Agreed. The./ v2 is slower and cluttered. It's hard to navigate past the first page, especially on mobile devices. I hope this gets fixed since I browse more and more on mobile devices (phones/tablet).
I second that. Notion Ink is shipping its Adam [android tablet] right now (in pre order). It is a more mature offering of all talked Android tablets at CES. What I mean is that they started working on it long before the iPad was talked about. Unlike Motorola's Xoom or Samsung's Galaxy Tab they did not wait for Android Honeycomb. In fact, they created a set of stock applications made for tablets and built Eden: their home made GUI (truly innovative).
Here are some pros about Adam:
Power full computing capability. Tegra 2 processor (AMR A9 dual core processor + GeForce GPU + other)
Revolutionary display. It comes in two variants: normal LCD or PixelQi's transreflective technology with the ability to read in direct sun light and reduce battery life.
Swivel camera (3.2 MP auto-focus) which means front and rear facing camera!
Lots of standard ports: HDMI out and USB. Yes, you can output to your big HD screen and pulb a mouse and keyboard out of the box.
Storage extention: It supports microSD cards and USB external storage.
Wireless connectivity: Wifi N; 3G; Bluetooth.
Adobe flash works flawlessly.
Mega stereo speakers.
Mat antireflective finish.
Very long baterry life. Up to 16 hours with PixelQi model.
Eden's tablet designed UI.
1 GB of RAM for a good multi tasking experience.
Here are some cons:
8 GB of internal storage.
3G wireless only.
Check their site at Notion Ink.com. Also make sure you take a look at their blog for a ton of details.
Note that they are a start up based in India. They are shipping in every country, but you won't have the same support as a big names.
There is a reason why this came in Sweden and not elsewhere. Don't expect to see something like this here.
Sweden giving more power to their people than to foreign companies, those companies were faced with the choice of staying with their old way of doing business (making no virtually no money) or changing the model to do less. At least, less means more than nothing. The fact that this tactic of suing customers failed forced the big players to change. Sweden people along side with their government forced an industry to innovate. And this wouldn't have been possible without piracy. It was the mean through which people expressed their discontent with an industry's current way of doing things. Piracy was like a boycott and it worked.
Now let see how this goes. Could this open the way for other countries? Don't expect it in countries where governments are more concerned by profit making business than their people.
So people who check their email every five minutes waste 8 1/2 hours a week figuring out what they were doing moments before.
That is absurd. 8 1/2 hours represents losing 64 seconds every five minutes on a 40 hours basis. That means that in each period of five minutes, you'll lose couples of minutes checking your mail (opening app or login, looking to your account(s), etc.) and replying. After it you'll need 64 seconds to recover your train of thought after interruption. That leaves you 0 to 10 seconds of productive time. In other words, if you have a meeting or you play some game for an hour and can't check your mail, you need to check them on a shorter period in order to compensate.
Nobody go check his email every 5 mins. It would be stupid to do so. Wait for alerts you fool! If you were waiting for a specific information by mail, it may even save you time or wake you up!
What makes me waste time is studies like that and the time I take to comment those. Now, what was I doing..?
Actually, threads are heavier in Windows than in every other OS including Linux, MacOSX and Singularity. Still they are way cheaper than a process and that is the whole point of their existence. As for.NET, it uses its own built-in threads model;.NET threads are different than OS threads.
Is this a question? The real question is if USA's voters are well informed at all? Do they have the right information to be able to make an well informed decision? No. Do they have the time? Not everybody does. Do they care to be informed? No, for most of them at least.
As anybody seen anything else than a way to take more power over users with no control whatsoever!? With a good publicity if that was not enough. Take ten seconds to think about it and you'll understand it would not even be feasable with current technology if ISP even bothered about doing something about child pornography.
Resume: "Say you're in and you'll have power to block whatever page for any customer without him be able to protest. Also, you'll officially be with the good one and there is not requierement to do anything proactive. What to ask more?"
Sorry but it only means that at this level it takes great mathematicians (or a computer) to invalidate Li's claim.
Or... maybe it's pride that motivates them (hypothesis). Note that I could have refuted this proof, but who would have believed me?
Anywany, Li lost his honnor and should seppuku himself to preserve it. Mathematics are a serious field Mr. Li, failure is not an option.
Ok, this guy tried to fool the system and could be charged of 5 years in prison. What about the Republicains that stole two elections and it has been clearly demonstrated? Could Bush face a life time sentence? Oh, no, USA is a country where only little guys can face "justice".
It doesn't take a genius to determine what type of traffic (P2P) is passing through an encrypted tunnel with this precision. It takes only little monitoring. Also note that this technic can be countered easilly adding dumb packets to tunnelling protocols. This technic as been used before and is probably already ready in big corporations like AT&T and others with research teams dedicated to stop users from enjoying the Web.
If your ISP is dumb enough to do bandwidth throttling on P2P, is dumb enough to slow down every encrypted connection.
I really do. Okay, it accelerated the whole thing, but Gates is far from a genious. Most of his successes comes on the business front. He was there at the right time and did the right thing to grow his company. Thanks to the competition that was either too creative or conservative. Anyway, I don't think of Gates as a visionary guy in the sense of great achiever. What did he do? What did Microsoft invented that was truely novel, that nobody ever thought of? Nothing comes to mind: not the PC, not the OS, not the GUI, not the networking capability, not the office suite, not the development tools, not the language, not the media player, not interactive media language. You name it. Microsoft only bought, copied, stole, or adapt something already there.
He is a good business man in respect to capitalism pratices and monopoly and that is it.

Right, more affordable than the iPad, Notion Ink Adam tablet offers a lot more in terms of hardware. Check their site or this for a quick overview.
Notion Ink as stated it can run Ubuntu. The Tegra processor is not a big problem, Debian supports ARM.

Check this Lockdown and User Profile Editor called Sabayon. It comes included with Gnome. For desktop usage it seems to be what you are looking for.
For serveer side, LDAP works on Linux as well as Windows.
First link does not work. It should be: zero-watt displays

Don't forget religious psychologists!
Frankly, without someone to poke me with a sharp stick now and then, I wouldn't get much done.
Yeah, it's tough for a monkey to make a living outside of a circus. ;)
Unfortunately, that is not enough anymore. SSL without certificate can be hacked. At least we have /. to tell us when our new policies are outdated.
Here are the cartoon's link and the guy's home page.

As a matter of fact, science proved God does not exist. Don't you remember?
Where? I can't see it..!?
Anyway, too bad I only believe in what I see.

Simple question; simple answer: because some slashdotters, like any other group, regroup a lot of annoying and not very intelligent people. ;)

The good old Proof by Intimidation. Reminds me how I got my PhD.
This can also save your ass or at least give you a good laugh.

So the least effort rule wins here... again!
Yes, but you know that Lewis Black see every thing in black and... grey.
