin, just different sides.

That I should pull a Socrates... i.e. Choose between Hemlock and Cyanide? Well that just seems like begging for simply a "I'm not thirsty" reply.
Almost all of them are unconstitutional.
Working very hard, merely means that someone didn't figure out a better way to do what it is they do.
Also, getting involved in governance reminds me of the old adage.
"Don't vote, it only encourages them!"
Unfortunate fact #2:
The masses don't even unfuck themselves when their wallets and stomachs are empty, they merely pick someone else to fuck them so hard their stomachs will be full.
Want irony... how about the people who keep enabling their own "fuck over" by not walking out of the polls and withdrawing their consent to be ruled?
Check previous reply to your posts.
:)
Obedient puppet is not my way of being
Yes, in the end he had to be taken down by the "police" because his victims were just that... sheep waiting to be slaughtered.
"Normalize"??
