Liberals may be quicker to sell-off assets, but Labor is ALSO fond of selling our (taxpayer) property. How many times has NSW Labor tried to privatise various utilities? (especially under Iemma)
Sell-off assets for billions -> promptly spend the billions -> look like heroes to voters
But what will they sell when there are no assets left?
And some assets are quite, shall we say, profitable
My personal belief is that IPv6 would last many, many decades without causing us to even think about it being exhausted. Nevertheless, I can't help but wonder if people who repeat the quote:
Nobody will ever need more than 640k.
may be onto something.
Sure, we make comparisons between the IPv6 address space and the number of atoms in the universe, but what if IP addresses weren't just attached to devices (computers, mobiles, refrigerators, cars, etc). What if each application running on each device had its own IP address? Though I can't think of a good reason for that, it would nevertheless accelerate the take-up of addresses.
Christmas holidays are coming up and, given the parity of the Australian dollar with the US dollar, two friends and I are keen to travel abroad.
Hawaii kept coming up as a destination, but I eliminated that option: I have zero desire to travel to the United States while it has such offensive and invasive procedures for both boarding (TSA, "naked scanner") and customs (eye-scanners, interrogations). If it wasn't for this treatment of travellers we would be there in a heartbeat.
The US just lost 3 semi-affluent people from spending a week in Hawaii. Granted, it's a drop in the economic ocean, but it's a start.
For those who may not know, these are known as trading halts.
What makes me furious is looking over historic share price graphs and observing share prices rise a day or so *before* a company makes a positive announcement (e.g. a huge mineral find, scientific breakthrough, profit increase, etc).
You're not necessarily wrong: depending on the situation, we (Australians) get to depreciate some assets (including computers) over 3 years, so hopefully the person marking your test will read it that way.
Having said that, there would most likely be some residual resale value after 3 years, even if they are worth $0 on the books.
Parents... intervening only to tell of[f] the teacher who took away their little angel's cell phone because they were texting during class
Granted, there were no cell phones when I was in school. However if / when I told on the teacher for disciplining me for misbehaviour on my part, I would get a smack from my parents. Teachers would have to do something pretty horrible to incur a parental confrontation.
I'm not sure whether or not that is true. The below came to mind:
If Schwarzenegger had decided not to lend his appearance to the film, then John would have shot the T-800's face off before the audience got a good look at him.
(Australian here)
I expressed similar sentiment (and curiosity) in an above post.
To take things further:
IF I remember correctly they have even better official working conditions in France and Germany, and those countries are powerful G8 economies.
Your post is eerily similar to my situation: heaps of recognition, saved the company truck-loads of money.
All counted for nothing... instead, they kept piling-on more work.
I threatened to quit, but they thought I was bluffing.
You should have seen the looks on their faces when I announced my resignation. ("Priceless")
Have a new job now and am much happier.
My advice: if you're not happy, then start looking elsewhere... there's no harm, but the rewards could be immense.
In today's Australian Financial Review I saw a graph that showed that since 2001:
Average Weekly Earnings increased by ~40%
CEO remuneration increased by ~220%
Presumably this is the free market at work. But is it fair?
Boards of Directors effectively set their own pay... I don't set my own. If I could, I assure you my pay would have increased by at least 220% since 2001 !!
Now, admittedly your comment referred specifically to 'hours worked' and 'government involvement'. However, speaking more towards our work culture:
labor laws need to be aggressively changed to deal with this flawed, inaccurate culture
I'm all for government intervention. (And not just to address pay inequalities.)

You just can't stop making stupid puns, Kenya?

Giddy yup !!

I say let's review executive remuneration ... unless you feel $50 million golden parachutes are perfectly normal.
Ok, I propose the following changes:
Fair deal?
Get your ass to Mars ...

Good luck in your exam.
Kind of reminds me of ST:Voyager episode Virtuoso.
SCUBA diving !? Wake boarding !?! Sky diving !?!!
.. but leave your geek card at the door.

Let me guess: you're not overweight AND you have a girlfriend.
Well you can take your precious watch

You mention that you decide whether or not to open an attachment depending on whether or not it was expected.
... something only a real-time scanner will detect in time. (Overnight could be too late.)
Unfortunately, even expected attachments may contain virii
Perhaps because he doesn't know about it.
I'm intrigued: what vaccines were you required to have for college?
Taken from Wikipedia
More like he was arguing "semetics".
Indeed !!
I think it would be even more creepy if the message was somehow recalled ...
How about "an eye for an eye"? (i4i)

How can the US justify such poor entitlements?
Losing vacation time ?!
Sorry, I find that disgusting. (Australian here.)
Now, I can accept being forced to take excess vacation time (called "annual leave" in Australia) with "excess" being defined in advance.
Would be interested to hear what people born into jurisdictions that have these rules think of such rules. Do you think they are fair? Unfair?

It is meaningful if you want to draw the attention of hardware manufacturers and have them develop drivers.
