now everyone's mobile phone can record sound. computers are cheap and powerful, audio editing software is freely available. It might even be easier to record someone's voice than to guess their pin. I suppose biometrics are inevitable, given our fascination with "security" and hollywood's propensity for using biometrics in movies....but for goodness' sake, please keep the pin, and have the biometric stuff supplement it. Seriously.
hehehe nod, it's funny now, but I bet it wasn't too funny at the time. Well, it would have been to me, but not to the people that lost everything in the crash.
Same with.bomb. I was like, "your business plan is to 'synergize competing technology streams with available marketshare to grow revenue'....and your stock's trading for HOW MUCH?!?!? This can't be good."
but has become public this week because the lawsuit was just filed by the girl, now 19
It isn't the seduction, or that it was an AOL monitor that did it. Nope, the biggest story is how she could go from 15 years old to 19 years old in only two years.
Spooky.
Now I need to figure out what she's doing, and do the exact opposite.
What's to say there isn't a flaw in everything? Is this how we get stories accepted now? Include hypothetical situations? What if the Earth blows up tomorrow? Guess my mod points won't matter then....
If the astronauts are going to go up in the shuttle, who are we to second-guess them? After all, it isn't our lives which are on the line. But then, I suppose facts haven't stood in the way of slashdot before, no reason to suppose they'd do so now.
Why can they choose to 'pay the price' when I can't? That is bullshit. Do cops have to kill people in order to solve murderers? Should they be allowed to, with no investigation? Should they be allowed to steal in order to catch thieves? Should they be allowed to rape in order to catch rapists? My point is, if the behaviour is truly 'bad' enough that you can be thrown in jail for doing it, POLICE SHOULD NOT DO IT. I find it amazing that police can confiscate the homes of drug users but can themselves use drugs without fear of repercussion. It's bullshit. It isn't just drug laws, though. Cops break traffic laws all the time here in Houston, where I live. I've seen tons and tons of people pulled over by cops. Not one of them has ever been another cop car, with the cop inside getting a ticket. It's bullshit. Pure bullshit. Either no one is above the law or the law is bullshit.
There's no possible way the Federal Government would ever consider doing something as base, immoral, illegal, and invasive as go around wardriving just to see what they can see. I mean, come on, these people hold a SACRED DUTY and they take AN OATH and everything. No *way* would they ever do anything bad.
"What? I wrote it just like you-" *BLAMBLAMBLAMBLAM* *thud*
Cops take drugs all the time. To, you know, "get closer to suspects" or "avoid suspicion". My belief is that if *anyone* is above a law simply because of their job, no one should be subject to it. We should not allow police, the FedGov, and especially Congress to be above the law. Conversely, we shouldn't be obligated to follow any law they are not obligated to follow. I guess all men are equal, but some are more equal than others. (yes, it's a paraphrase of Orwell)
Well, this is Slashdot, after all. By the way, have you considered joining one of the local grammar/spelling-nazi clans here? I understand that they're looking for people with your particular skillset.
Although I am aware of the existence of such groups, I prefer to work alone, to fly solo, to .
It doesnt take a genious to realise why this is here.
Hmm. Perhaps that's why I didn't get it. Obviously, you don't have the problem with 'genious' that I have.
"Geeks" stereotypically love... Hmm. Perhaps it should be on a site for "geeks", then. This site is clearly labelled "News for Nerds".
with it's well developed universe
Did you mean "with its well-developed universe"?
What Cartoon network are doing is capitalizing on the (Also mentioned here on Slashdot) fan-subbing movement, and producing an original series in that style, meeting a growing need.
Okay, suppose there is a 'need' for fake fan-subbed anime. How on Earth does that translate to a 'need' for a slashdot article?
It's not going to make CNN, but for a place that covered the relevent material, and since the subject matter has a clear link to the readership of this site, that is why it's here.
Wow. Just....wow. I am in awe of your linguistic "abilities".
Obviously you arent the part of the demographic with a degree in anything.
Obviously, you aren't the part of the demographic with adequate writing skill. Why would you assume I don't have a degree just because I don't think the formation of a new cartoon equals news for nerds? Do you always make completely unrelated blanket generalizations against those with whom you disagree? Should I have inserted a large number of spelling and/or grammatical errors in my post to aid you in reading and understanding it?
Holy shit! I'm so glad slashdot decided to run this article. Otherwise I might not be aware of the future existence of a new cartoon! HOW COULD I LIVE?!?!?!?1one
You going to tell me that Terra isn't flat? That the humours don't control disease? That there are no dragons off the edge of the map? Puh-leeze.
This is why I make it a point to never listen to scientists. They change their minds too often. You'd think women would dominate science, considering their natural talents in that area.
I see. Graffiti wasn't art until a white boy did it. Fuck you, whoever came up with the title for this article. I suppose rap wasn't music until Vanilla Ice came along, huh? Things like this cause me to hate crackers.
That says more about them than you. I'll just say 'PIN code' if ever I find someone who doesn't know what a PIN is. That's like using it's and its or their they're and there incorrectly on purpose just because people around you do.
A Personal Identification Number number? That's almost as good as a NIC card or a PC computer. 'PIN code' I can live with...barely. 'PIN number' is just dumb. Why try to qualify it? Just call it a PIN and be done with it.
Although technically correct, this phrase would be less awkward if rendered 'not to be concerned'. I'm not correcting, simply suggesting. 'Not to' flows much better than 'to not', and that holds true under every example I can think of.*
*Yes, it's okay to end a sentence with a preposition. Truly, it is.
If this isn't the dorkiest thing ever...I really have no desire to know what is. I mean...I'm in shock. I thought LARPers were bad. I have to go lie down now.
what's warmining? It sounds dangerous.

I wonder what the next one will be.
Imagine buying futures on fictional goods in a world where common sense is overridden by fantasy... oh, right, never mind.
Why am I suddenly thinking about tulips? And...er...the late '90s.
Maybe this isn't a new thing.

Redundant.

Correct. I don't need to try, it just comes naturally. But then, looks aren't everything.
That whizzing sound you heard a bit earlier was the joke passing a few feet above your head.

Of course. We just don't let you Yankee fucks meet 'em. Everything sucks here, no need to come see for yourself. Move along. Nothing to see.
