It's very optimistic to think they'd make split screen[1] co-op.
Unfortunately, that seem to be a dying market. Sure, there's the occasional shooter with split screen co-op abilities, but it's rare someone release a game with split screen co-op beyond that genre.
You DO realise that this have been the norm on PC for ages, right? When you buy second hand PC games, a lot of them doesn't include mulitplayer, because the key is already used in activating an on-line multiplayer account.
Some already charge to give you a new key to create a multiplayer account for your second hand purchased games, it was even on./ a few times.
The only difference here seems to be that Sony is forcing it on all their games, whereas on PC it's up to the publisher.
As far as I'm aware, we are broadcasting specific radio and TV waves out in the cosmos, that has a reach of about 100 light years. NatGeo had something about it, I haven't checked the source, but they're usually close enough.
And how the hell can we affect the entire Milky Way?
Unless the "aliens" are sick of our TV and Radio broadcasts. Though, that would require the aliens planet to be within 100 light years, which is improbable.
Now that you opened the subject of requesting permission, why haven't Google learned anything yet? They do the exact same thing with Android.
Let me explain.
Using your example: Angry Birds is requesting permission to: View basic information about your account View a list of people from your circles, ordered based on your interactions with them across Google
The first one, sure, go ahead. It might need my name and such, for scores.
The second one, not so much. As you said, why the hell does it need to know?
Why can't I just accept the first permission and get on with it? If it's game breaking, I'm shit out of luck for not accepting it, but I highly doubt that second request is in any way game breaking.
They actually made this for CyanogenMod, where you can specifically select which permission you want to grant to applications, and it's working just fine.
Also, how do those download numbers stack up against actual sales? Is there a method to determine what portion of these downloads represent actual loss for the companies (copies that were only pirated) versus what is essentially pre-sale test drives?
Or people who just can't play the game because of DRM crap and use a pirated version to play their paid for game.
Why? It's an option you don't have to use, you know.
You don't HAVE to sell or buy items, you're free to trade like always. I can't see how it disrupts your game, you can just simply choose not to participate in the auction house.
This is nothing new, a lot of games does something similar with real money, and the IRS hasn't freaked out more than usual (not in my country anyway). Move along.
Doesn't it highly depend on the surface it lands on as well? I mean, a bathroom floor is pretty hard and solid, while, say, a bush could soften the blow quite significantly.
There is a difference between "addons" and "micropayments". I assume you are talking about car packs and the like for Burnout Paradise (play it myself), and I don't concider those micropayments at all, but more DLC or addons.
Unless they recently added micropayments I'm not aware of, of course.

[1] Same screen co-op included

For HTPC purposes, Intel GPU's are good enough.
Does it break patents and copyright in the Netherlands?
if not, RealNetworks has no grounds for the suit.

Well, it IS Google.
They are known for having their applications in Beta for a very long time.
Gmail got out of beta just "recently".
But yeah, this still a closed beta to my knowledge, so it's not really a surprise it's low on users.

Wasn't the episodic content supposed to be HL3?

Of course I should had been more precise.
When saying IRS, I meant [insert national tax agency]

According to the TFA, the fee is "nominal".
There is a list fee and a completing fee (when item is sold).
You get a few free listings per week.
Whichever currency is active in your region.
The Auction House is going to be divided into currency regions.
As opposed to in game currency.
This.

hah, I did not intend for that to happen, but now that you point it out, it's actually hilarious.
+1 funny.
(Your president isn't mine btw, but I still get the joke)

I was thinking the exact same thing.
We're anonymous, let's make a website that keep records of us.
Wait, what?
Depends on what you get with the micropayments.
If it gets you a new hat or a new tie, no one cares.
if it gets you the über sword of omgwtfbbq, then yeah.

No, it was Firebird for quite some time, untill they got forced to change it in 2004.
Tell that to the extentions that constantly break on new major version.
You have to explain that a little further.
Facebook haven't cost me a dime, so how is that not free?
I wonder if the friends can be prosecuted for aiding a criminal like that.
Then why do I have 2 addons that doesn't?
