And Febraury 9th is conveniently after the two month trial period that people get with Halo2...
So Live(tm) release of more levels would make sense, get anyone who hasn't renewed their subscription to resign up to get the end of the game. (At only A$100 a pop)
Have there really been enough significant changes to make it a new game?
If it were pc only game, dual weilding, vehicle boarding and new guns could really have been a patch, mod or expansion pack at the most.
Not to say I didn't thoughourly (sp?) enjoy the first Halo, but it just seem this is a bit devoid of anything new and exciting to warrant a AUD$100 purchase (I'm a poor student).
Would anyone else not really mind if fallout 3 was released with the fallout 2 engine and graphics, as long as it had a long, diverse, and involving storyline?
I think that the "original developers" company is a bit much, but maybe just some of the original writers?
Fallout 2 was just Fallout with a few improvements and a new (much longer) story. fallout 3 doesnt really have to be much different to make the real fans happy.
I think it would be much more fun if they became Amish.
Space travelling (assuming they found us) ETs that gave up their technology for the simple life and dedication to God and the Church
When this becomes mainstream...
Television producers would be crushed...
You wouldn't have to buy posters for your wall...
Your little electric heater could look like a roaring fire...
Skin the world!
Did anyone else notice that in the external links provided on the right that "Linux" points to Linux.com not kernel.org?
Is this further bad reporting or an advertising buyoff?
Rush 2, a car racing game on the N64 had billboards, and even cans of Mountain Dew you could collect to unlock cars.
The billboards were for gaming magazines, mountain dew, the game producers, and an upcoming game by the same studio.
It sounds like our favorite telco monopoly is trying to diversify, or maybe just squash more smaller isps of of the market.
where everyone else whos not in the US or with telstra cannot reach this "new, wonderful, legal and fair" way of buying music... pity, I'll have to stay with kazaa
I have managed to compile almost all of it without removing any code. There is a missing (what a suprise) resource file (cpp) needed by the material system. If you just make and empty file in its place, however, it will continue to compile happily.
After this I can compile everything except the engine and cs. (cs being dependent on the engine) There is a missing engine header file which seems to contain a large number of the functions used in the engine.
I don't think it can be compiled much further without the header or wihout seriously reworking (or crippling) the engine.
Looking through the code there is a directory called linux, full of makefiles and also #ifdef _LINUX switches through the code (especially in the parts using inline assembly). Whether this is just for the server or not I can't tell.
The linux makefiles work to an extent, but only after you rework some of the code. I've got to a point where there's some calculations done in asm that I can't get to compile.
If anyone has got further than that (I can compile up to studiorender/cstudiorender.cpp ) I would love to hear about it.
I live in Perth in Western Australia and the suburb I live in didn't have broadband available until early this year (18 months after Teltra said it was coming) and when it did arive I managed to get a connection but they quickly ran out (somehow) and my friend down the road missed out.
I did however shop around for a deal and managed to get 6GB cap for peak times (7am to midnight) and unlimited off-peak. It only counts for downloads and I get free transfers from WAIX (West Aust. Internet Exchange) which has all the isp's and universities file mirrors on it.
512/128 for $88 / month and if I surpass my limit I just get my on-peak, non-waix slowed to 64kb with no charge.
So there are acceptable deals around IF you can get a line

If only my university course didn't enforce non-programmable calculators :(

Has anyone been to slahsdot.org recently??
Isn't that essentially what freenet does?
