So this thing is going to take my picture everytime my '78 Ford Pinto backfires? Sheesh, I think I really do need a tinfoil hat (or a new car)
RTFA ---
"The device is listening for the entire sound pattern of the gunshot, not just the initial explosion, which makes it much less likely to mistake other loud noises for shooting."
AND "Field tests with real weapons have shown 95 percent accuracy with respect to gunshot recognition"
A major point that people forget about using ogg on portable players is that ogg decoding requires more processing power which translates to less battery life per charge. I love ogg for various reasons that due to this reason I stopped using it even though my player supports it.
iRiver H340 is what you are looking for. Unfortunately, the US version does not have USB-on-the-go feature for some reason. As a satisfied owner of H120, there are other features that iPod does not have but that has been discussed in detail before.
Being an avid Cubase SX user I totally agree. I guess it's more of a cultural thing where most of mainstream movie soundtrack people use protools.
Though I recall Hans Zimmer saying he still uses Cubase VST 4.
While there is a lot of talk about what is better, why don't we think about putting the vivisimo auto-categorization on top of google? Best of both the worlds.
No? So why is it making me haul around that many characters? Web programming my foot.
Well, the point is that there can be many reasons why you would have tons of query parameters in the url. It is totally application specific so I can't comment about Amazon in particular but if you had the slightest idea, the 77 characters you mentioned have parameter name, values and context path information encoded into it. All 77 characters do not represent a product. It's not a simple case of 36^77 characters. For example, you can have user id, session id (to support disabled cookies), product id and other information you may have collected.
First of all if you RTFA, almost all stores reviewed support burning cds.
Now for the other point. I'm honestly sick of everyone talking about the virtues of iTunes because of burning cds. There are costs associated (blank cds are cheap but not free), and time associated (imagine 100s of songs).
My happiest moment was when I discovered how to rip DVDs I rent to my hard disk. Then I burn those rips onto SVCDs to pass around to my friends as cheap Christmas presents.
This is offtopic but want to share what you use to rip to svcd? Yes, I have searched and tried a few things like 1click, dvd ripper etc but none is satisfactory in a single pass. Even better if it's free.
From the article: also claims that Microsoft's security warnings are too complex to be understood by the general public and serve instead to tip off "fast-moving" hackers on how to exploit flaws in its operating system.
How complex is it to look at a security warning and click on windows update? As much as I like MS being sued, this is just for the lawyers to get rich.
I have heard good things about the hybrid Honda Civic. I sat in one (didn't get to drive though) and seemed like a regular civic.
My concern is with the batteries. I think they give 8 years guarantee but if I have to spend 10000
dollars on a new battery, I'm not happy. Yes, you could argue that you won't keep that car for that long but the same concern can decrease the resale value.

So, I guess, end of Java will end of lot of stupid people who should not have in the programming profession in the first place.
And that will make sure the world is full of those really smart VB developers.
I run a SuSE server and an XP box. Both have been up the same length of time without a crash.
Actually I dual boot with both on the same machine and I was surprised to find out that XP starts up faster than Suse! It's an Athnlon XP 2400 with 512M.
However, I think as it gets old (read: more programs installed and registry cluttered), Windows tends to slow down.
They don't even need to do that. Most of the home users buy from local shops who assemble the stuff and part of the deal is to pre-install all pirated software (windows os, office, photoshop etc., games) on it. If not, you can VERY easily find all this for 30 Rupees (rougly 63 cents) per cd.
It's only the big corporations that have to worry about such a thing. That's why I don't see the cost advantage as big a thing as many do here.
Maybe things will change if and when microsoft tries to enforce this but I don't see a big change there. So from a home user's point, you get a free os that everyone on the street knows well enough, and you have a free os that is geeky and hard for Joe sixpacks.
I know someone used to work at Adobe in the elements team. They got the axe due to the Macromedia merger.
JDS is not all that much about Java. It's funny /. also bought Sun's marketing hype.

This guy obviously hasn't done any web programming.
Aah that's why he was ashamed... wait..nevermind.

Nope. I did RTFA I didn't RTFC
Neither. At work, I can only read slashdot comments, not the sites it links to :)
SCO Press release tomorrow: Linus is ashamed of the copyrighted code. We knew this all along.

It's not as bad as you think. Check out Vivisimo
Yes, Mr. Gates. 640k ought to be enough for anyone.

I just installed rc3 today and now I see this. Does anyone know if rc3 is same as this one?
that was orion server which had nothing to do with apache. orion was never open source and oracle bought the source from them.
