So there are no absolute definitions of rich and poor? Well if that is true there exists no absolute definitions of good and evil. Therefore morality is pointless. Thank you. You proved my argument.
I don't justify my piracy. I just don't care. When I like something I try to buy it because in this fucked up world dollars means votes. So I want the higher ups to know that I want more of the things I like. But I'm sure I have stolen things that I enjoyed and never compensated those who created it. Oh well I guess that's on me and I'll pay for it in the end... right?
I've been robbed twice. The one time a crackhead stole $10 from my hand while I was trying to hand it to the cashier. The second time a kid pulled a shotgun on me and got $20 from my pocket. However I had a lot more in my wallet. I took my time getting the $20 from my pocket so he was happy to get it.
Did I get angry? Nope. Did I care? Nope. Even though I don't have a lot of money... I was happy because I'm not in a state where I have to rob and steal to survive. I'll write it off as charity. So yeah I don't mind if people steal from me as long as they don't have more money than I.
I have no problem stealing from the rich. However I get angry when people steal from the poor.
So when PearPC is getting ripped off from CherryOS, I get angry. When someone downloads Eminem's new single, (which sucks balls btw) I could care less.
Its common practice to not use the ~arch flags in/etc/make.conf for ACCEPTED_KEYWORDS. This is basically the flag for an unstable branch. Especially if you are running a server you should stick with stable. I use unstable tho and never really had any problems. Then again I've been using Gentoo since 2002. If there were packages you needed that were not in stable you should have used package.unmask.
Also just doing etc-update then signing off on every file to be overwritten isn't a good idea. I normally do etc-update and see what files its trying to update. Especially if I was running a server I'd backup my config files.
On a side not Gentoo I think isn't that great for servers. I'd stick with slack or debian. However for desktops its pretty nice and clean.
poor Amsterdam Vallon... his posts are somewhat informative and interesting but are constantly being modded down because he asks people to think of Terri Schiavo when right now a lot of people can't stand her (well the media coverage).
btw Amsterdam if thats your real name are you of any relation to Archimedes Plutonium?
Actually I used to run Slackware and compile GNOME from source frequently. I don't remember having any huge problems. Then again this was around the 2.0 days. Now I just let Gentoo do all the work.
I suspect the main reason behind this is the popularity of Dropline GNOME.
"Dropline GNOME is a version of the GNOME Desktop that has been tweaked for Slackware Linux systems. It is available in Slackware's standard.tgz package format, in addition to the usual source code. The current release is based off of the latest GNOME 2 distribution from the GNOME Project."
Why not let Dropline do all the work... so don't fret slackware users you still have GNOME. Just not being packaged by Slackware officially.
Are you American or did you go to private school? Because most public high school history professors think like this. Many of them being former military personale or have a conservative outlook. However some tend to be very radical but still extreme. Also the problem with Americans and so-called history has more to do with Americans then teachers. I remember in days in high school, people would fall asleep in class and get into fights. I often knew more then teachers. So don't ridicule this poor guy he probably works in some shitty school with crappy students. He's just a product of his culture.
Tokyo is one of the most expensive places live (actually the most) yet everyone there has some new fangled phone or electronic device. The success I think on the PSP has less to do with economy and more with culture.
well i was thinking more along the lines of something like the ipod. ipod runs pixos or something... and as someone else mentioned it can run linux. so what was your point?
I know about Linux PDAs and such but is there a Linux-based mp3 player. It seems like a great idea since you wouldn't have to pay fees on the OS. Plus Linux is pretty customizable. Open the player up so people can write plugins and new features. Why hasn't anyone thought of this?
now the local street gang can inform me on how i can enlarge my penis or how their funds are tied up in some bank and they need my help... spam bangers!

you said price not cost...
costs increase exponentially with quality... is correct. but you said price increases exponentially with quality. so what is it?
Prices increase exponentially with quality.
So Linux will never get better?

I forgot to mention GNOME.SlackBuild.
This is another great GNOME package for Slackware.
